Location: Cottage Grove, MN Meet Bowie 💙 Bowie is a total sweetheart with the perfect balance of playful and laid-back. When he’s not happily wrestling with his foster sister, you’ll usually find him curled up enjoying a nice, cozy snooze. He’s great at entertaining himself and doesn’t mind doing his own thing—especially on short walks or outdoor time, where he may plop himself down the moment he finds the perfect stick. Bowie is currently working on potty training and is making solid progress transitioning from potty pads to going outside, with just the occasional accident. He’s also doing well with kennel/play pen training: he may cry briefly at first, but he settles in quickly and sleeps just fine. He gets along well with other dogs and has been good around kids. While his experience with cats is unknown, his gentle nature suggests he could do well with the right introduction. This handsome boy was picked up running at large and based on Facebook posts it was about his third or fourth offense, but no one claimed him. We are guessing that he was a failure at being a livestock guardian because he’s way too social. He’s always wanting to visit someone new. Charlie is a little over a year old and weighs 121 lbs. He was very thin when he first came to us but is now at his perfect weight. He is neutered, up to date on required vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. He’s house trained and he loves other dogs, but he is a big guy. He also will require a tall fence, and you will have to keep an eye on him because again he likes to visit new people. He also has an obsession with deer! For that reason, a privacy fence would be ideal if you have deer around your home. He’s affectionate and likes to lean on you. He is learning commands like sit and stay and he really tries to please! This is what his foster mom says about him " Charlie is amazing. He is housebroken, loves to be hugged, hasn’t chewed anything up, likes to play but is content just to chill. He walks beautifully on a leash and likes to say hi to everyone he meets. Charlie enjoys sitting and looking out the window, hanging around in the kitchen especially when I’m cooking and going for car rides". Although this breed is known for having a stubborn streak, Charlie seems to understand a few commands wait, it’s ok, no, come, let’s go and he will even sit for a treat. She came to Underdog as a breeder surrender and is still learning how big and wonderful the world can be. While she has some nervous energy and takes time to trust new people, and men especially, once she feels safe, she blossoms into a loyal, affectionate companion. When Jojo came, she did have allergies and chewed her feet a lot.  We have kept her allergies at bay by feeding her Carna4 brand dog food.  That, a raw food diet, or a cooked whole food diet should be committed to be continued to keep her in optimum health. This sweet girl is potty trained, is good on a leash and loves her daily walks, comes when called, and is eager to learn with plenty of positive encouragement. JoJo would thrive in a calm, patient home with an assertive dog to show her the ropes and help build her confidence. She loves to play and has never met a dog that she instantly considers a new friend.  She would be happiest in a home with a dog 40+ pounds with whom she can race and play.  She is not the kind of pup who will rush into your arms right away, but with love, consistency, and kindness, she will reward you with a bond that runs deep.she binds closest with women, and while she does not need a fenced in yard, she must be leashed at all times. Introducing Kit: part Great Pyrenees, part Doberman, and 100% professional weirdo. She’s about two years old, has legs for days, and a nose that works overtime like a tiny detective on an endless case. Kit has gone from “stranger danger” mode to “sniff your hair while you’re watching Netflix” mode, and that’s what we call progress.   Her daily routine is very official: three laps around her kennel like an Olympic track star before dinner, followed by stealing the couch or your bed because, honestly, she’s royalty and crates are for peasants. She’s learning that humans = belly rub dispensers, and she’s totally here for it.   Kit is a huge fan of dogs, though she sometimes comes in a little too hot on first introductions (think: bossy camp counselor vibes). Once she knows who’s in charge, she’s good to go, and she’s the best babysitter for puppies. What she is not into? Cats, chickens, birds, squirrels, or basically anything small and fluffy that isn’t her designated sibling. For those, her prey drive kicks in and—let’s just say—it’s a hard no.   She’s obsessed with running, but luckily, she’s not a fence-jumper. A nice sturdy yard is her dream stage for zoomies. When she’s not sprinting, she’s all about long walks, soft toys, and claiming furniture like it’s her birthright. She’ll even listen to “leave it” when she’s yelling at the neighbors, which is basically the dog version of good manners.   Kit is still a little shy at first, but once she warms up, you’ll find a goofy, loyal, slightly dramatic best friend who makes the small victories (like coming when called) feel like winning the lottery.
