**Meet Teddy on Saturday, December 6th from 10 am to 1 pm at Dublin Petsmart west, 6960 Amador Plaza Rd.** Adorable Teddy just came into our foster program. He's a sweet boy who's doing very well at his foster home. He loves belly rubs and nose scratches and he has been a very nice guest. He gets along with the resident dogs and he's house and crate trained. Teddy will need regular brushing, and grooming every 10 to 12 weeks. He is recovering from recent neuter surgery and will be ready for his new home soon. If you're interested in Teddy, you can submit an application by clicking the "Apply For Adoption box" located below his photos on the right side. I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereSweet Mel is ready for his forever home! Mel’s foster says that he loves to be your shadow. He takes a minute or two to warm up to new people, but then he will quietly follow you around the house, napping next to you on the couch or bed or bath mat. He likes to play with his stuffies and wrestling with his foster dad. Mel is VERY food motivated and will do anything for a treat or a chew! Overall, Mel is a very lovely companion. He can be left home alone for several hours after having his needs met. Mel is mostly potty trained but could use a little bit of brushing up, and he is working on crate training. He does well on leash and is friendly with other dogs. He could be an only dog or would also enjoy being paired with a gentle companion.  Mel has a medical condition that impacts his immune system and he is stable on medication. He will need an adopted willing to be committed to his ongoing care. Story
Hi everyone, I’m Bamboo Plant! I’m a 13-year-old neutered Poodle-ish  something mix. I’m free of parasites, fully vaccinated and microchipped. I wasn’t taken care of very well before I came to Umbrella of Hope. All my teeth had to be extracted but I’m feeling so much better now. My foster mom says I’m a lovable Poo  with a big heart, a sweet soul, and just a tiny jealous streak (especially when other dogs try to steal my spotlight ).  Fun facts about me:    I’m great on a leash — walkies are my thing!  I’m the best co-pilot for car rides. Windows down = ears flying.  Bedtime? I’m a pro snuggler. Tuck me in and I’ll snooze like a champ.  Treats? Say the word and I’m instantly motivated.     I’m well-mannered, mostly potty trained, and I’ve spent my life perfecting the role of “good boy.” I love cuddles, tasty snacks, and soaking up all the attention (sorry, other dogs). I do have KCS otherwise known as Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca, which means dry eye. This is a lifetime issue and I’ll need drops the rest of my life.  My foster mom applies drops to both eyes twice a day. I’m a good boy as long as the treats keep coming after I sit for them. I also have a heart murmur but no medicine needed at this time. I will have to see the vet regularly to monitor this.  Grooming is getting better on my part. I have to admit I wasn’t cooperating the first time. The noises really scared me. If you adopt me I will need regular grooming appointments every 6-8 weeks to stay as handsome as I am. Oh and more treats!!!  Adopt me and I promise you that you will enjoy more daily adventures, cozy naps, and short walks. All I want in return is plenty of love, a cozy bed and plenty of treats.      GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Yes Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: Yes Good with cats?: Unknown but does not have teeth... so Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet.  Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.   We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.  We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  September 27, 2025, 9:39 pm

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, November 29th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $700 Meet Bob Marley!   When Bob Marley, a 5 year old, 11 lb Poodle mix, arrived at the shelter, he was buried under severe mats and dreadlocks— so caked with urine, feces, and filth that the dog underneath was barely visible. Every tug of his coat caused him pain. Volunteers removed what they safely could, and at his professional grooming appointment, Bob had to be shaved all the way down. Now, beneath all that, a sweet, expressive Poodle mix has emerged— clean, comfortable, and ready to start fresh. His beautiful, fluffy coat will grow back, but Bob’s gentle heart is already on full display.   A Day in the Life   Bob wakes up between 7–9am, then heads into the backyard for a potty break and some morning playtime— anywhere from 30 minutes to a full hour. Breakfast follows: one cup of kibble topped with a jerky treat.   On workdays, Bob accompanies his foster to the doggy salon. He enjoys calmly roaming around, taking in the activity, and sometimes interacting with other dogs. He also gets a short crate break to relax.   On days off, the routine is the same, with added walks or zoomies around the house. His second meal is between 6–8pm.   Personality & Progress   In his first few days, Bob was anxious— pacing, struggling to settle. But as he began to feel safe, his tension slowly melted away. Now he can nap on his own, sleep through the night without whining, and relax comfortably even when his foster steps away.   Bob is a loving, affectionate, people-centered dog. He adores cuddles, thrives on attention, and is happiest when he’s near someone. He’s a classic velcro companion, following his person from room to room— but at bedtime, if he feels he’s gotten enough love for the day, he’ll put himself to bed without fuss. He’s tender, expressive, and truly just wants to belong.   Energy Level & Play Style   Bob has a spirited, lively personality. He enjoys activity, backyard time, and being included. He’s playful, bright, alert, and always ready for interaction. But he also knows how to settle and relax. He’s not a hyper dog—just an enthusiastic one with a happy tail and a big heart.   Leash Skills   Bob has gone on walks and does well overall—he doesn’t pull, doesn’t bark at other dogs, and isn’t distracted by squirrels. However, he may chew on his leash when he gets excited. With routine and consistency, this should improve easily.     Why Adopt Bob Marley?   Because he’s special.   Bob is joyful, loving, enthusiastic, and incredibly endearing. He has the biggest heart and a bright, expressive spirit. After surviving neglect, he hasn’t lost his faith in people—he still offers unconditional love, trust, and sweetness.   He’s the kind of dog who lights up a room with his wagging tail, who wants to be part of everything you do, and who will reward your love with limitless devotion.   Foster Favorite   Bob’s foster says her favorite thing is his unbelievable ability to spread joy. Whether it’s his happy tail, his energy, or just the pure love he radiates, Bob makes every day better. His presence alone can lift a mood—and he’s always ready to cuddle close and let you know he adores you.November 25, 2025, 9:21 pm

Story
Toffee Rose is a very sweet dog with adults (she has not been exposed to children). She is crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and she is quiet (rarely barks). She is OK around other pets but has moderate resource guarding behavior/possession aggression so she would do best being in an independent home without other dogs as well as cats. She really enjoys her walks but also loves being a couch potato.
