We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 dog/cat that you are interested in.-Attach a copy of proof of home ownership (i.e. tax bill, deed, or mortgage payment – you can black out the account #, etc.) or animal clause/agreement of your rental agreement. This must be in a .jpeg format. If you are unable to send in this format, please be prepared to provide this documentation in another way prior to adoption.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other dogs/cats. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate Special Needs: None Physical Fence: Preferred / No Invisible Fences Nickname: Brock-Lobster Likes long walks, Sunbathing, Taste-Testing Arrival story: Brock was pulled from Detroit Animal Control Approximate age / Weight: 10-ish Years young, 95 LBS Hey guys - I’m so excited to meet you! I’m Brock! I’m about 10 years young, but my foster parents think I may be a bit younger. I love going for walks and am great on leash! I enjoy trotting around town checking out new spaces. I get bursts of energy throughout the day, so walks or playtime are needed so I can enjoy my best life. I’d probably enjoy adventuring, but I'm perfectly content to just lounge around. I love playing tug or chasing the ball outside or just relaxing and chewing on Benebones or other chews. Pigs ears and bully sticks are my absolute favorite. I’m also a bit of a foodie! I love trying new foods, but watch out! Sometimes I get over excited about treats and get a little too chompy, so watch your fingers. I love everyone I meet, but because of my size and energy around taking treats, I would do better in a home with teenagers or adults. I look forward to meeting you and hope I can become a special part of your family. Contact: Please contact wtdr@waggintailsdogrescue.org with any questions or submit adoption application via our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoption-application. ADOPTION INFO: We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar on our website for the date and time of the next adoption event. Arrangements can be made to meet a dog outside of adoption events after an application is submitted and approved. Our adoption process includes an application and in-home meet-n-greet with the dog. ADOPTION FEE Adult Dogs (over 6 months of age) $250 + $50 refundable Training deposit, if applicable. Puppies (under 6 months) $250 + $50 refundable Spay/Neuter deposit + $50 refundable Training deposit. Senior Dogs $125 +$50 refundable Training deposit, if applicable. **Please note: We encourage all newly adopted dogs to attend basic training (positive reinforcement) class with their adopters as it starts everyone off the right way and helps to build a trusting bond between dog and adopter. In most cases, this will be a requirement and a $50 refundable Training deposit fee will be applied to adoption and refundable upon proof of class completion.

Story
Are you looking for a sweet and lovable cuddle bug? If so, look no further then Elizabeth Bennet! Elizabeth is a happy good who just wants to be in the mix. She is so excited to meet you, and every other person you know. Elizabeth would love to be your little shadow and follow you around, she would make a great companion to everyone she meets. She also loves to get up and show off her silly side, Elizabeth loves to run around and play with toys. She hopes her new home has space for her to play lots of fetch and allows her to run around and get the zoomies. Another one of this girls favorite things has to be snacks, you are sure to win her heart with a few tasty treats or a yummy chew. When meeting dogs here at the shelter Elizabeth appeared interested in making friends but could sometimes be a little nervous and unsure of herself. We strongly recommend she meets all resident dogs in the home before adoption to make sure she is a good fit for your family. She would likely do best with a calm and social dog who will read her cues and give her space when she asks for it. Does Elizabeth Bennet sound like the perfect addition to your family? Come down and meet her today!Elizabeth Bennet's ideal home:- strongly recommend meeting dogs

Story
Introducing Larson! For those of you who have been holding out for a big boy - here he is in all his glory! Larson will make your couch look small - but he will also make your heart swell! We got this boy as an emergency surrender. We were actually taking Laser, another Rebel Dog, in for his second eye enucleation surgery when someone rushed in looking to euthanize Larson at our vet. Larson had bit someone because he was suffering from pain in his hind leg. He has a limp - due to painful overgrown dewclaws. Seeing this happy, goofy, big boy who clearly has a lot of potential, we opted to step in and offered to save his life as a surrender. We have spent the past two weeks getting to know Larson, and have found him a laid back guy with a sense of adventure and humor. We have already scheduled his dewclaw removal surgery. We are hopeful this will help Larson feel better and that he can live a long life, pain-free in a loving home. Animals bite when in pain. They almost always tell us that they are going to bite -with whatever language is available to them - prior to biting. We can help them expand their language, but first- it is our job to learn how to read the language they currently have, and help them feel safe around their boundaries and needs. We find that Larson has great communication skills and is ready to meet his new family very soon! We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home for him. Interested? Story
Klutz alert! Slobber warning! Yak was secured as a a stray a while back, and has now spent some time with us at the shelter. While a young mastiff mix is not the perfect match for all households - we know there must be someone out there wanting Yak! 1 year old, clumsy and bouncy, already neutered and ready to learn everything you want to teach him! Yak loves sharing his affection and enthusiasm with everyone he meets. He wants to hold onto his toys, but still allows for some fetch play. Yak is not barking at the other dogs at the shelter. He is ready to go as a foster or a foster-to-adopt immediately. Yak is a big puppy who needs consistency and a small world to succeed. Please share and tag lovers of big boys. rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt Included in the adoption fee of $275 is up to date vet care, vaccines, dewormer microchip and neuter.
