Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     Meet Winnie from Egypt. When we first found Winnie, a 1.5-year-old male dog, the sight was heartbreaking. He was dragging his back legs along the harsh streets, desperately trying to fend for himself. Examination at the clinic revealed that Winnie had suffered a severe blow to his back, leaving him unable to walk properly. Despite the physical trauma, his spirit remained unbroken. Winnie's gentle and loving nature quickly became apparent as we got to know him. He greeted everyone with a wagging tail and an eagerness to play, showing an incredible resilience that belied his physical condition. His high energy and playful demeanor brought joy to those around him. Winnie quickly made friends with people and other dogs, though he sometimes barked at cats with a curious, playful spark. His full control over his toilet habits demonstrated his determination to maintain his dignity despite his challenges. Winnie deserves a loving home where he can continue to thrive and share his boundless affection. Zanisfurryfriends.org       All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Dillon (AL) is a neutered male Pekingese/Lhasa Apso mix rescued in Alabama. Our veterinary partner estimates that Dillon is 4 years old at the time of intake in September 2023. Dillon is good with people, other dogs and and is good with cats. Dillon lived his entire life in a loving home, but his elderly person became unable to care for Dillon and was required to surrender Dillon so Dillon could find a new life with someone who could properly care for him.  Dillon is an energetic young boy who likes nothing more than to romp around the yard with his foster brothers--don't let his little legs fool you, he is fast! Dillon ignores the cat, gets on well with his foster siblings and is a social butterfly once he warms up to you. He’s a happy pup who loves to be close to his people. Dillon is not a pick me up kind of guy but that may change once he becomes familiar with you. He prefers the hippy look and is not a fan of being groomed. Dillon is playful, funny, and super sweet. He is housetrained and leash trained. Dillon has learned to respect the social pecking order amongst his canine foster siblings. He is a joyful, happy boy who is very trainable as he is food motivated. He has been known to put himself to bed in his room when he's tired! If you would like to bring this boy home, please apply online to adopt Dillon (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.  RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 19, 2024, 7:36 am

Story
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK NORTH NEW JERSEY Harvey is the sweetest little black with white Pekingese boy. He is 13 pounds and probably around 8 years old. He is extremely affectionate with his humans and will stare into your eyes so you know he loves you! He is a fun little guy and loves chasing a tossed toy and playing with the other pups in his foster home. Harvey lived with Teddy (also available, see pic above) and they can go home together or individually. Harvey is very well behaved and a super chill little guy. He LOVES sitting outside in any weather. Even in the rain! He would love a nice grassy area to hang out in and a fenced yard would be even better so he can meander around as he likes. He can be an only dog since his humans are his priority but he can live with other small breed pups (and other Pekes of course). He LOVES running around the yard with his foster siblings. Extensive vetting has been done and he is in excellent health. We typically get in touch within 24-48 hours, but it may take up to 10 days. Please watch your email and answer your phone (from 201 area code) after you submit an application. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to reply to all applicants. We also do not have the manpower to accept phone calls. Everything we know about the dog is posted above. Our adoption process is on our website. You can see more about our daily operations on our Facebook page. PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with us, we will move on to the next application and you will not be considered. We consider out-of-area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey, and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is “first qualified, first come” and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue, and we reserve the right to deny adoption at any point during the process.

Story
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK NORTH NEW JERSEY Teddy is the sweetest little cream and tan Pekingese boy. He is 13 pounds and probably around 8 years old. He is extremely affectionate with his humans and loves to give you kisses! He is a super chill guy that loves to lounge around and sun himself by the window. Teddy lived with Harvey (also available, see pic above) and they can go home together or individually. Teddy is pretty low key and just does his own thing most of the day. He does get excited and does a little happy dance when he comes back into the house after roaming around the yard. He can be an only dog since his humans are his priority but he can live with other small breed pups (and other Pekes of course). He loves going for walks or would love a fenced in yard to meander around. Tweenagers and up please. Extensive vetting has been done and he is in excellent health. He does have dry eyes and very early glaucoma so he is on eye drops for both. He also arrived at the shelter with horrible ear infections that we have been treating. Due to the lack of care of his eyes and ears, his vision and hearing are not perfect but he gets around just fine and they seem to be improving now that he is getting what he needs medically. Story
My name is Bailey and I am a certified Cutie Pie Bichon boy that is just a tad over 2 years of age and weighing 10-12 pounds.  I am having to change my life around because my owner is a college student and her mom cannot care for me while she is off to college out of state.  My young student mom is so heartbroken but she realizes that she has no time for me while in school and she wants me to have lots of attention and care from someone that will treasure me. Yes, I need to be groomed, but right now grooming appts. are tough to get quickly.  My young mom contacted Critter Cavalry Rescue and was under a deadline for me to be surrendered immediately as she was going back to college the end of July.  I am being neutered right now and fully vetted and being caught up on every kind of shot and microchip and heartworm test and worming.  I am going to be a prize for someone that has lots of time to take me for long walks and maybe they will work from home or will be a SAHM too.  I have a long life ahead of me and I want someone that can care for me the next 15 years.  If you think you can check all my boxes on my wish list that includes, taking me on long walks, grooming every 12 weeks, dentals that I will need later as I get older, bloodwork that I will need as I approach 6 or 7 years and just overall quality time every day, then please apply. I am excited about meeting the person that Critter Cavalry Rescue chooses.  Could it be you?   Write to them at ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 19, 2024, 1:52 pm
