Currently seeking a foster or forever home Poodlix | Neutered Male | ~1 year old | 8 lbsTurnip is a sweet, affectionate pup who’s all about his favorite human — if you’re looking for a loyal shadow, Turnip is your guy! He bonds closely with one person and becomes anxious when separated, so he’d do best with someone who's home most of the day or can include him in daily activities. Ideal Home:A calm household where he can be the center of attentionPreferably an only dog or with a very low-energy dog. Someone home more often than not (remote worker, retiree, etc. ) Patient, understanding adopter willing to continue potty training and build his confidence Social & Playful:Gets along well with other dogs and cats. Can be a little possessive over toys or treats with other dogs, but has never bitten. Enjoys dog parks and meeting new people Loves cuddling, following his person around, and even watching TV!  Health: Had FHO surgery on his rear left leg; occasional limping or hopping is normal and expected — he's not in pain Requires regular grooming to prevent matting  Other Notes: Sleeps well overnight in his crate Crating for long hours during the day is not ideal — he needs companionship  Learning “sit” and has pretty good recall Eats better when someone keeps him company Can be barky at times (including barking at the TV!) Turnip is a loving, quirky little companion who would thrive in a calm, caring home where he gets the attention and reassurance he craves. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly sidekick who will adore you endlessly — Turnip may be your perfect match.  Interested in fostering or adopting Turnip? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Rigel is a gentle, reserved Miniature Poodle who needs time, patience, and the right people to help him shine. He may start out skittish, but once he chooses his person, he becomes a loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to be close. Rigel tends to feel more comfortable around women and can be unsure of men at first, sometimes barking or growling when he’s nervous. With consistency and calm reassurance, he settles and has even been known to curl up next to his foster dad once he feels safe. Now that he’s gaining confidence, Rigel is beginning to show his playful side. He loves small stuffed toys, nightly chew sessions with bully sticks or pig ears, and cuddling on the couch or in bed. He enjoys being out and about as long as his trusted person is right beside him, and he rides quietly in the car. Rigel does best with another dog in the home—preferably one similar in size—who can help him continue learning how to be a confident house dog. He has lived with cats and done well, and he gets along with most dogs, though he avoids pushy or cantankerous personalities. A fenced yard is important for him, as he loves the freedom to explore safely. Potty training is coming along nicely with a schedule, and he knows cues like “outside” and “go potty.” Crates are not his favorite and he takes time to settle, but he does well when riding in one in the car. Rigel is a sweet, intelligent little dog who blossoms with patience. Once he bonds, he is affectionate, cuddly, and devoted. He will thrive in a calm home with considerate older kids or adults, a gentle canine companion, and someone willing to give him the time he needs to trust. With the right family, Rigel will become the loving, loyal companion he’s meant to be. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!         Ginsberg is an 18&#226&#128&#145pound poodle poet with a heart full of joy, a brain full of ideas, and a body full of nonstop wiggles. At just a year old, he has already mastered the art of enthusiasm. Toys? All of them. Squeakers? Absolutely. Playtime? Always. He approaches life like every moment is a festival thrown in his honor. He’s smart too—so smart that he rings bells to go outside, sits on command, and is well on his way to becoming a manners scholar. He’s doing great with potty training, walks nicely on leash (with a little excited pulling), and settles comfortably in his kennel when you’re gone. But when you’re home? He would very much prefer to be glued to your side, thank you. Ginsberg loves people, loves kids, loves dogs, and would be thrilled to have a doggy sibling to wrestle, chase, and share toys with. He’d also do fine as an only dog in an active, dog&#226&#128&#145savvy home—just as long as he gets plenty of exercise, playtime, and attention. He’s affectionate, goofy, gentle, and always ready for adventure. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, endlessly playful pup with big potential and even bigger wiggles, Ginsberg is ready to bounce straight into your life and your lap. **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! This fee must be paid within 24 hours, or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is to place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.
