Story
They say the biggest hearts come in the smallest packages, and Julieta is living proof.
Just a few months ago, this 7-pound soul was navigating the harsh streets of Tijuana alone. When she was rescued by Born Again Animal Rescue, she was in a truly "deplorable" state—her tiny body was hidden under a mass of painful, matted fur, she was battling a widespread skin infection, and she required urgent medical care for a failing eye. She wasn’t just a dog in need; she was a spirit waiting to be rediscovered.
The Transformation
We’ve been privileged to witness the incredible power of a foster home. With patience, medicated baths, and proper nutrition, the matted shell has fallen away to reveal the gem underneath. Julieta has transformed from a suffering street survivor into a resilient, soulful companion.
She has learned that hands are for petting, not for hiding from. She has adjusted very well during her time in Manhattan. She enjoys belly rubs, getting brushed, and chowing down at meal time. She is very tolerant of physical touch and getting her harness and clothes put on. She is almost fully potty trained at using the pee pad, but will require some further praise and encouragement. She does great on a leash. She was nervous on walks in the beginning, but has quickly adjusted. Sometimes, she prefers to walk a bit behind you so you can guide her. Julieta is a quirky, loving, and affectionate pup. Her forever family will need to continue working on potty training and routines to reinforce and advance the progress she has been making. Julieta does well in a crate, playpen, or roaming freely in the house during the day. She has a tiny bit of separation anxiety but is never destructive in their house and is able to calm herself quickly. She is interested in squeaky toys, but really just wants to be loved by her people. Julieta would be fine in a calm or active household as she appreciates both downtime and active moments. She would do well as the only dog in the household or with other dogs. She would do well in a home with or without children of any age. She is the sweetest dog and deserves a loving forever home. She will give you so much love in return!
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, microchipped and spayed. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
To apply for Julieta, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
