Story
Handsome is a bouncy and energetic boy! He loves pets and affection from his people. He enjoys spending his time playing with all kinds of toys, running around in the yard, and playing rough. He will always take treats and is eager to learn new things. Due to his fear of new people, he can be reactive to strangers, but he has made great improvements during his time with us. He is working on his leash manners but overall walks nicely and likes to engage with us.

Story
Kodiak is the true definition of an adventure buddy! Do you enjoy hiking, running, biking, swimming or exploring? Kodiak is the perfect dog for you! In fact he is already and waiting at the door for you! He is an intelligent dog who is capable of learning extremely quickly. He already knows the commands sit, down, stay, come, and speak! Kodiak’s greatest strength is his loyalty; Up or down, good or bad, happy or sad it will be Kodiak and you against the world. What makes Kodiak special is that he has so much love to give. The exact reasons you are looking for a dog are the same reason Kodiak desperately wants his forever human. He will need a very active adult-only family to drain his energy in order to keep him happy. Kodiak is looking for an experienced and confident owner to continue working on his reactivity to dogs and new people. He will need a strong leader to slowly introduce him to new people using the methods he has been taught while at Dog Tales. Kodiak is not friendly with strangers, children or other animals. Therefore he will need to live in a house with a fully fenced backyard. Once he is comfortable with a person he will become very attached and a great listener. Kodiak is looking for his chance with someone special. Upon adoption, Dog Tales can provide training for Kodiak and you in order to set you up for success.

Story
We acquired Simba from a breeder about 4 years ago. He is the sweetest boy and very obedient. We are looking for a loving home where he will be showered with affection and a lot of space indoors and out for him to roam or laze about (which is more his style). Simba does have what seems to be some gut issues and has had ear infections that we have treated in the past. His vet hasn’t been very helpful so I’m not sure but I just wanted whoever the lucky family is that takes this gentle giant to know the full picture. I wish we didn’t have to rehome him but my son had his adenoids removed due to the allergies and is still constantly sneazing and breaks out in hives whenever he touches anything Simba has touched. Simba is absolutely an angel. He’s super gentle and has never ever shown us any aggression. His bark is very handy in scaring away possible intruders and pesky sales people lol I want the best possible home for him, he deserves it.

Meet Gas Guzzler, the embodiment of a gentle giant with a heart as big as his paws who weights over 100lbs. Still in the process of revealing all his charms, Gas Guzzler requires a seasoned owner familiar with large breeds to unlock his full potential. Story
Meet WEDGIE!! This handsome hunk is a whopping 50 kg and is ready to find his perfect family. Wedgie is a friendly, enthusiastic dog that appears to really like people and dogs. Like, REALLY, like them. To the point where he will drag you to whoever or whatever he’s interested in. The good news? Wedgie is VERY food motivated. At the sound of a crinkling treat bag he will offer a “sit” and “paw” before you even have to ask. As with many mastiffs, Wedgie is a DROOL machine, so his new family must be prepared for wet kisses. ALL. THE. WET. KISSES. While Wedgie tries to be a gentle giant... he just isn`t. He would benefit from some training so he doesn`t jump up (or knock over!) his humans. Please contact Toronto Animal Services West shelter at (416) 338-PAWS (7297) to start the adoption process. Please note that meet and greets are done by appointment.

Story
Hello! My name is Astro!I'm a very friendly boy who loves cuddles and snuggles and meeting new people. I may be 2 years old, but my goofy nature and exuberance are very puppy-like. I'm super treat-motivated and eager to learn but I'm still working on taking treats gently - silly me, I thought I was supposed to use all my teeth to grab the treats! I'm a strong boy and looking for a strong owner who will not be pulled over when walking me. MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Yes, older and mature. No young or small kids who could be knocked over.OTHER DOGS: Yes, but they have to be big and playful like me. I am a lot of dog and am still learning how to not be too much for other dogs during play.CATS: Potentially, I have lived with a cat but I am quite exuberant so any future cat friends would have to be very confident around big dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Potentially, if you have strong dog knowledge and experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended for my energy level and size.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any, however, yard is recommended.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarilySOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-highI'M ON A PRESCRIPTION DIET: No HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes, but I may have accidents in the beginning as I adjust. And I do sometimes pee when I'm excited. If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the "adopt me" button to apply.

Story
Freddy has a very interesting story! He was a local stray that was running for weeks. Many people tried to catch him but he was very scared. Eventually Freddy was secured and brought to a local Humane Society. He was extremely underweight and had very sore paws from running for so long. He was never claimed which means he was most likely dumped to fend for himself. Freddy was transferred to us because he needed further evaluation and training. In a short period of time, we have seen Freddy evolve. He is learning to walk on a leash. He is very smart and knows sit and paw already! Freddy is extremely food motivated. He is strong and working on his leash manners. Freddy has extreme fear with strangers, especially tall men. He is looking for a teen or older family that will work on building his confidence. Freddy requires slow introductions to new people, therefore he would do best in a house with not too many visitors. Freddy is being evaluated with dogs and seems to do well with female dogs and also some male dogs that are calm and social.
