At just 6 pounds, Pilaf is a 5-year-old Maltese gentleman and retired commercial farm papa who's discovering what life outside of a kennel can be. He's not looking for someone to shower him with hugs and kisses—in fact, he'd respectfully prefer you admire him from a comfortable distance. Humans are still a little scary to him, but other dogs? They're his favorite. A confident canine friend is at the top of his wish list, and he'll happily follow their lead as he continues learning that the world isn't such a scary place. Despite having no teeth, this little guy proudly crunches kibble like a champion. He's proof that determination comes in tiny, fluffy packages. His ideal evening looks something like this: you on one end of the couch, him on the other, quietly enjoying your company without the pressure of being touched. It's his version of saying, "I like you." Because he's still building confidence, Pilaf will need a securely fenced yard where he can safely explore and do his business without the stress of leash walks. Hey there — I'm Cartman, but everyone calls me Carti! 🐾 I'm a 4-month-old Maltese boy ready to bring the party into your home 🥳🎉 I just ask that you Respect my Authoritah!! 🤣🤣 I have a big voice and I like to use it 📢 But I am also affectionate, cuddly, and love being around people — plus I'm smart and playful, which means I'll keep you entertained and laughing every single day! I enjoy other dogs but I can be a bit much for the seniors, if ya know what I mean 🙃 I like kids too as long as they are respectful and understand I'm a little guy, but with a big personality 😃 I am doing well with both leash training and house-training. However, I am still a puppy and will need my forever family to keep working with me. When foster mom is not home and at night, I play and rest in a playpen. It gives me a little more room than a crate. Carti was surrendered by a commercial breeder because of an overbite. When he was neutered, his lower canines were also removed as they were pushing into his upper palette. These were baby teeth and he should have a fine set of pearly white adult teeth in no time. He is up to date with vaccines and preventatives and has been microchipped. Carti is being fostered in Collegeville, Montgomery County. A home visit and meet and greet with all family members is part of the application process. For most of his life, his only job was making puppies, so he’s still learning what it means to simply be a loved family dog. Heff is a very sweet little guy, but he’s understandably shy and unsure in new situations due to limited socialization. He enjoys being gently picked up and petted, though he may be nervous at first. While he doesn’t seek out attention yet, it’s clear he wants to trust and is making progress every day. Heff will need a patient adopter who understands that love, time, and consistency will help him continue to blossom. He thrives around other dogs and must have a confident canine companion in his new home to help him learn the routines of family life and build his confidence. A quiet home without young children would be the best fit for Heff. CASHMERE is also still looking for her furever home.  Cashmere(Cash) is a 7 yo Maltese weighing 12 lbs that we rescued from a commercial breeding kennel. Cash had to have her remaining teeth removed due to decay but has no trouble eating food. She has a great appetite and runs over when hears the refrigerator door opening. She goes potty outside, walks daily around the neighborhood on a leash, enjoys good soft food and exploring the yard. She is good with every dog we meet and our pitbull. She is good in the crate overnight and I have left her for 4-5 hours during the day with no problem.  She knows “go potty”.  Her crate has also been dry overnight. She will also be happy to sleep in your bed with you all night. She knows come, time to eat, let’s go for a walk, and of course No. She will need another calm dog in the home to show her the ropes and build her confidence. I do have a fenced yard and that would be preferred as she loves it. But if no fence, she will need to be on a leash to be safe and need a daily walk or two. She gets so excited for her walks and walks at a good pace. She is still shy and will need someone with patience and know that it takes time for them to trust you. Mill dogs make the best pets ever who will bond with you forever.  Cashmere is now spayed, up to date with vaccines and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworm and has been started on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250.00.
