Story
Aria was given to us by our friends when she was just two months old. We have now had her for 7 years, and she has been a good pet, but we are not able to give her the attention she needs as our lives have gotten so busy. Aria is a low maintenance dog who likes to lay around in the sun and loves fleece blankets. She likes walks as long as it’s warm outside. She is very cuddly and likes to sleep at our feet. She is rather territorial so it would be good for her to be the only pet, or if your pet is a nonchalant she would probably be alright. She currently lives in a home with a doggy door so she has access to go potty any time, that’s something to consider when thinking to adopt Aria. Aria is a very good pet, she will make you laugh at times, she will ask you to pick her up on the couch so she can snuggle with you under a blanket, and occasionally fetch a tennis ball.

Story
We have had pookie for a very long time since she was a couple of months old and she 7 years old as of today. Recently she just need a lot of attention and when that doesn’t meet her needs she lashes out, gets into the trash and pees and or poops when not taken out, nonetheless she is a sweet heart and loves cuddling up beside you, she is a great dog but need constant attention and needs people to spend a lot of time with her. It’s very sad that i have to give her away but I just want the best for her cause i can’t meet her need and she needs some who can.

We rescued her in TX. She is 7 1/2 yo ~65lbs. Good with kids. Good with cats. Generally OK with other dogs. She is a good girl, high energy, anxious, barks. She is good with other dogs but can get anxious/defensive with aggressive/dominant types. Is house trained, has occasional accidents. She is a pit/shepherd mix we think.

Story
Nike is a SWEET boy! His whole body wiggles. He loves climbing into your lap for hugs (80 lbs and very tall, long legs) as he thinks he's a total lap dog. He nuzzles his muzzle into your neck for kisses. He loves to eat, even broccoli. He does food steal for treats, etc and should be kept separate from another dog during treat/food time just in case. He LOVES water & swimming. He loves car rides. He loves walks. He loves playing. And playing. And dog wrestling. And playing. And playing. And playing. Our other dog he's been playing with is experiencing serious health issues and hasn't been able to play for 4 weeks. Nike's bored. He's UTD on shots. We have NO idea what breeds he is. He's leggy and tall. He probably has some bully breed in him and think he's got a good deal of hound in him as I've seen him point with his nose and leg. He gets along very well with cats; he tries to get ours to play. He LOVES our foster kitten and always tries to help. He DESERVES the world.

Story
Zahra is 7 years old. She is a wonderful dog who loves snuggles and licking licking the faces of her favorite humans. We believe she is part terrier. She loves being outside chasing rodents, exploring, and going on adventures. She does well on leash, in the car, and is very smart. She learns commands quickly. She can be territorial at first and bark at new people. As soon as she warms up, she just wants to be on your lap or snuggled next to you while you scratch her ears or pet her belly. We hope to find a quiet home for her with space to run outside. She is able to use a doggie door. We believe she is a bit frightened of the unpredictability of our young child. She then reacts defensively. In a home with no children and ideally no other pets, she will thrive. She simply wants to be the only being who is adored in the home.

Story
Kamala has been my dog for 7 years. I love her so much and I hate that I have to give her up. She is reactive to light and overstimulation but she is also very sweet. If I can't find her a new home she will have to be put to sleep. Please help her. I can help with rehoming costs.

Story
Meet Chamba! He's a 2-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog / Miniature Poodle mix whose family has gone through an unexpected change, and Chamba needs a new home. Chamba was born November 19, 2021 in Montrose, CO. His mom is a 120-lb. Bernese Mountain Dog and his Dad is a 12-lb. Poodle! Chamba ended up being 90 lbs. -- a nice midpoint between Mom and Dad. Chamba LOVES cold weather and snow and would be happiest in a place where it snows a lot of the year. He's not a fan of the sun and heat, and is always seeking shade. He goes for a walk every day and is a strong boy, so his people are looking for adopter(s) who can match his strength while Chamba is on leash. He knows how to ring a bell to let you know when he wants to go outside and come back in. The bells will be provided to his adopter(s) so they have the correct ring. He's been going to a wonderful trainer where he's been learning his doggie cues and doggie boundaries around the other dog and kitty in the household. Ideally, Chamba will need a calm household with a training structure. He'd love to have another big dog to play with but would also be happy on his own. A small dog, kitty or young child in the home wouldn't work for this big boy, so we're saying No Cats, Small Dogs or Kids in the House, please and thanks. (A teenager might be OK.) Chamba is neutered, housetrained, crate-trained (where he sleeps overnight and when his people aren't home), doesn't shed, and he's up to date on his doggie shots. If needed, Chamba's crate can accompany him when he goes to his new home. He's currently living with his people in Carbondale, CO, but can be transported to the Boulder area if needed. For more info and/or to apply to adopt Chamba, send us an email at summitdogrescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.
