Meet Fred! This big lug is a perfect gentleman. He sits nicely and listens very intently to anything you have to say. Fred is just looking to find someone he can sit with, and maybe give him some pets. He is very gentle and takes treats very nicely. He will carry around a toy for a bit, but he will quickly come back to ask for more affection. His big body is teeming with love and he would really like to share that with someone special. Story
Waldo is the kind of dog who reminds you that some of the very best relationships are worth taking your time. While the world can feel a little overwhelming to him at first, beneath that cautious exterior is an affectionate, goofy boy with so much love to give. Once Waldo feels safe, his personality begins to shine. He'll happily lean into you for comfort, rest his head—and sometimes even his paws—in your lap, and show off his playful, puppy-like side. He enjoys the quieter pace of life, making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates life's simple moments. Waldo thrives when he's given the opportunity to settle in at his own pace. As his confidence grows, so does his personality—and the bond you'll build together is incredibly rewarding. He'll be happiest in a calm, low-traffic home with adults who will continue helping him build confidence through patience, consistency, and kindness. Waldo has also found comfort in the company of larger dogs and may enjoy having a confident canine companion to help show him the ropes. If you're looking for a loyal companion and believe that the best friendships are built on trust, patience, and understanding, Waldo just might be the perfect match. Story
Neo is about 4 years old and is a Mastiff mix. I’ve had him since he was 2 months old after a friend’s dogs had an unexpected litter, and he has been raised in a loving home his entire life. Neo is a big, sweet boy who loves being close to his person. He can be skittish around new people and situations and needs a little time to warm up, but once he feels comfortable, he is incredibly affectionate and loyal. He loves relaxing around the house, being near his people, and sleeping in bed with me every night. Neo is completely house trained and has completed several weeks of professional training. He is extremely strong and still pulls on the leash, so he needs someone capable of handling a large dog. His ideal home would be with someone patient who will give him time to adjust and build trust. Neo is up to date on vaccinations, receives Simparica Trio monthly, has yearly veterinary checkups, has no special medical needs, and is not neutered. He is the sweetest boy you'll ever meet.

Tanner is a handsome boy! He loves to take walks and lean into you for pets. He is a great car rider and really doesn't care where you are headed - he just wants to go along. He gets along with other dogs, but doesn't actually need a canine companion. He is not all that playful. He would love to be doted on and receive all of your attention. He is a pretty low maintenance dog with a good attitude. The Adoption Fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering. Story
Meet Hunt, one of mama Valley’s puppies. Hunt is the couch potato from this litter of 10. He takes lots of naps in the coziest of spots. Mama Valley was found as a stray just days before giving birth. Thankfully one of our fosters took her home just in time, and her babies were born into a loving home on June 24. Hunt and his siblings are 8 weeks old as of August 19, and we already have the breed results back. According to the test, these pups are likely 75% American Staffordshire Terrier, 11% American Pit Bull Terrier, 6% Neapolitan Mastiff, 4% Cane Corso, 2% Rottweiler and 2% Beagle. The test predicted their full-grown weights could be anywhere from 44 to 71 lbs. These pups are sweet and very cuddly — just what you would expect from a Staffy. Cuddling is their number one hobby, whether it’s in a puppy pile or on top of their foster mom. Hunt is happiest eating right on schedule, playing in short bursts, and then finding the coziest spot to nap the day away. He’s a laid back, easygoing boy who loves lounging with his people. He even likes to cuddle with the cat in his foster home! Potty training is just beginning, so these pups will need forever homes that can offer the structure needed for them to become well-adjusted and potty-trained adult dogs. In their foster home, they have been exposed to kids, cats and other dogs. They’re ready for whatever adventure comes next! Apply today! If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate.
