I’m an irresistibly cute little dog with a wonderfully chunky build, a big face, oversized paws, and surprisingly short legs. Put it all together and I have the kind of proportions that make people stop and smile. I’m currently sporting a shorter haircut, but my coat looks like it will grow in much fuller and fluffier—I’m going to become even more handsome once it does. My personality is every bit as lovable as my appearance. I’m sweet and affectionate with people, friendly with other dogs, and naturally easygoing. I enjoy affection and have plenty of charm, but my overall energy is comfortable and well-balanced. I’m the kind of dog my rescuers describe as genuinely easy to care for: gentle, stable, adaptable, and happy to go along with everyday life. There is one thing about me that definitely isn’t small: my voice! I’m a bit of a talker, and thanks to my broad chest, I can produce a surprisingly impressive bark for my compact body. If the other dogs start barking, I may join the conversation. If I spot something interesting outside, I may announce it. And if there’s something I particularly want, I’m not above using my voice to make my opinion known. The funny part is that I usually have a lot to say—but not necessarily for very long. Rather than barking endlessly, I’m more likely to deliver a decisive little announcement and then move on with my day. Gregory is one of those little dogs who makes you want to scoop him up and never put him down. This incredibly sweet, trusting little guy loves being the centre of attention and is happiest when he knows he is loved. He has a wonderful playful side and enjoys fetching small soft balls and playing with his favourite little squeaky toys. He also gets along beautifully with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. Gregory absolutely LOVES his walks. He may pull a little at the beginning because he is excited to get going, but he settles into a nice rhythm very quickly. He is also a great little car passenger and would happily be your sidekick for adventures. He has a soft spot for cozy beds, especially donut beds, and is more than happy to curl up for some quality cuddle time. He doesn't need a huge yard to be happy and would do well in an apartment or home where his people are ready to include him in their daily lives. Gregory is still working on his house training, but he never messes in his kennel and will go outside when asked. When he first arrived, he had not yet been neutered and had some marking tendencies, so we are hopeful that will continue to improve now that he has been neutered. He is a quick learner and responds well to direction. He may bark when he first meets a stranger, but don't let that fool you - Gregory warms up quickly once he realizes you're a friend. Once he trusts you, you'll see the sweet, affectionate little personality underneath. And Gregory's story makes his transformation even more special. He was found by a police officer tangled in bushes, and it appeared he had been stuck there for quite some time. When he arrived at the shelter, he weighed less than 4 pounds and was rated a 1 on the starvation scale. Somehow, through all of that, this little guy still had a trusting heart. Wanting the best for me, the difficult decision was made to find me a new loving home. Although saying goodbye to the life I knew wasn’t easy, I’m ready to begin a new chapter. I first learned about Boo through a social media post, and something about his story stayed with me. Boo had been brought into a family because their child wanted a dog. But after two or three years, when the child lost interest, Boo was left outside and slowly forgotten. Eventually, the family began telling people in the neighborhood that they wanted to get rid of him, and that if no one took him, he would be sent to a city shelter. Someone in the neighborhood heard about Boo's situation and shared his story and photos on social media, hoping that someone would come forward to help him. The post received a lot of attention and comments, but Boo was already six years old, and despite all the people who saw his story, no one stepped forward to take him in. Then Dogscover saw his photos. What stood out the most were his eyes. They looked so empty, as though Boo had stopped believing that anyone was coming for him. There was no expectation, no excitement, almost no hope left in them. Something kept us going back to that photo, unable to stop thinking about this little dog who had spent so much of his life being unwanted and overlooked. We knew we couldn't simply scroll past his story and forget about him. Something in us kept saying that Boo deserved someone to choose him. So we decided to rescue him. Today, Boo is a very different little dog. He is a Maltese through and through, with a huge personality packed into his tiny body. More than anything, Boo absolutely loves people. Human attention is his favorite thing in the world, and given the choice, he would almost always choose being beside his person over anything else. He is friendly with other dogs, but honestly, they aren't really his priority. Boo is much more interested in people and would happily spend his day following his human around and soaking up all the love and attention he can get. When it comes to cats, Boo likes to pretend he is much braver than he really is. He may bark at them at first and put on quite a dramatic performance, but the truth is that he is actually scared of cats. If a cat hisses at him, Boo is usually the one running away! He also absolutely loves car rides and is always happy to hop in and go wherever his person is going. To Boo, the destination doesn't really matter as long as he gets to be there with his human. Boo is sweet, affectionate, funny, a little opinionated, a little dramatic, and completely full of personality-pretty much a classic Maltese. But what makes him especially precious is knowing how far he has come. There was a time when Boo was left outside, forgotten by the family who had once wanted him, and facing the possibility of being sent to a shelter. He was six years old and had seemingly been overlooked by everyone. Then someone finally saw him, and his life began to change.
