Bentley is being fostered in Illinois. Bentley has some vision.Bentley, a reserved, easy-going gentleman is looking for a calm, relaxed housemate/best friend. He was recently interviewed about his special search. What would your perfect “digs” include?-I am very shy, so it would have an area to sleep and dine privately with some storage for my soft, plushy toy stash. In addition I would need a second cozy dog bed for relaxing and just “being” closer to my human(s) in the common area.-Ideally it must also include green space. I love to be outdoors! The words “outside” or “walk” just start my tail a-wagging uncontrollably. (See video) A leisurely jaunt at a medium waddle with an occasional relaxed trot or a super fun “Sniffari” is enjoyed several times a day!Would you share the qualities you need in a housemate/best friend?- My person will need to be patient, intuitive and willing to take the time for trust building. (As an introvert, I can be a puzzle and full of contradictions). Here are a few examples....I require a large perimeter of personal space, but offer the same to my person. I am low-maintenance, well-mannered and not an in-your-face attention-seeker, yet I also feel safe and the most comfortable knowing my human is nearby. This makes me an ideal housemate for a retiree or a remote worker.A cuddle bug I am not, yet I have been known to fall asleep in a lap occasionally and I find head scratches or butt and back rubs absolutely irresistible.Meeting humans is difficult for me, yet I approach well-mannered dogs happily. What do you consider your finest quality?-I am agreeable. Dress me up in a silly sweater, wipe my dirty toes when I come in the house, give me a bath, take a car ride.....as long as I am with you, I’m all in.And your weakest?-I am working on conquering my insecurities. I get anxious when I am home alone for a long stretch, so I sometimes have potty accidents.Bentley, what else would you like to tell folks?-I sleep through the night and during the day it is my mission to provide quiet company, put a smile on your face and love in your heart.BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Marty is being fostered in PA. 6/18/26 Update 6/9/2026 Marty is doing well in his foster home. He is most likely, closer to 16 years old. He is now on 4 medications to treat his congestive heart failure. He eats very well and has no trouble locating his foster mom for breakfast and dinner. He continues to have noticeable arthritis in his lower back but seems to handle it well. He is a sweet and very quiet boy who loves the simple things in life such as a soft bed, timely meals, lots of time to nap and kisses on his head. He prefers to lie in his bed and is not comfortable being a lap dog. Marty’s adoptive home would need to willing to allow him to sleep in a doggy bed and not insist he sleep on a lap or furniture. They would also have to be located within a few hours of his foster home, as a transport would not be healthy for him. 1-17-2026 Update for Marty Marty is doing really well in his foster home and is still a spunky little man with a bit of arthritis in his backend but it doesn't slow him down. Marty's hearing continues to be pretty good for his age and he is right in the mix of his foster siblings when Mom comes home after being out for any time. Marty's hair has grown in nicely on his back. He was almost bald when he came to his foster home. Marty's foster mom had never seen a change in a foster's personality quite as drastic as she did following Marty's dental, when all of his teeth had to be removed. Some teeth were so badly decayed that they had begun to calcify and attach to his jaw bones. After a few days of recovery, he began to eat and to be interested in the world. Marty eats soaked kibble with some soft food mixed in and eats every bite of each meal. He is now on 4 medications for his congestive heart failure and is doing very well with just an occasional cough. Fun facts about Marty: -He LOVES burrowing into beds that have a flap for him to crawl under -He is not safe when on furniture because he will quickly decide he wants off and give no warning and has no fear. -Marty never barks -Marty is smaller than the two cats in his foster home and really doesn't care. :) Little Marty is a sweet, easy-going little mini poodle guy who gets along with dogs and cats and people of all ages. His breed is guessed at as a full blooded mini poodle. His estimated age is about 13 but he's a very quick-stepping little man and enjoys exploring his environment, especially outside. He can find his way to the door and he was doing a great job at pottying outside until his foster mom went back to work a couple weeks ago. He will be very easy to get back in the habit of eliminating outside with a forever family who is home more. He's fairly easy to figure out in that, if he's up and exploring, he needs to go out. :) Marty has a very thin coat of fur on his torso but he does not have any visible skin issues and does not itch. His thyroid levels were checked and were fine. We know little about his past life so he may be recuperating from a past issue. Marty is leash trained and does well but because he's a small and older guy, walks won't be very fast. He also rides well in the car. At this time, he seems to enjoy dog bed hopping over being on a lap and he will walk right off the edge of a chair or bed. He needs to be carried up and down stairs and has no awareness of being at the top of stairs. He will remind his foster mom if his breakfast or dinner is overly late. Marty has had a slight cough since arriving in his foster home and following an xray on September 16th, it was discovered that his heart is slightly enlarged and he has a small amount of fluid in the upper portion of his one lung. These are both signs of congestive heart failure, which is fairly common in little old men like Marty. He will probably need to take Benazepril, Lasix and Pimobendan for the rest of his life. These medications run about 50.00 per month. Marty will have a dental on September 26th. He will probably need to have most, if not all, of his teeth extracted but it will be so much better for him to have a healthy mouth again! Marty will make a sweet little companion for some family. He's very excited to be spoiled and doted on for the rest of his days. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
This is sweet Ollie, whom I adopted from DFW Rescue Me. He is just the nicest dog. I got Ollie seven years ago when I was going through a hard time, and he was just the sweetest snuggliest thing to me. When I rescued him he was very scared as he had come from a horrid hoarding situation, and the rescue said he may have been kicked in the eye (left). I just took him to the vet on 6/10, and he is completely blind in that eye but that has never stopped him from anything. We never got an exact birthday for Ollie, but we think he was born on 1/29/2014. He is a weeniepoodle (dachshund poodle) and will require grooming every 3-4 months, if not he gets very shaggy. He is spayed and microchipped. He would never hurt a fly. Ollie constantly tries to get out of our current home. Since we moved, he has eloped over 20 times either through the front door despite our efforts or in the back by the meter through sharp chicken wire. He will injure himself just to escape. We are terrified he will get hurt or killed one day and its an almost daily occurrence working about him escaping. My child worries he will be hurt. He's a sweet boy but we aren't sure he's happy with us anymore. He is great with kids but really needs someone who will be home often to give him attention. When I had my first child, Ollie frequently urinated in the house. We put him through extensive training at Furry Tails, and now he heels on the leash during walks and will sit, stay, etc. We have a doggie door but since the birth of my second child, he has started to panic when the baby is crying and will revert back to old behaviors when stressed. He is an eccentric dog and is scared easily. He will cower and shake uncontrollably when something sizzles on the stove, something beeps or a storm is brewing. When there's a storm he will injure himself trying to escape a kennel. He really needs someone who can give him a lot of attention during these triggers and lots of walks if possible. He didn't get better with peeing and pooping in the house despite having a doggy door. He likes squeaky toys too. He is good with other dogs and honestly great with kids but maybe not with infants due to stress from crying. I love Ollie but I cannot give him the attention he deserves now with having two kids and I want him to be happy for the rest of his little life.
