Meet Kimberly! The sweet and snuggly poodle looking for her forever home. Kimberly is a nine-year old poodle with the softest curls and the sweetest eyes you’ll ever see. She was part of a breeder surrender and now she’s ready to enjoy the good life as someone’s cherished companion. This little lady is friendly and gentle, though she can be shy when meeting new people. She thrives with slow introductions and a calm environment. Kimberly is not suite for homes with children as she is very timid around them, but she’s a true gem with adults one she feels safe.Her favorite pastime is playing with her beloved scrunchy “shaker” toy and then curling up in bed for snuggles. She’s not a fan of crates, likely due to her past, but she’s very happy to hang out freely with her humans. She is not destructive when alone. Kimberly does well with dogs of all sizes as long as they are calm, and would love a canine friend to help her feel secure.She’s nearly housetrained, using potty-pads reliably. She’s up to date on vaccinations and recently had a dental and is spayed. If you have a gentle heart, a quiet home, and the patience to let Kimberly blossom at her own pace, she’ll reward you with unconditional love, sweet companionship, and plenty of tail wags. This resilient boy has a gentle spirit and Meet Uno, an 11-year-old ray of sunshine and beloved resident of the sanctuary. Rescued after spending over a year wandering alone along railroad tracks, Uno arrived with a severely matted coat and eyes scarred from prolonged exposure to the elements. He takes medications and Vitamin Supplements to help his eyes. Despite his rough past, Uno's spirit shines bright. He’s an incredibly happy boy who radiates love and joy to everyone he meets. His gentle heart, wagging tail, and ever-present smile remind us daily of the resilience of animals and the healing power of compassion. Uno truly lives up to his name—he’s one of a kind. Story

Marty is being fostered in PA. Little Marty is a sweet, easy-going little mini poodle guy who gets along with dogs and cats and people of all ages. His breed is guessed at as a full blooded mini poodle. His estimated age is about 13 but he's a very quick-stepping little man and enjoys exploring his environment, especially outside. He can find his way to the door and he was doing a great job at pottying outside until his foster mom went back to work a couple weeks ago. He will be very easy to get back in the habit of eliminating outside with a forever family who is home more. He's fairly easy to figure out in that, if he's up and exploring, he needs to go out. :) Marty has a very thin coat of fur on his torso but he does not have any visible skin issues and does not itch. His thyroid levels were checked and were fine. We know little about his past life so he may be recuperating from a past issue. Marty is leash trained and does well but because he's a small and older guy, walks won't be very fast. He also rides well in the car. At this time, he seems to enjoy dog bed hopping over being on a lap and he will walk right off the edge of a chair or bed. He needs to be carried up and down stairs and has no awareness of being at the top of stairs. He will remind his foster mom if his breakfast or dinner is overly late. Marty has had a slight cough since arriving in his foster home and following an xray on September 16th, it was discovered that his heart is slightly enlarged and he has a small amount of fluid in the upper portion of his one lung. These are both signs of congestive heart failure, which is fairly common in little old men like Marty. He will probably need to take Benazepril, Lasix and Pimobendan for the rest of his life. These medications run about 50.00 per month. Marty will have a dental on September 26th. He will probably need to have most, if not all, of his teeth extracted but it will be so much better for him to have a healthy mouth again! Marty will make a sweet little companion for some family. He's very excited to be spoiled and doted on for the rest of his days. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Meet Kodi — proof that age is just a number. At 12 years old and just 6.5 pounds, Kodi is the kind of loyal, low-maintenance companion dreams are made of. He’s house-trained (even in the rain!), sleeps quietly through the night in his crate, and quickly mastered the doggie door like the smart little guy he is. Kodi loves nothing more than being near you—happily curled up at your side or trotting along on a walk, just glad to be included. He is gentle, calm, and full of life, with so much love left to give. He eats only canned food due to his lack of teeth and his age. Kodi didn’t deserve to be surrendered to a shelter by his owner but now he’s ready to be someone’s whole world. Maybe yours? Meet Perla — a petite senior sweetheart whose gentle presence and joyful little moments make every day brighter. Perla is low-energy overall and perfectly content being your quiet companion. She enjoys short bursts of play, but her favorite place is curled up right beside her people. Whether you’re working, reading, or moving around the house, Perla will happily keep you company — often following along quietly just to stay close. She has some truly endearing quirks that make her extra special. Perla adores her stuffed bunny, which she carries around the house and snuggles with. And in the mornings, she celebrates the day in the cutest way — by pouncing into the nearest pile of leaves, rolling around, and letting out a little howl as if she’s greeting the world. It’s impossible not to smile watching her start her day. Perla is fully potty trained and even adds a bit of entertainment to her routine with a quick 30-second zoomie session and a tiny “song” before heading out. She does great in her crate and will politely let you know when she needs to go outside in the morning. While she can feel a bit nervous if a large dog approaches her kennel, she does well with other dogs in general and this is something her foster is actively helping her work through. She rides well in the car — a little whining at first, then settling in and usually falling asleep. In public settings like the vet’s office and when visitors come over, Perla has been friendly, social, and eager to make new friends. Perla does well with other dogs and seems especially comfortable with smaller pups. She has happily coexisted with both a large female dog and a tiny male dog, showing playful interest and enjoying snuggles with the smaller dog. She has also done well with cats in a previous foster home, remaining aware but not overly engaged. Currently healing from recent medical procedures, Perla is ready to find a loving home where she can spend her golden years surrounded by comfort, patience, and affection. If you’re looking for a gentle, low-key companion with a sweet soul and just the right touch of playful charm, Perla may be the perfect addition to your family.
