Story
Enzo is a 9 year old neutered male maltese who weighs 9 pounds. He was surrendered to our care when his elderly owner had no one to care for them and she was afraid of them having nowhere to go if something happened to her. Our hearts break for these pups because she definitely loved them, but they were outside dogs that have never known a nice home or soft bed. Enzo is a happy, love bug who loves living inside now and he has tested well with other dogs. Story
KENNEL ID #18804Heff is a 9 lb, 6-year-old Maltese who recently retired from a commercial breeding kennel. For most of his life, his only job was making puppies, so he’s still learning what it means to simply be a loved family dog. Heff is a very sweet little guy, but he’s understandably shy and unsure in new situations due to limited socialization. He enjoys being gently picked up and petted, though he may be nervous at first. While he doesn’t seek out attention yet, it’s clear he wants to trust and is making progress every day. Heff will need a patient adopter who understands that love, time, and consistency will help him continue to blossom. He thrives around other dogs and must have a confident canine companion in his new home to help him learn the routines of family life and build his confidence. A quiet home without young children would be the best fit for Heff. If you have a gentle heart and the patience to help this deserving little guy discover how wonderful life can be, Heff will reward you by becoming a loyal companion. Adoption Fee $400Thank you for your interest in rescue. If you would like to be considered for adoption, please submit an application to adopt. Story
✨Meet Ivory!✨ Ivory is a Maltese who came into us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County. Ivory had a very difficult life before coming to us, being used as a mill mama her entire life. She is shut down at this time but is slowly starting to give us her trust. We are confident she will make a wonderful family member for a very lucky family, who understands her past and gives her the time she needs to trust them and her new surroundings. Ivory loves other animals, and will thrive in a home with at least one other dog. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is life-changing—for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on. They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key! We promise there is nothing that compares to gaining the love and trust of a mill mama, but it requires intentional effort and commitment from their new family. With the right guidance, puppy mill survivors can blossom into well-socialized, joyful dog- so our goal is always to ensure every adopter is fully prepared to give them the life and environment they need to truly thrive! If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾 Angel’s Retreat www.angelsretreat.org West Chester, PA PA Kennel License 17335

Story
Hello, my name is: MiaApprox. DOB: 01/24/2023Weight: 9.9 lbsSex/breed: Spayed female Maltese/Poodle mixRescued from: Owner surrenderMeet Mia, a professional people greeter, neighborhood watch captain, and certified lap dog! This sweet girl is happiest when she’s with her humans, spending all day in your lap if you let her. She loves giving kisses and will even try to leap straight into your arms for a cuddle. She enjoys walks, is curious about the world around her, and can often be found keeping an eye on everything happening outside the window.Don’t let her cuddly side fool you—Mia is also an active, energetic girl who loves to play and stay on the move! She’s still working on her house training and learning her manners, including which surfaces are appropriate for lounging (she’s currently made a strong case that the kitchen table is prime real estate). She’s a fun, spirited girl who will keep you smiling as she continues to learn.Mia has been selective about her canine friends, so she’d do best as the one-and-only dog in her forever home, though she’s perfectly happy to hang out around other dogs. Dog-savvy cats could make good roommates. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, slightly mischievous companion who will keep your lap warm and your neighborhood under surveillance, Mia just might be your girl! All our pets are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.Interested in adopting?
