Story
This lovely lady is LuLu! She was surrendered to the shelter because her previous owners felt they didn`t have enough time to dedicate to her. She is a young pup who just wants stability and to find her furever home. LuLu can be a little timid at first with strangers, but with patience she does enjoy being close to her people. She has never lived with other animals but is willing to try with proper introductions. She has exhibited some guarding behavior with her food and toys, so any children in the home must be 10 and older. She is crate trained but still working on being housebroken. LuLu is a delightful dog who is ready for companionship and love. Could she be the right fit for you?---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
KENNEL ID #18804Heff is a 9 lb, 6-year-old Maltese who recently retired from a commercial breeding kennel. For most of his life, his only job was making puppies, so he’s still learning what it means to simply be a loved family dog. Heff is a very sweet little guy, but he’s understandably shy and unsure in new situations due to limited socialization. He enjoys being gently picked up and petted, though he may be nervous at first. While he doesn’t seek out attention yet, it’s clear he wants to trust and is making progress every day. Heff will need a patient adopter who understands that love, time, and consistency will help him continue to blossom. He thrives around other dogs and must have a confident canine companion in his new home to help him learn the routines of family life and build his confidence. A quiet home without young children would be the best fit for Heff. If you have a gentle heart and the patience to help this deserving little guy discover how wonderful life can be, Heff will reward you by becoming a loyal companion. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Nino is one sweet little Maltipoo and has already won over his foster in only moments!    BACK STORY ON NINO; Nino had a rough start to life.  While he had a home, it is apparent that his human didn’t spend much quality time with him. He arrived at his foster home very stressed and afraid. He doesn’t seem to have been exposed to much of the world, but he is curious to explore new things with gentle encouragement. He has his own little (poodle) personality and likes to cuddle up and receive attention. His fur is as soft as velvet! He’ll cuddle next to you on the couch but is also content to lounge on the floor next to your feet. He gets along with other dogs but doesn’t really interact with them.  Nino is a good eater and likes just about everything, including cucumbers and cauliflower! He enjoys exploring and walks well on leash.  He is house trained and will go to the door (or whine) when he needs to go outside.  He is very food driven and also very smart, which makes him easy to train.  He wants to please and will do just about anything for treats! He sleeps well (sleeps on his bed on the floor) and doesn’t demand to get up early (lets you sleep in if you want!)   Due to his slow start in life, Nino is a little on the nervous side.  He needs more time with a human parent who will help show him the world and build his confidence.  Obedience training with his new human is a requirement in order to continue building his trust and confidence.  He enjoys his training sessions with his foster mom and may eventually also like to do other forms of training such as agility. Nino is crate trained but doesn’t require being confined to a crate when he is home alone. He doesn’t get into things he shouldn’t, so hurting himself or making messes should not be much of a concern.  He is also fine with being left alone. I think he enjoys the peace and quiet Nino will need a quiet home with a person experienced with the poodle breed or who has a calm demeanor.  He tends to be concerned when meeting new people, so a household that has lots of people coming and going is not a good fit.    This little guy has the potential to make someone a great companion, but no small children.  He is curious about cats but doesn’t chase them.  Update from his foster:  Nino has come a long way!  Not only does his foster state that his confidence has grown, since going to training, but he also loves it when she teaches him things-loves treats and loves doing things to earn them. He also would make a good hiking companion. (He’s calm in the house but has plenty of endurance when hiking.)  His foster does not recommend that Nino be placeed in a home with children or with lots of people coming and going, but he is very suitable for a calm home/owner who can provide consistent guidance.    If you are interested in Nino, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 15, 2026, 10:55 am
