Story
Kodiak is the true definition of an adventure buddy! Do you enjoy hiking, running, biking, swimming or exploring? Kodiak is the perfect dog for you! In fact he is already and waiting at the door for you! He is an intelligent dog who is capable of learning extremely quickly. He already knows the commands sit, down, stay, come, and speak! Kodiak’s greatest strength is his loyalty; Up or down, good or bad, happy or sad it will be Kodiak and you against the world. What makes Kodiak special is that he has so much love to give. The exact reasons you are looking for a dog are the same reason Kodiak desperately wants his forever human. He will need a very active adult-only family to drain his energy in order to keep him happy. Kodiak is looking for an experienced and confident owner to continue working on his reactivity to dogs and new people. He will need a strong leader to slowly introduce him to new people using the methods he has been taught while at Dog Tales. Kodiak is not friendly with strangers, children or other animals. Therefore he will need to live in a house with a fully fenced backyard. Once he is comfortable with a person he will become very attached and a great listener. Kodiak is looking for his chance with someone special. Upon adoption, Dog Tales can provide training for Kodiak and you in order to set you up for success.

Story
Sociable, Affectionate, People-LoverCharlie has a gentle, friendly heart. Now, she’s ready for the one thing she’s waited so patiently for: a true forever home filled with love, comfort, and kindness —could it be with you? ABOUT CHARLIE: - Mastiff/Boerboel mix, approximately 7 yr old, female, medium/high energy and large (80lb)- Charlie is incredibly affectionate, she’ll happily lean her giant self into you for snuggles and will melt for a good butt rub (her favourite)- She enjoys calm companionship, cozy naps, and simply being near those she trusts- Charlie responds well to gentle, consistent boundaries and routine- She is well-behaved and calm in the home; she can be dog reactive on a walk. Our Certified Dog Trainer is currently working with her on this and will continue to work with her forever family post-adoption- Charlie is spayed, house-trained, microchipped and has her core vaccinations CHARLIE’S IDEAL HOME:- Charlie’s ideal home is with an active person, comfortable with a large breed dog- She would do best in a peaceful home, with a regular routine, where she can finally relax, be herself, and know she’s safe for good.- Someone who is retired, works part-time, or works from home would be ideal- Charlie may do best in a home without small children (as she is a big girl who may knock a little one down inadvertently) - We are recommending her for a home with a fenced yard where she can enjoy her favourite things - tug-of-war and enrichment games that challenge this smarty-pants- Charlie has been doing great with socializing with other low-medium energy dogs in the shelter so she may do well with a doggy companion, this would be determined in a meet and greetIf you have questions about Charlie, please contact her adoption coordinator at: dog.foster.manager@etobicokehumanesociety.com

Story
Hello there! My name is Thor, Male - neuteredMastiff x American Bulldog MixApprox. 1 year, 6 months oldI'm a big lovable marshmallow in a BIG package. You'll find that my heart is just as large as my frame, and I'm ready to share all the love I have with my forever family. When it comes to people, I'm friendly but can be a little nervous, especially around sudden movements. I thrive best with slow and gentle introductions. Once I feel comfortable, I'm your classic wiggle bug, eager to make friends and soak up all the affection you have to offer.I haven't quite figured out which toys I like best yet, but I'm excited to explore and find my favourites with you! What really gets my tail wagging is praise, treats, and people. I'm highly motivated by love and snacks, which will make training and bonding with me a delightful experience.I'm still working on my basic training, which means we can learn together. With your guidance and a few tasty treats, I'm sure to pick up on commands and become the well-mannered companion you're looking for.So, if you're looking for a gentle giant who will fill your home with love and laughter, I'm your guy.
