I came from Garland Texas under the hospice program. But after addressing his medical concerns, I am becoming a senior adoptable. A few words from his foster: Yoko is a senior dog that came from Texas in July. He is vision impaired, sweet and smart. He is housebroken and does well on a schedule. Mostly after he eats he needs to go out fairly soon after. He does get daily eye drops and can give some tips to give them easy. He is a good sleeper. He can go up the stairs with no problems, is best to be carried down stairs and he has learned to navigate his way around really well with very limited eye sight. A baby gate would be best to limit his space if you have stairs just to start and he would do fine with being kenneled when gone. He is turning into a happy little dog and likes going on short walks. He loves to wander around and sniff everything. He really is a special dog. A quiet home without alot of excitement is best and does like his own space especially when he is sleeping. He is just a sweet, mellow boy who gets along with both my dog and cat so no issues if there are other animals in the house. Medical Bio/From the Vet: We are so excited that Yoko is ready to find his forever home. He has been in rescue for a little over 1 year, and in that time we have been able to successfully manage his medical conditions. He had glaucoma in both eyes, one of which could not be successfully managed, so treatment was removal of the eye. His left eye is managed on two medicated eye drops. His hyperthyroidism is well managed on an oral medication called Levothyroxine. Bloodwork is recommended every 6 months while on this medication to account for any dose changes that may be needed. He has been started on 2 different anti-anxiety medications to help with some fear based reactivity. The estimated total cost of Yoko's medications would be approximately $50. We hope that we can find him a perfect spot to land to be spoiled and loved in his golden years!

Welcome to Carmen to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 1.5- to 2-year-old Poodle. She is very sweet and has the delicate frame of a poodle. She is affectionate and likes attention and being held. She is not a shedding dog. She came in and it was hard to determine her breed. We have some experienced groomer volunteers that groomed her and now we know. She is an adorable poodle. Her baby is Jelly Bean. She weighs about 13 pounds. She has nice longer legs and would be a nice walking companion. She is active but not over the top. A moderately active family with a condo sized yard would be sufficient. She is smart and will make some lucky family a great companion. She would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older due to her trusting nature and delicate frame. She is not a shedder and will make a good pet for a family who is allergic or who don’t like to clean up dog hair. She is good with other dogs and good in a crate. She may not have many commands under her belt at the moment but she is eager to please and smart. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Meet Layla – Your Toy-Loving Snuggle Expert! 🐾❤️ Layla is a sweet, lovable girl who's mastered the perfect balance of playtime and naptime. She loves carrying around her toys, entertaining herself, and then happily curling up for one of her many well-earned naps. At bedtime, she's convinced the best place to sleep is snuggled up in bed with her people—and she'll snooze peacefully through the entire night. Like many dogs, Layla gets very excited when she spots wildlife or other animals on walks. Squirrels, turkeys, cats, and dogs are simply way too interesting, so she'll bark and pull on the leash in her enthusiasm. She'll do best with someone who can confidently redirect her attention and continue working on her leash skills. Layla also has a funny little habit of scratching at the couch or comforters when she's feeling playful or energetic. Luckily, she's easily redirected to one of her favorite toys, and she's more than happy to channel that energy into playtime instead. If you're looking for a sweet companion who loves toys, enjoys cozy cuddle sessions, and is always ready for a good night's sleep by your side, Layla may be your perfect match! This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.

