Story
✨Meet Barney!✨ Barney was originally brought into a shelter in Philadelphia after being surrendered by his previous family due to concerns about his health after purchasing him from a breeder. This breeder was reported to have a litter of puppies all infected with Parvo given to various families. The owners would not share the breeder’s information but were advised that all puppies exposed to this virus were in danger of dying and to please contact all other littermates and tell them to bring the dogs to the vet or surrender them to get them care. Barney tested positive for Parvo and therefore was in need of a rescue to provide them lifesaving medical care. We gladly stepped up, and gave Barney all the medical care he desperately needed. Along with a lot of love and supportive care Barney now has fully recovered and is ready for a home of his own! Barney is a 2 month old Maltese/miniature poodle mixed breed who is full of happiness for his second chance at life! Barney is a young and happy puppy that will require a family up to the task of providing him the ample physical and mental exercise and training that all dogs require. Puppies require a family who can continue their basic training and socialization skills to grow into confident and happy adult dogs! All dogs require an adjustment period after adoption to decompress and acclimate to their new home, routine, housemates, and environment. Patience, consistency, and guidance are required to help them successfully transition and become a part of their new family! If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾 Angel’s Retreat West Chester, PA PA Kennel License 17335

Story
Coconut(Coco)is an 8yo Maltese weighing 8lbs that we rescued from a commercial breeding kennel.  Coco is learning what it means to live in a home - steps, new noises, doors, touch, TV’s, leashes etc. Coco had to have her remaining teeth removed due to decay but has no trouble eating soft food. She has a great appetite. She goes potty outside, walks around the neighborhood on a leash, enjoys good soft food and exploring the yard. She is fascinated with all the birds and squirrels. She loves liverwurst, chicken and beef hot dogs so she will come and take from my hand and if the refrigerator door opens, she runs over just in check if it’s something for her.  She is good in the crate overnight and I have left her for 3-4 hours during the day with no problem.  She knows “go potty”.  Her crate has also been dry overnight. She will need another calm dog in the home to show her the ropes and build her confidence. I do have a fenced yard and that would be preferred as she loves it. But if no fence, she will need to be on a leash to be safe. Mill dogs make the best pets ever who will bond with you forever. Her fur is growing in as she came in shaved.  The brown is from licking with a mouth full of bacteria from bad teeth and with good food and regular grooming, her looks will blossom. Coconut is now spayed, up to date with vaccines and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworm and has been started on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250.00. If interested in adopting Coconut,  please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application. Story
OB 5-12-2019 Elias is a retired puppy mill worker, he was stuck in a cage for 5 years of his life from the time he was born. When he came he was so thin, his teeth were totally rotten and he couldn't eat. Well that was his old life, not his new life! Elias has been neutered, all teeth had to be removed, he was heartworm negative and is now on ProHeart6, up to date on all shots and has become a little on the porky side! Elias would love to have his own home now, something he never had hopes of is a reality for him now. Elias is crate trained, gets along with other little dogs, would love to be loved by someone who knew how special he is. Elias's adoption fee is 500.00, this transport fee is 165.00. Our transport is HEARTS LLC, the only one we use for our kids! The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
