Story
Apricot is a loving, cuddly girl with a playful, curious side that makes her so fun to be around. She’s incredibly food-motivated, which makes her eager to learn and very responsive—she quickly picks up on routines and expectations. She loves to snuggle (especially during thunderstorms!) and has grown more affectionate and confident every day. Apricot enjoys being close to her people but is also perfectly content relaxing on the couch or dog bed with Peaches. Despite her curiosity, she has a calm, easygoing temperament and has adjusted beautifully to home life. She does not bark at people and remains relaxed around everyday activity like cars and bikes passing by. Apricot is doing great with her routine and continues to thrive in a home environment. Apricot would do wonderfully in a home that appreciates both her affectionate nature and her eagerness to learn—she’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply and brings a lot of love into the home.

Born: August 22, 2025 I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $450 Meet Grizzly, a cheerful, bouncy pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Even at his young age, this smart boy already knows “sit,” “down,” and “touch”—he’s eager to learn and loves showing off his skills.  Grizzly is still working on his potty training but is making great progress and will use a pee pad. He absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playful canine companion or regular doggy friends.  Full of energy, love, and puppy charm, Grizzly is ready to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of tail wags to his forever family! All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.**   Meet Elmo, a brindle pup, mountain cur mix (DOB 09/05/25)with a big appetite, an even bigger heart, and a curious, playful spirit. He loves to run full sprint outdoors, and is always up for stretching his legs before settling in for a snuggle. Elmo is obedient, highly trainable, and already pee-pad trained with a consistent outdoor potty routine, making him refreshingly predictable for a puppy his age. He enjoys resting in his own bed and can easily be taught to stay off furniture if that’s your preference. While he’s still a little unsure about cars (toys and bikes included) and anything with wheels, Elmo’s sweet, adaptable nature makes him a joy to guide as he grows. Elmo will need an adopter who is dedicated to proper training and socialization to ensure he grows to be a good canine citizen Elmo’s adoption fee is $400.  This includes age appropriate vaccines, completed wellness visit and neuter at one of our contracted vets at 6 months of age.  *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. Story
🐾 Meet Atlas – Our Longest-Waiting Adventurer 🐾 Atlas is a 4-year-old Catahoula mix who has been in the rescue program for almost 4 years, and we truly don’t understand how this incredible dog is still waiting for his forever home. Atlas is great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends. He is cat-friendly, but he can be a bit much for them since he always wants to play—so he’d do best in a cat-free home or one with a very tolerant, confident cat. This guy is active, athletic, and always ready for an adventure. Walks, outings, and staying busy are his jam, so he’ll need an active family who can keep up with his enthusiasm for life. Atlas does have some separation anxiety, but it is very manageable and continues to improve with routine and structure. And here’s the really cool part—Atlas has competed in THREE OneWorld Canine Biathlons and absolutely crushed it, even placing 2nd in one of his races! 🏅 This dog has both brains and brawn. 📍 Fostered in Huntsville, AL 🐶 Good with dogs 🐱 Cats with conditions 🏃 Adventure-ready & athletic Atlas has waited long enough. He’s loyal, driven, and ready to be someone’s best adventure buddy. If you’re looking for a dog who will truly be your partner in life, Atlas is your guy. 👉 Apply to adopt at www.forrescue.net Rescue: Friends of Rescue 💙
