Story
Meet New Arrival - Charlie! Charlie is about 2 years old and weighs about 26 lbs. Our best guess for Charlie's breed mix is Min Pin/Fiest Mix (just a guess). Charlie is a happy boy who has a good deal of energy and enjoys daily walks and play time. Once he has gotten his energy out he is happy to chill with you on the couch or snuggle in for a nap. Charlie is good with other dogs, but is not good with cats. Although Charlie is not in a foster home with children, we feel he would do well with children 5 years and up. Charlie would do best in a home where someone is around a good portion of the day. Charlie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from Canine and Kitties Rescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $375.00, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

This adorable special needs pair has everyone that meets them falling in love with them. Miss Maggie is so sweet and friendly. She loves to explore and enjoys attention, cuddles and love from humans. What strangers?? Everyone is her best bud! Mr Magoo came in with Miss Maggie and he came to us blind and mostly deaf. He recently under went eye surgery to restore his vision and he is recovering well. Miss Maggie has been his constant companion through it all. Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet boy looking for loving home ROCKY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME with no kids under 12 years of age!!!!   Name:Rocky      Best Guess for Breed: Min Pin/Chihuahua mix    Best Guess for Age: 6 years as of January 2024      SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight: 17 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs and cats. Rocky cannot go to a family with children under 12 years of age due to his size and breed.   Currently Living at: DC area foster   Special adoption considerations:  Rocky cannot go to a family with children under 12 years of age due to his size and breed. He also cannot live in an apartment.   Rocky D is Looking For: A forever home! This great little dog dreams of being on laps, licking faces, and more love! He definitely wants to go on walks and explore his neighborhood, and is up for any adventure, either walking by your side or riding with you. You see - this dog is the perfect size to go everywhere with you!   Rocky needs time to adjust to new situations and may be a bit anxious at first. He would do best in a quiet neighborhood. Rocky would prefer to wake up to the sound of birds chirping than big trucks and buses. What My Foster Says About Me: Well-trained, polite and sweet, and definitely a ladies’ man! Does not bark very often and can be protective. Rocky D is great at house-training, eats and drinks well, so if you want a gentle dog that still likes to play with toys and LOVES to snuggle with you, this is the dog for you. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online HERE . Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaa@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Royalty of CutenessPRINCE WOLFIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!     Name:  Prince Wolfie            Best Guess for Breed:  Miniature Pinscher/Terrier      Best Guess for Age:  7 weeks as of 4/12           SEX:  Male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 4lbs as of 4/5   Gets Along With:  Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Check out this video of Prince Wolfie: https://youtu.be/ju3_U1fmyEk.   Special Adoption Considerations:  Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Prince Wolfie is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Prince Wolfie! Me and my littermates, Princess Serafina and Prince Midas, have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me? What My Foster Says About Me: Prince Wolfie is full of personality! He loves to run around in the yard and play with his toys. PW prefers to be played with, rather than held, but will eventually settle down to sleep by your side. He loves to burrow underneath sheets/blankets, and is very food motivated! After a little contesting, he sleeps through the night, and wakes up around 8, ready to go out and go potty. We have two resident dogs, one 90lbs and one 12lbs — both of which he is curious about, but is very respectful of their space and is yet to try and engage.  Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than August 22, 2024. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.   Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP,Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
