Story
Meet Ezekiel. This budding senior was turned into a rural county shelter by his owner and was on the euthanasia list. One of our volunteers who works at the shelter advocated for him, and we were able to take him into the rescue. Ezekiel has proven to be a very sweet, easy-going, social boy who gets along well with everyone. We know he's going to make some new owners very happy. Ezekiel is being fostered by Christi and Dan and their pack of two pups. He acclimated quickly to his new home and does well with other dogs. They accepted him right away. He's already started playing with his pack and is a respectful playmate. While he enjoys the company of other dogs he's confident enough to be an only dog....as long as he has a human to curl up next to. He likes laying right next to you and is a very sweet companion. We have not seen him around cats, but feel he would be OK with them if they were laidback and dog savvy...he does not seem to have a high prey drive.  While Ezekiel was shy the first few days in his foster home, he's now fully engaged, and his charming personality has come out. He loves to snuggle and cuddle on the couch and has low-key energy but still likes to play and romp in the backyard. Ezekial gets daily walks in his foster home and does very well on leash. He loves his walks and enjoys taking in all the smells of his neighborhood. He does not bark at other dogs and is not fearful of traffic. Ezeikal is crate-trained and house-trained. He's been great at sharing space and treats with his pack and is not very interested in toys...that may come with time. He meets new people and dogs with ease and is ready-made to be someone's cuddly companion. We believe Ezekiel was once a cherished family dog—he’s deeply connected to his humans and becomes social and engaging once he settles in. This sweet boy is truly a gem. Apply today! BREED ESTIMATE: Chihuahua/Min Pin Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  13 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~  6 years old COAT TYPE: Short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/dental/microchipped LOCATION: Fairfax, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue that primarily adopts to families in the DC Metro area. March 24, 2025, 6:17 pm

Swizzle is part of the Garnish Cuts Litter of four (Swizzle, Twist, Sprig and Wedge). These little babies came all the way from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama with their mom, Daisy Mae. Momma Daisy Mae is a sweet 15-pound Min Pin mix who is about 1-2 years old (picture included). While Swizzle has loved spending time with her mom and siblings, she is now ready to find a loving home of her own. Could that be with you? Swizzle is your typical sweet and playful puppy. At her young age, she is in her prime for training and socialization too. Ready to bring a puppy into your family? Well, Swizzle is ready to bring the joy, fun and happiness that having a dog can bring. Apply today and give this very deserving girl the home of her dreams! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/. Female, 5 yrs old, 12.5 lbs Poppy is new to the rescue, and we can't wait to learn more about her. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue | Apply for Adoption Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