Meet Krill, an adorable fluffball from the Sea Creature litter who is looking for an extra special forever family to give him all their love! Krill is deaf and has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a non-progressive neurological birth defect that can affect your balance. What does that mean for this sweet little guy? It simply means he navigates the world with a silly little wobble in his step and an endearing tilt to his head. He improves every day and most of the time, you cannot tell he has a problem from his balance perspective. He is learning short sets of stairs (2-4 steps) both up and down. He will need to have a patient teacher(s) with his learning like any other puppy who are ready to embrace his unique charm. Despite his wobbly stride, Krill is just like any other happy, thriving puppy. He can walk, eat, potty, play, and do almost everything a regular pup does. He loves to run, barks with delight when he gets excited, and is always eager to show off his playful personality. When playtime is over, Krill turns into a world-class snuggler who wants nothing more than to curl up close and snooze. To keep this wobbly boy safe, Krill needs a home with limited stairs and no access to large open water. He would absolutely love to join a home with a friendly, confident furry sibling to help show him the ropes and lead the way, however he is very independent and does not require a friend of the canine variety. He also loves kitties. Krill adores careful and knowledgeable children and would be thrilled to have some in the household to cuddle with when he’s sleepy. Krill has a very obvious tell when he wants to go potty. He will circle and/or cry and knows which door you want him to leave for the outside potty spot (once you have introduced him to this). As such, with a schedule, he is very reliable going outside for both parts of his business. Potty training is going well. He crates well at home and he is learning that crating in the car allows him to go to fun places. Krill doesn’t know he’s any different, and truly except for stairs and his hearing, you would not know he is different. Eugene is a charming 16-year-old Shih Tzu gentleman who has perfected the art of enjoying the good life. At this stage, he's not looking for wild adventures or long hikes—he's looking for a cozy home, a soft place to nap, a little sniff around the yard, and most importantly, someone to adore. Eugene is wonderfully affectionate and loves meeting people. He'll happily make his rounds, offering each person a polite sniff and accepting their pets, but his heart really belongs to his person. Once he's chosen you, expect a devoted little shadow who follows you from room to room and settles happily at your feet while you work, relax, or watch a movie. At 16, Eugene is understandably a low-key guy. A yard where he can wander and sniff is plenty of exercise, and while his days of long walks are behind him, his playful side is starting to peek out again. Every now and then he'll surprise you with a little senior zoomie—especially when dinner is approaching or his favorite person has just come home. Those moments of puppy spirit are pretty darn precious. Eugene has some joint pain and doesn't do stairs. If he encounters a staircase, he'll simply station himself at the bottom and bark to let you know that he'd appreciate a little assistance, please. He prefers gentle companions who understand that an old gentleman isn't interested in wrestling or being chased. Calm dogs or cats who can politely say hello and then go about their business would be much more his speed. He's also mostly deaf, so loud noises and sudden movements can occasionally startle him. When things get a little too hectic, he'll retreat to a quiet, safe spot until the excitement passes. Overall, though, Eugene is very much over the drama and has settled comfortably into his peaceful old-man lifestyle. Eugene is working on his house manners, but his aging bladder sometimes has other plans. He needs frequent opportunities to go outside and wears a belly band indoors as a backup. His foster reports that he has not had any poop accidents in the house. Eugene is a jolly little Shih Tzu who has earned every bit of comfort and kindness that comes with being a senior dog. Just two weeks ago, Dale was frightened of nearly everything. Today, he’s discovering that the world isn’t such a scary place after all—and his playful, goofy personality is beginning to shine. He’s a loyal little companion with a heart of gold. Dale is a loving, affectionate boy who adores spending time with his people. The moment you sit down, he’ll happily curl up beside you on the couch for snuggles. He’s also starting to discover the joy of toys and has become very interested in playing with his foster family’s senior dog—even if she isn’t quite as enthusiastic as he is! Because he enjoys the company of other dogs so much, he would likely love a canine companion in his forever home, though it’s not a requirement. One of Dale’s favorite activities is exploring the outdoors. He loves leisurely walks where he can sniff every interesting scent, roll happily in the grass, and occasionally break into an adorable little trot. While sudden loud noises can still startle him, he’s becoming more confident every day and continues to make wonderful progress meeting new people and other dogs. At home, Dale is doing an excellent job with his crate training. He struggled with separation anxiety at first and spent his early nights howling when crated, but those days are largely behind him. Now he willingly goes into his crate at bedtime and during the day, settles quickly if left alone, and sleeps quietly through the night. He may let out a few morning whines once he hears his family awake, but that’s just his sweet way of saying he’s ready to start the day with you. Dale has also made nice progress riding in the car. While it’s not his favorite activity yet, he’s becoming more comfortable with each trip and will likely continue gaining confidence with positive experiences. Because he’s still building his confidence, Dale would do best in a calmer home. He does well with older children but can become overwhelmed when things get loud or chaotic, such as when kids have groups of friends over. A family that understands he’s still learning that the world is a safe place will be rewarded with an incredibly loving, gentle companion who is eager to trust, love, and be loved. Dale does have a luxating pattella on one side, however, it does not cause him any pain so no management is required at this time.  Dale’s journey has only just begun, and his future is incredibly bright. With patience, encouragement, and plenty of cuddles, this sweet, goofy little guy is sure to become the devoted best friend you’ve been looking for.
