Story
Hendrix is an 8-year-old Papillon mix with two beautiful, mismatched eyes. His world was turned upside down when his family moved to Canada and, sadly, left him behind in their backyard. We don’t know how long he was out there, but it looked like he got tangled in his harness, leaving his shoulder sensitive. Thankfully, Shelter Hope heard his story and took him in. We’re not sure why his family couldn’t bring him along, but when he arrived, it was clear his teeth were in rough shape and he needed urgent dental care. Shelter Hope got him the treatment and now he is feeling much more comfortable. Hendrix is a quiet, curious, and independent little dog who enjoys his cozy bed, watching the world go by, and exploring his surroundings. He’s not quite ready for physical affection from new people and prefers to be left alone as he settles in, but he does appreciate having peaceful company nearby. With time, patience, and kindness, Hendrix is slowly learning to trust again. Once he feels comfortable, he’ll come up for soft pets and will even show off his obedient side. He knows the “sit” command, seems potty trained, and loves soaking up the sun. He loves to go on walks and explore. He’s gentle, good with other dogs, and continues to make progress every day. Hendrix would do best with a calm, understanding family who will let him come out of his shell at his own pace. If you’re looking for a peaceful, loyal companion who will quietly fill your home with love once he learns to trust, Hendrix is your perfect match! More from his foster: Hendrix takes a little time to adjust, after one week he has fit in with our two small pups. He loves attention and follows us around the house always ready for pats and attention. He walks well on a leash and is not aggressive to other dogs we meet. He has had no "accidents" and sleeps through the night on his bed in our bedroom along with our two ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Be ready to adopt: If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. More on our process: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Story
Breed: Papillon mix Age: 2 yrs. Weight: 9.8 lbs. Good with dogs: yes Good with cats: unsure Good with kids: unsure Energy level: unsure Good with men/strangers: yes Hypoallergenic: no Special home requirements or medical: none Additional info: Lou Lou has been a shining gem as she’s come out of her shell. Slow to start, as soon as she feels comfortable with you, she shows her love with kisses, cuddles, and zoomies! Lou Lou loves her outdoors time (and will literally jump up and down at the sight of her leash) because it means exploring, meeting new people and dogs, and sniffling all the good stuff. So far, Lou Lou has done well with dogs of all sizes with an introduction — if she gets nervous, she just retreats behind you, no aggression towards others. She’s great with people of all ages but may take a little time to warm up to (tall) men and would likely do best in a home without young kids. She’s still learning “sit” but is food motivated which means she’s a quick learner and she’s just learning about toys. Fetch is still an unknown concept for her. Lou Lou has been working on her separation anxiety, something that gets easier as she trusts her person more and more. She is not destructive at all when left alone. Lou Lou is working on her bathroom training; pee pads are left out when her foster is gone more than three hours. Sometimes they’re used while other times she waits until we go out! Lou Lou is eager to please and will snuggle her way into your heart! Story
Ripley is a 1.5-2 year old long hair Chihuahua/papillon mix. She is only 8 lbs! Ripley is a very sweet girl, but she takes some patience and time to warm up to and trust new people. She was found as a pregnant stray, and has been a great and protective mama. Now its time for Ripley to find her happily ever after and see her blossom on her own. Ripley is nervous of quick movements, so needs someone who can move slowly with her at first. For this reason, she needs a home without children. She does well with cats. We don't know yet how she does with other dogs, but the few shes met shes been ok with. She is house trained, and also knows how to use pee pads.
