Story
Meet Prince Hans, a 9-year-old, 9-pound Maltese with a big personality packed into a tiny body! Don’t let his age fool you—Hans is full of energy and always ready for fun and a little mischief. With his big brown eyes and charming personality, this handsome little prince knows exactly how to win people over. He’s also quite the athlete and can jump surprisingly high for such a small dog! True to his breed, Hans is the ultimate lapdog. One of his favorite places to be is curled up in a cozy ball on his foster mom’s lap. He loves gentle affection, especially kisses on the top of his head, and he quickly forms strong bonds with the people who care for him. Hans doesn’t let his past define him. When he first arrived at his foster home, he was understandably timid and anxious after spending much of his life as a breeding dog. Even so, he showed a remarkable willingness to trust. From the moment he arrived, he wanted to stay close to his foster mom and has continued to grow more confident each day. Hans walks beautifully on a leash and absolutely loves spending time outside. In fact, he’s become a bit of a neighborhood celebrity and happily greets neighbors who stop to say hello. He is curious about everything around him and enjoys exploring all the sights, sounds, and smells of the neighborhood. Because of his small size and mischievous nature, however, time outside in a fenced yard should be supervised. Hans thrives on routine. Thanks to his consistent daily schedule, he has done very well with house training in his foster home. Like many dogs, he may experience some temporary regression when adjusting to a new environment, but patience and routine will help him succeed. He does well in his crate and sleeps peacefully in it at night, though he may bark briefly when first crated during the day—he simply prefers being close to his people. Hans also gets along well with other dogs. Hans is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, microchipped, and recently had a dental procedure. He currently has no teeth but doesn’t let that slow him down one bit! His favorite toys are Nylabones, and he loves a good game of tug-of-war—just be sure to let him win. He eats kibble that is softened with a mix of low-sodium chicken broth and water. Hans has been diagnosed with myxomatous mitral valve disease (a preclinical form of heart disease) and takes Pimobendan twice daily. Aside from his heart murmur, he shows no symptoms and still has plenty of energy and zest for life. As a Maltese, Hans will also need regular grooming and brushing to keep his soft coat healthy. The most important requirement for adopting Hans is being ready to welcome plenty of fun, laughter, cuddles, and a little bit of mischief into your life. If you’re looking for a charming, affectionate companion with lots of personality, Prince Hans may be the perfect addition to your family. Hans is currently being fostered in Mechanicsburg. www.zoeshouserescue.com Kennel license: 9117 PO box 2372 Reading, PA 19608

Story
Coconut(Coco)is an 8yo Maltese weighing 8lbs that we rescued from a commercial breeding kennel.  Coco is learning what it means to live in a home - steps, new noises, doors, touch, TV’s, leashes etc. Coco had to have her remaining teeth removed due to decay but has no trouble eating soft food. She has a great appetite. She goes potty outside, walks around the neighborhood on a leash, enjoys good soft food and exploring the yard. She is fascinated with all the birds and squirrels. She loves liverwurst, chicken and beef hot dogs so she will come and take from my hand and if the refrigerator door opens, she runs over just in check if it’s something for her.  She is good in the crate overnight and I have left her for 3-4 hours during the day with no problem.  She knows “go potty”.  Her crate has also been dry overnight. She will need another calm dog in the home to show her the ropes and build her confidence. I do have a fenced yard and that would be preferred as she loves it. But if no fence, she will need to be on a leash to be safe. Coconut and Cashmere could be adopted together if anyone is interested in two small dogs as very bonded.Mill dogs make the best pets ever who will bond with you forever. Her fur is growing in as she came in shaved.  The brown is from licking with a mouth full of bacteria from bad teeth and with good food and regular grooming, her looks will blossom.  Coconut is now spayed, up to date with vaccines and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworm and has been started on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250.00. If interested in adopting Coconut,  please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Cookie is incredibly sweet and loves everyone she meets. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, is just fine with cats, and absolutely adores people. True to her puppy nature, she has tons of energy and is always ready for playtime, zoomies, and snuggles after a fun day. Cookie would thrive in a forever home with another small dog to be her buddy and playmate. A securely fenced yard is also a must for this active girl so she can safely run and burn off her puppy+ energy. :)) REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another small dogVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Not good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
🩵 It's Winter! I am the adorable, 10lb Bichon and I am still patiently waiting for my forever family. In the meantime, I am making so much progress and I have become a more relaxed, playful and confident dog since I was sprung from the farm 3 months ago. AND I have figured out that I LOVE to snuggle close to my humans on the couch! If you are looking for a calm, adorable, snuggle buddy, I am your girl. My ideal forever family would include: ❄️ A calm home with patient humans and kids over 8sih. I am low energy and I prefer to spend my days napping in a sunny spot and getting lots of pets and snuggles. ❄️ A home with a secure fence that goes all the way to the ground. I am an escape artist and I figured out how to wiggle under the fence at my foster home. ❄️ A home where I can be free to roam. I HATE the crate! I sleep all night on a pillow next to my foster parents' bed and I don't make a peep and I have free reign of the house during the day. ❄️ A person or family who loves snuggles as much as I do. I was spayed and I am UTD on vaccinations and microchipped. I had an Xray of my right hip which showed some degenerative changes, but I don't appear to be in any discomfort. I will need to be on joint supplementation for the rest of my life, but I take medication without a problem when it's tucked into some soft food. I also had to have a few teeth pulled, but my foster mom says that I look like an adorable first grader, missing my front teeth. Potty training is a work in progress, if I am taken out at regular intervals, I am ok, I am working on the concept of "holding it" until my mom comes home from work to let me out, but when I am taken out regularly, I am fine. Regression is normal in new environments. If you are looking for a loyal companion and the cutest little button of a dog, I am your girl. I am being fostered in Western Berks County, PA. www.zoeshouserescue.com Zoe’s House Rescue Kennel License 9117 Sinking Spring, PA 19608
