Story
Meet Abby Abby is a sweet, middle-aged lady who found herself at the shelter through no fault of her own. This big girl has a gentle heart and seems to find comfort simply in having her people nearby.New situations can be a little overwhelming for Abby, so she may need some patience and time to settle in when she first arrives at her forever home. Once she feels safe and comfortable, she’s happy to have her people close by. She does pull a bit on leash, but she is manageable and would likely benefit from a little practice and encouragement. When it comes to other dogs, Abby is perfectly content to mind her own business. She doesn’t seem to appreciate other dogs getting into her personal space, so she may be happiest as your one-and-only. That said, Abby has lived with at least one other dog before, so a calm, respectful canine companion may be a possibility with a slow, thoughtful introduction. What Abby really wants is a quiet, loving home where she can decompress, build confidence, and know that she’s finally safe and loved. She may need a little time to show you her true personality, but this deserving girl is ready for someone willing to give her that chance. If you have room in your heart for a big, sweet lady who just needs a little patience and a lot of love, Abby would love to meet you.

Story
Hi, I’m Grizzly, but you can call me Grizz, Big Grizz, Sir Grizz-a-lot, or whatever nickname you inevitably come up with for the enormous, goofy creature currently occupying your personal space.I’m a three-year-old Mastiff mix with a pretty big body and an even bigger personality. I came to the shelter after my person passed away, and while nobody knows much about my life before that, I likely spent some of my time living on the streets. I’ve had a bit of a harder start than most, so I can be nervous when I encounter new people or things. The good news is that I’m a pretty quick study when it comes to realizing the world isn’t as scary as I initially thought. Give me a little time, and my inner giant baby comes bursting out.Once I’m comfortable, prepare yourself for approximately 100% SAPPY DOG. I love my humans, I love attention, and I would like nothing more than to go for a nice, leisurely walk where I can sniff absolutely everything, because apparently every smell is VERY IMPORTANT and must be investigated immediately. I’m actually pretty decent on leash, provided my nose doesn’t suddenly receive an urgent assignment and decide that we are absolutely, positively going in the opposite direction. After our walk, I’d like to come home, wedge my gigantic self between your legs, and receive approximately seventeen thousand pets. I am not above becoming a 100-pound lap dog if you allow it.I have met children and done well but because I’m still getting to know the world and my history is largely a mystery, I’ll need adopters who are willing to let me settle in at my own pace. One thing I can tell you with complete confidence is that cats are NOT my thing, so I need a cat-free home. I`m selective in my dog friends as well. I would need a calm respectful female dog friend if I must live with them and we would need to meet first to see if she is my right fit.If you’re looking for a big, goofy, slightly ridiculous sweetheart who will happily accompany you on long sniffy walks and then turn into the world’s largest cuddle bug, I might just be your guy.

Story
Meet Sloane - A Gentle Giant in the Making! Sloane is a sweet, loving Mastiff mix puppy with a heart full of potential and a personality that becomes more endearing every day. At just 5 months old and weighing approximately 43 pounds, this gentle girl is a beautiful example of how much love, patience, and positive experiences can help a shy puppy blossom. Sloane is a little reserved when meeting new people and may need some time to feel comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings. Once she begins to feel safe, her sweet personality shines through. She is a loving girl who enjoys being close to her people, and when she settles down in the house, she may choose to lie right on your feet just to be near you. Of course, she is still a puppy, and the occasional zoomie is always a possibility! Her larger size makes her puppy antics especially adorable. While working on her leash walking, Sloane has shown her playful, silly side by flopping onto her back and rolling around like a big puppy who hasn't quite figured out how to coordinate all those legs yet. These moments are a wonderful reminder that beneath her size is a young dog discovering the world and learning to enjoy being a puppy. Sloane is a bright girl who is picking up her training quickly. She is learning commands such as sit and stay, and she is making excellent progress with her house training. With regular trips outside and attention to her cues, she is very close to having this important skill mastered. She is also becoming comfortable with her crate and will happily self-crate during the day. At night, however, she would much rather be close to her people. Her affectionate nature makes her a wonderful candidate for a family who enjoys having their dog nearby and can continue helping her build confidence at her own pace. Sloane is good with women, men, children, and other dogs. She currently lives with seven cats and has quickly learned to respect their boundaries, which is a lovely reflection of her ability to learn and adapt. She does not bark excessively, is not food aggressive, and rides well in the car. She is still working on her leash skills, but she is not reactive toward people or other dogs. As a high-energy puppy, Sloane will thrive with a family ready to provide daily exercise, training, playtime, and plenty of positive experiences. A securely fenced yard is important for her, and a home with another friendly, well-socialized dog is preferred, as she is accustomed to canine companionship. Apartment living would not be the right fit for her. Sloane is looking for a loving family who understands that confidence takes time and that the best relationships are built through patience, trust, and consistency. In return, she has every opportunity to grow into a loyal, affectionate, and wonderful companion. If you have room in your heart and home for a big, beautiful puppy with a gentle soul, a playful spirit, and so much potential, Sloane would love the chance to meet you! * Good with women: Yes * Good with men: Yes * Good with children: Yes * Good with other dogs: Yes * Good with cats: Yes, currently living with seven cats and learning to respect their boundaries * House trained: Almost there; regular outdoor breaks and attention to cues are helping * Crate trained: Progressing well; self-crates during the day but prefers to sleep near her people * Leash walking: Learning * Leash reactive: No * Rides well in the car: Yes * Barker: No * Food aggressive: No * Destructive: Typical puppy behaviour, though she does not appear to be a particularly strong chewer * Needs a yard: Yes * Another dog preferred: Yes * Apartment living: Not recommended As with all newly adopted or fostered dogs, Sloane should be considered a flight risk while she adjusts to her new home. A secure environment and careful management during her transition will help keep her safe.
