Story
For Adoption: Lollipop! Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. To apply for adoption and for more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/. It is my absolute pleasure to introduce you to Lollipop! This happy 5yr old Maltese/Poodle cross (often called a maltipoo) has a beautiful creamy white coat with caramel accents and cute little triangle ears. She is a little on the thin side at 7 lbs; her poor little ribs poking out of her sides. We are working on getting her back to a proper weight which will be about 10lbs. Lolly is a joyful, friendly, affectionate girl; sweet and little, just like a Lollipop! This gorgeous little girl was rescued from a commercial breeding situation, where she had obviously just had a litter, thankfully her last! She was a little timid and noise sensitive when we first received her, but her natural curiosity has worked to her advantage. She is now ready to find a loving forever home. Due to her horrible start in life, Lollipop would do best with a quiet home with a single person or an older couple. She isn't a very playful dog and wouldn't do well with children. She likes a quiet home without a lot of comings and goings where she can live her life in peace. She is a fairly quiet and docile girl who makes very little noise. She will rarely bark with her foster dog siblings, but will let out mournful howls, for only a few minutes, when crated for the night. Lolly walks very well on her leash. She is very attentive to her person, and likes to walk behind or beside them. She really enjoys her daily walks and would like to get out daily for a few short walks in her forever home. When Lollipop is let out of her crate in the morning, she is so happy and full of joy. She just wants your full attention and to be told how smart and beautiful she is. Then we take a trip out to the grass where she understands the assignment and gets down to business. Then it is back into the house where her happiest place to be is right beside you on the couch. She snuggles right in and is the picture of contentment. Lollipop really wants a home with a person or people who will enjoy a lap dog and give her a lot of opportunity to cuddle with them. At night she is somewhat reluctant to go into her crate but will complain for a minute and then settle in quietly for the night. She has only been on a few car rides. She gets seat belted into a car seat and she travels along quietly. She does get sick occasionally in the seat so we cover the bottom with a towel for easy cleanup. She needs more positive experiences with car rides to fun places so that she can become more adjusted to the car ride experience. She currently lives with another foster dog and 2 small house dogs. She doesn't really interact much with them. She will sleep in proximity to them, probably for their warmth as she was shaved right down after leaving the puppy mill. She would be fine in a home with another mature dog who won’t pester her to play but wouldn’t mind a companion, or she can be the only dog and get all of the attention and affection for herself. She is an independent dog with the other dogs in the home and doesn’t prefer for the other dogs to try and cuddle with her on the couch. She is untried with cats but she seems so calm most of the time, we think she'd be okay. She hasn't been introduced to kids but doesn't like loud noise and doesn't care to be playful so she wouldn't fit in well with a family with young children. Older teens would be fine as long as they are happy with a cuddly dog, not a play fetch in the yard type dog. Lollipop quickly learned her name and responds well when asked to come here. She does seem clever, and obedience training will be a must to ensure the best experience for her in her new family/home and to help with her confidence building. Lollipop made it through her spay surgery effortlessly, no drama from this little sweetheart. She is up to date on her vaccinations and has just had dental surgery to remove retained baby teeth and some bad teeth. She came through that like a trooper too. This dog is small in size but she is mighty and nothing gets her down. She has been tremendously resilient considering the life that she came from and then having her whole world changed, for the better, but still a scary experience. She has come through it all with such resiliency. Lolly is looking for a quiet home with one or two special people to love and have short walks with. As she isnt a very vocal dog she would be just fine in most living situations. She will also be fine in a home with or without a fully fenced yard. She will do her business out in the yard or out on a walk so any option is fine for her. She is a flight risk, as most mill dogs are, so anyone adopting her has to be aware of her safety and ensuring that she is never outside without a leash on at all times, unless in a fully secure fenced area with no gaps or holes. She also needs to be watched around doors and gates to ensure one isnt left open for her to dart out. More than anything Lolly just wants to be loved and to have a quiet life. She is such a great companion and absolutely loved by her foster family. She has blossomed into a great happy, loving girl. This sweet girl Velvet was found as a stray in South Korea and taken to a local shelter. She had a pink collar on her but unfortunately, no one came to find her. She was pulled by a local rescue and placed in foster. Velvet is approximately 8 years old, spayed, utd vaccinations, microchipped, Snap 4dx tested, dewormed, and comes with a vet Health Certificate. Her teeth were cleaned, and she is developing mild cataracts. If interested, please email dcdgavel@gmail.com for an adoption application.

Story
Meet Rambi – The Sweet and Affectionate Companion Gender: Female Age: 7 years Weight: 3.5 kg Breed: Maltese Rambi’s story is one of strength and sweetness. She was found abandoned on a rainy day along a mountain trail, but her love for people remains unshaken. She’s incredibly friendly and loves cuddles. Rambi easily accepts treats from strangers, shows her belly for rubs, and enjoys being held. Her playful and affectionate personality is sure to melt your heart. True to her Maltese nature, Rambi can show a touch of jealousy, though it’s mild and manageable. When left alone, she might bark briefly to call attention but quickly settles down on her own. Her bark is soft and not disruptive. Rambi is independent around other dogs, showing little interest in them, but she’s kind and peaceful. She shares treats without any guarding issues and avoids conflict if other dogs show aggression. On walks, Rambi is a dream—she follows her person closely without pulling on the leash. Her calm and adaptable nature makes her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a small dog with a big heart. If you’re searching for a sweet, loyal, and affectionate pup to brighten your days, Rambi is ready to be your best friend! 🐾💕

🐶 Quick Facts! · Name: Hamduk · Age: 5 years old (approximate) · Gender: Male · Neutered: Yes · Breed: Mixed · Colour: White · Weight: 3.6kg 🌱With Humans🐕 Hamduk is a bit shy at first, but with some tasty treats🧁, he’ll quickly become your best friend! Once he feels comfortable, he enjoys being carried and will even roll over for belly rubs. He’s friendly and will greet new doggy friends, although he prefers gentle interactions rather than rough play. With a moderate energy level, Hamduk loves outdoor walks and is calm indoors. While he may pull a bit during walks, he generally follows his handler well. 🐶Behavior with Resources🐾 Hamduk does exhibit resource guarding behaviors towards other dogs and people. He will bark if he needs something and gives a “woof” when he sees strangers. 🏠Adjustment to New Environments🚽 In new environments, he may mark his territory initially, but he settles down quickly once he feels at home. 🥩Food Motivation🥕 He is very food motivated, so be sure to keep your hands out of sight when giving treats!😅 🗒️Special Notes✏️ Be aware that he has a habit of nipping at strangers’ ankles if they turn their backs😱. Supervision is essential to ensure he doesn’t receive too much attention from unfamiliar faces. 💌Last Message💌 Hamduk is looking for a loving home where he can feel secure and appreciated. If you think you can provide the right environment for him, please reach out!
