He was found alone in a public park with an injured leg and later diagnosed with Lyme disease. At the time, he wasn’t used to living indoors, being around people, or even enjoying treats… all signs that he likely hadn’t experienced much comfort or stability early in life. Since then, he’s made incredible progress in foster care, learning that the world can be safe, kind, and full of love. PERSONALITY: Atticus is a goofy, friendly, big-hearted boy with an unbeatable outlook on life. This very friendly boy certainly knows how to work the room with that big grin. He’s obedient and great with other dogs but would also love you to teach him some new tricks. He has a playful, slightly sassy sense of humor and loves making his people smile. While loud noises and sudden movements can still startle him, he continues to grow more confident every day. He was initially nervous around men but has made wonderful strides and is becoming more relaxed and trusting with time and patience. He’s affectionate, gently, and happiest when he is close to his human and canine companions – a true velcro dog who just wants to belong. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Peanut butter and all kinds of treats Playing with stuffed toys (and impressively not eating the stuffing!) MEDICAL ISSUES: Atticus was treated for Lyme disease and is doing well; he responded well to the medicine is a great medicine taker. Veterinarians believe he previously had a broken front leg that is healing nicely and is expected to continue improving with no surgery. He will benefit from routine vet care and continued monitoring as he grows. Atticus is a strong, resilient boy with a bright future. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Atticus would thrive in a loving, active home with a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and play safely. HISTORY: One owner who did not provide basic medical care so Izzy lived many year with out of control skin issues, ear infections, UTI’s, etc. PERSONALITY: Izzy is a sweet, friendly girl that loves meeting new people and welcoming them into the house. She loves attention and affection and will lean in hard for pets and ear scratches. She tends to spend her days snoozing away but when she gets the zoomies she takes them seriously and this girl can move despite her age.  She lives peacefully with a 60lb male mixed breed but is reactive when seeing dogs out on a walk. Izzy is a bit fearful of fireworks and thunderstorms and will sometimes get spooked by loud noises. Izzy likes things to happen on her own personal timeline and can be stubborn when they don’t. She will test limits by whining and carrying on (dancing around, stomping her feet, wagging her tail furiously while staring at you) to try to get her way. She’s learning that those things don’t work in our house but it’s hard not to laugh at her antics. She’ll do it to the other dog in the house too when he’s laying in a bed that she wants. She usually gets her way with the dog.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Napping, soaking up love and attention, laying in the sun MEDICAL ISSUES: With vet care and a quality diet Izzy’s skin issues and ear infections have cleared up and she is no longer a big itchy mess. She did have a mammary tumor removed while being spayed. She is not currently on any medications. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Izzy enjoys hanging out with her people, so a family that spends a lot of time around the house/yard/garden would be great for her.
