Hello! My name is Astro!I'm a very friendly boy who loves cuddles and snuggles and meeting new people. I may be 2 years old, but my goofy nature and exuberance are very puppy-like. I'm super treat-motivated and eager to learn but I'm still working on taking treats gently - silly me, I thought I was supposed to use all my teeth to grab the treats! I'm a strong boy and looking for a strong owner who will not be pulled over when walking me. MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Yes, older and mature. No young or small kids who could be knocked over.OTHER DOGS: Yes, but they have to be big and playful like me. I am a lot of dog and am still learning how to not be too much for other dogs during play.CATS: Potentially, I have lived with a cat but I am quite exuberant so any future cat friends would have to be very confident around big dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Potentially, if you have strong dog knowledge and experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended for my energy level and size.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any, however, yard is recommended.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarilySOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-highI'M ON A PRESCRIPTION DIET: No HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes, but I may have accidents in the beginning as I adjust. Meet WEDGIE!! This handsome hunk is a whopping 50 kg and is ready to find his perfect family. Wedgie is a friendly, enthusiastic dog that appears to really like people and dogs. Like, REALLY, like them. To the point where he will drag you to whoever or whatever he’s interested in. The good news? Wedgie is VERY food motivated. At the sound of a crinkling treat bag he will offer a “sit” and “paw” before you even have to ask. As with many mastiffs, Wedgie is a DROOL machine, so his new family must be prepared for wet kisses. ALL. THE. WET. KISSES. While Wedgie tries to be a gentle giant... he just isn`t. He would benefit from some training so he doesn`t jump up (or knock over!) his humans. Please contact Toronto Animal Services West shelter at (416) 338-PAWS (7297) to start the adoption process. Please note that meet and greets are done by appointment.

Handsome is a bouncy and energetic boy! He loves pets and affection from his people. He enjoys spending his time playing with all kinds of toys, running around in the yard, and playing rough. He will always take treats and is eager to learn new things. Due to his fear of new people, he can be reactive to strangers, but he has made great improvements during his time with us. He is working on his leash manners but overall walks nicely and likes to engage with us.

He will need a strong leader to slowly introduce him to new people using the methods he has been taught while at Dog Tales. Kodiak is not friendly with strangers, children or other animals. Therefore he will need to live in a house with a fully fenced backyard. Once he is comfortable with a person he will become very attached and a great listener. Kodiak is looking for his chance with someone special. Upon adoption, Dog Tales can provide training for Kodiak and you in order to set you up for success.
