Story
It’s raining super seniors today at Muttville, so we’d like to extend a warm welcome to Salem! She’s a perfect poodle mix with silky soft fur who looks more like a petite plushie than doggo. Salem is a top-notch cuddler, so if you’re looking for a canine companion for your latest Netflix binge, she’s your girl. Although she lacks opposable thumbs, Salem has a warm, grandmotherly air that will leave you feeling that she’d like to offer you a cup of tea and a nice biscuit. She certainly won’t object if you decide to bestow a biscuit on her, because she loves a tasty treat. If you’re looking for a warm, comforting presence to make your house feel more homey, may we suggest Salem? Here's some notes from her foster: She is an absolute sweet, sweet girl and such a cuddle muffin! She’s been with me for five days and is acclimating well to our routines. She does well in car with a cozy bed to snuggle up in. She sleeps through the night, she has been sharing the bed with me and my other senior dogs. She does great on all stairs and is a wonderful walker - extremely agile for her estimated age (seems younger), and moves better than my two 12 year young pups! Salem love to cuddle right next to her person and is so sweet and gentle (the first few days she followed me everywhere, and now she is more comfortable) I’ve left her a few times (all under an hour) and she did not bark or cry (have pet cams to check) She only barks when my dogs bark or I am taking too long to prepare her food!

Story
Meet Coquita 🤍 Coquita is a petite, one-year-old poodle mix with soft, wispy fur and soulful eyes that make it very clear you are her favorite person. At just 13 pounds, she’s the perfect little companion for someone who wants a dog that truly bonds. She’s sweet, affectionate, and very people-focused. Coquita does well with other dogs and can comfortably coexist, but she definitely prefers human company. She’s the type who wants to stay close, follow you from room to room, and curl up nearby whenever possible. She’s good in her crate and settles well there, which gives her a sense of security. Coquita can be a bit needy, so she’ll thrive with someone who enjoys a close connection and can offer consistency, reassurance, and routine. She would do best in a home where she isn’t left alone for long stretches and where her affectionate nature is welcomed and understood. Coquita is gentle, loving, and ready to be someone’s little shadow and constant companion. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart and a strong preference for people, Coquita may be your perfect match. If you are interested in meeting please fill out an application at our website: www.gobeyondrescue.org/adopt Our adoption fee is $550 and includes spay/neuter, microchipping and up to date vaccines. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $700 Meet Bob Marley!   When Bob Marley, a 5 year old, 11 lb Poodle mix, arrived at the shelter, he was buried under severe mats and dreadlocks— so caked with urine, feces, and filth that the dog underneath was barely visible. Every tug of his coat caused him pain. Volunteers removed what they safely could, and at his professional grooming appointment, Bob had to be shaved all the way down. Now, beneath all that, a sweet, expressive Poodle mix has emerged— clean, comfortable, and ready to start fresh. His beautiful, fluffy coat will grow back, but Bob’s gentle heart is already on full display.   A Day in the Life   Bob wakes up between 7–9am, then heads into the backyard for a potty break and some morning playtime— anywhere from 30 minutes to a full hour. Breakfast follows: one cup of kibble topped with a jerky treat.   On workdays, Bob accompanies his foster to the doggy salon. He enjoys calmly roaming around, taking in the activity, and sometimes interacting with other dogs. He also gets a short crate break to relax.   On days off, the routine is the same, with added walks or zoomies around the house. His second meal is between 6–8pm.   Personality & Progress   In his first few days, Bob was anxious— pacing, struggling to settle. But as he began to feel safe, his tension slowly melted away. Now he can nap on his own, sleep through the night without whining, and relax comfortably even when his foster steps away.   Bob is a loving, affectionate, people-centered dog. He adores cuddles, thrives on attention, and is happiest when he’s near someone. He’s a classic velcro companion, following his person from room to room— but at bedtime, if he feels he’s gotten enough love for the day, he’ll put himself to bed without fuss. He’s tender, expressive, and truly just wants to belong.   Energy Level & Play Style   Bob has a spirited, lively personality. He enjoys activity, backyard time, and being included. He’s playful, bright, alert, and always ready for interaction. But he also knows how to settle and relax. He’s not a hyper dog—just an enthusiastic one with a happy tail and a big heart.   Leash Skills   Bob has gone on walks and does well overall—he doesn’t pull, doesn’t bark at other dogs, and isn’t distracted by squirrels. However, he may chew on his leash when he gets excited. With routine and consistency, this should improve easily.     Why Adopt Bob Marley?   Because he’s special.   Bob is joyful, loving, enthusiastic, and incredibly endearing. He has the biggest heart and a bright, expressive spirit. After surviving neglect, he hasn’t lost his faith in people—he still offers unconditional love, trust, and sweetness.   He’s the kind of dog who lights up a room with his wagging tail, who wants to be part of everything you do, and who will reward your love with limitless devotion.   Foster Favorite   Bob’s foster says her favorite thing is his unbelievable ability to spread joy. Whether it’s his happy tail, his energy, or just the pure love he radiates, Bob makes every day better. His presence alone can lift a mood—and he’s always ready to cuddle close and let you know he adores you.December 12, 2025, 3:44 am

Story
Tink is an 8-year-old miniature poodle that we adopted when she was one year old. She loves being around her family, and enjoys playing fetch, tug-of-war, rolling her ball off of every ledge imaginable, and sleeping in the sun. Finding a nice, quiet sun patch might be her favorite thing to do! Most of the time, Tink is calm and playful; however, she is a reactive dog and does have a bite history. About one year after adoption, she bit me as I was leaning in to kiss her, but did not realize she had a treat near her. This did cause bleeding, but the bite was superficial. Recently, she nipped at our two week old baby when she was crying. This did not leave a mark, and was a 'corrective nip'. We have spoken with three behavioralists, and all seem to think this behavior can be corrected. Tink is seeking a loving and quiet home where she is the only pet, and a home that is not too active, as her favorite thing to do is snuggle with her family while eating popcorn and watching tv
