Story
What a big, handsome lug! Parker is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 61 pounds. Meet Parker, an affectionate young boy who is looking for his forever home. He is such a big dufus at heart, just craving closeness and needs to be touching you while sitting next to you! Parker loves nothing more than to be by your side, leaning in softly for a pat or a cuddle. With a gentle mouth, he is always careful with a soft mouth relinquish of his toys and easily gives up his raw hide. Parker is a smart boy who is very attentive to his handler and thrives with guidance, structure, and leadership. He does use his full body to interact and could use a basic manners refresher, he has tons of potential and is just waiting for the right family to unlock it. A yard for him to run off his energy would be perfect! He will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old. Parker would really like if if you came to meet him, he can't wait for a family to love him. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Parker would love to meet them. He has a friendly, calm, loose approach with other dogs. If you are interested in Parker and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Hi my name is Medusa! I am a good girl and I am looking for an active owner willing to offer training and exercise, but in return I can offer unconditional love and years of happiness. I do have some big feelings about some things in this world and tend to express this by reacting with barking and may be a bit too much for some families. I will need to continue my training and HSHV offers classes for dogs like me! Visit www.hshv.org for more information. I’m a high energy dog, I love to jump and play. My energy may not be suitable for young children. I can be selective when it comes to new friends, so I’d like to meet any potential dog siblings before I go home.

Story
Hi my name is Aberdeen! I am a shy kind of dog who is looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. Once I get more comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an adoption survey online or in the shelter. I love to play but I can be sensitive when it gets to be too much, I may do best in a home without young children or other dogs.

Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!

Story
Meet Goose!! Goose is eagerly awaiting life with his forever family! He is the sweetest little Mastiff/Boxer mix you’ll ever meet! He has an estimated birthdate of 1/9/24 and weighs in at a whopping 86 pounds of charm and delight… and he’s currently underweight This super strong boy is great with other dogs and absolutely LOVES people!! Kids are his absolute favorite!! Goose is current on his vaccines but, because he had not been taken care of properly he’s tested positive for heartworms and is being treated for heartworms on slow kill method by The Artemis Project. But don’t let that stop you because the rescue will continue to provide and fund the medications for the duration of his treatment even after he is adopted Bottom line - he is SO ready for a wonderful life with… YOU!!. Please give this beautiful boy a chance to win your heart and become your best friend forever! He is looking for his forever family… that very well may be you!
