Sasha is a sweet female Mastiff mix, 69 lbs and about 1½ years old, who is looking for a safe place to land. She was found as a stray and is believed to have possibly been hit by a car. A veterinary exam showed no broken bones, which is great news, but she is still being monitored for any possible after effects.Sasha is a bit timid at first, which is understandable given what she has likely been through. With a slow approach and a calm, gentle greeting, she begins to relax and show her softer side. She walks well on a leash and seems to appreciate quiet reassurance.As we spend more time getting to know Sasha, we will continue to share updates about her personality and needs. Here are fun facts his owner wants you to know: - Twix / 3yo / Male/ Neutered / 65 lbs / In great health - Mastiff/Herding mix - Up to date on vax since 8/25/25 - Will do best with experienced, active dog owners who would be able to be consistent with good daily habits to strengthen his foundational training. No other animals, no small children in the house. - Has had multiple professional training experiences, all successful. Quick improvements in training sessions. He is passionate about learning. - Housetrained and very communicative about needing the bathroom. Will whine/grumble, give paw or look at door. - He is crate trained and loves his crate. He will crate himself to take naps throughout the day and also will tuck himself to bed when the sun goes down and sleeps through the night. - Not destructive in the home at all, even when left alone. No separation anxiety. - Walks nice on leash! Big sniffer. Knows heel. - Energy level is average/medium. Will match your energy to be very active or a couch potato. Greets with excitement for just a few minutes. - Shines with his family/pack and loves physical and verbal affection. - Total silly playful goofball and sweetie pie who just wants to love. - Loves long walks (hiking and camping), swimming, tug and fetch. - Nervous when not introduced to new dogs and new people but eased with structured introduction or pack walk. 100% success rate when introduced to new people. Selectively reactive with intact males. - No cats is best. He is ok with cats if the cat leaves the dog alone. He lived 2 years with a male cat and they kept to themselves and lived peacefully. - Not socialized around kids. Unknown. - Resource guards around main meals and high value treats, but not with training treats. Very easy to train (food motivated). Does not protect empty bowl. - One bite due to mishandling by his previous owner. The dog was nervous around a stranger and the previous owner did not intro or deescalate then dropped leash. After a professional reactivity evaluation, a trainer assessed him to be safe and not serious about bites. - Previous owner got him as a puppy from a friend’s litter. I’m Duke I’m a loving, cute, sleepy guy who’s looking for a family to call my own.I love going on walks (even if I still pull a bit because I’m excited to say hi), then coming home to do what I do best: rest, snuggle, and keep you company. My energy level is pretty low - I’m more of a chill buddy” than “marathon runner.” At home, I’m super sweet and really want to please you. I’m still learning my commands (food helps ), but I’m trying every day. I listen when I’m told to leave things alone, play gently with other dogs, and I’m respectful with cats - even if I really want to be friends. I’ll sit on the couch and watch the cat like it’s my favorite show. I sleep in my crate at night and during the day, but I’m still learning that it’s a safe space - especially when treats are involved. I’d do best with someone patient, calm, who has experience with bigger dogs like me - who are still learning!I’m only 2 years old and I weigh about 120 lbs, but I’m on the skinny side and working on gaining healthy weight with regular meals.
