Story
Hi, I am Amelia. I have been in MN now for a few weeks and I am loving it here. I currently live with my 4 fury siblings (3 dogs and 1 cat) and my foster humans that include a 10 year old and 14 year old. I love them all! When my 4 legged friends get tired of playing my 2 legged family steps in, but honestly as much as I love to play I also love to nap and cuddle. If given the chance I will sleep with you, on you or in my kennel!Since coming to MN I have had so much to learn about and to explore. I have been learning the sounds of all different kinds of bugs talking, children playing soccer at the near by park, the neighbor dogs and day to day activity around my foster home. My foster mom says I am doing great! I sleep in my kennel when she is away at work otherwise I get free roam of the house, including at night. My foster mom says I have been a very good girl when it comes to learning that there will always be endless food, treats and toys here so it’s ok to share with others! Best of all I am fully house trained, love being outside and unlike my fury and human friends, I love playing in the rain!My foster mom says I have done really well learning how to sit, “kennel” and that I am currently working really hard on learning what “down” means. You see sometimes I get a little too excited and stand up on my back feet. I have never jumped on anybody but my foster mom says that sometimes standing on my feet for attention can scare people so I have to continue learning to sit nicely and be patient. Being patient is so hard! I know belly rubs are coming and honestly, they are the BEST thing in the world and I can’t get enough of them! Foster mom says I am a pretty smart pup so she has no doubt I will catch on quickly. It’s also important for any potential new family members to know that I am a very sweet but I am also cautious/shy in my new world. It takes me a little time to adjust to changes. If you are patient with me, give me words of encouragement (did I mention a belly rub or two?) and talk to me softly it really helps me build my confidence. Please don’t forget the treats when I do good. I really like those- particularly when they are paired with belly rubs (can you tell I like belly rubs?)! Because I am still cautious as I learn my new world I am still working on walking on a leash. I will often walk a bit and then sit and take in the surroundings before walking again. However, foster mom says even this is improving significantly with our daily walks! I don't pull at all when walking, not even when I see a squirrel! I have yet to meet a pet or human that I don't like! The teenager in my foster home gets down on the floor to play with me and gives me hugs and kisses. She says it’s important that I am safe for all kids and adults so she makes sure to touch me all over including my face, mouth, ears and anywhere else that might be sensitive. Sometimes I think shes a little weird when she is doing this but I don't mind, I just sit patiently. After all, all the love and attention is amazing!Foster mom has recently started to let me sleep with her. Beds are so soft! And I love to cuddle! However, if you would prefer me not to be on a bed or furniture I also know how to stay off and will gladly sleep on the floor or an open kennel if available.Do you have room in your home for me?
