Story
Handsome - 2 years & 13lbs, Japanese Chin/Terrier, Neutered   This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required:BEGINNER – “Beginner” doesn’t necessarily mean easy as all dogs will require time, work, and patience, but we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale because of their breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.  Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60 walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs. Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2878769##

Story
He is a sweet, friendly, playful, and calm dog who enjoys spending time with people. He loves to play, explore his surroundings, and enjoy quality time with the people around him. He has a lovely personality and can bring happiness and companionship to a loving home. He is a dog who deserves a family that will be patient with him, give him attention, and make sure all his needs are met. I hope to find him a safe and loving home where he will be treated like a member of the family, receive proper care, and have the opportunity to live a happy life. Unfortunately, due to changes in my circumstances, I can no longer give him the time and attention he deserves. This is not an easy decision, but I want to make sure he finds a responsible family that will love him, care for him, and give him the best life possible.

Meet Frappuccino: Delight and Sweetness Served DailyFrappuccino is a sweet little Pekingese/Shih Tzu mix who is 9 years young and ready to bring a little extra sweetness into your life. She may have a few more special needs than your average pup, but Frappuccino certainly doesn't let that stop her from enjoying the important things in life-especially walks, attention, and being loved!Frappuccino has limited vision and appears to be at least partially, if not fully, deaf. Because of her sensory challenges, she will need a patient, understanding family who is comfortable caring for a special needs senior dog and can help her navigate the world safely and confidently. A calm, low-key household where she can settle into a predictable routine would be ideal.Despite her physical limitations, Frappuccino is still eager to get out for her walks and absolutely soaks up the love and attention she receives from our staff and volunteers. She may experience the world a little differently, but she still has plenty of sweetness to share. If you have the experience, patience, and big heart needed to give a special needs canine the wonderful life she deserves, Frappuccino would love to add a little delight to your home.❤️If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website www.savehomelessanimals.org. Story
If you see this listing, it means Clementine is available for adoption. We take our time to find the ideal match for the Animal Saints we save, as well as for the humans who wish to adopt them.   Backstory for Clementine Animal Saints Rescue Society was asked to help with an owner surrender involving several "Imperial" Shih Tzu. Their former person was having emergency medical issues that were life threatening, and they were not well enough to take care of them. Our nonprofit became the safety net for these incredible Shih Tzu.  Our nonprofit is here to help so the Animal Saints do not end up in overcrowded government animal control facilities that euthanize due to lack of space. Clementine recently arrived to our sanctuary to get all of the medical care she needs. Now that we have gotten to know her personality and she has shown us what she needs in a family, she is ready to be placed in her lifetime home. We look forward to finding out who this will be!  Get to Know Clementine age: 3-4 breed: Shih Tzu weight:  7.5 pounds Vaccines:  Rabies  DHPP Bordetella  Corona/flu  Other Tests and Procedures:  Spayed in June, 2026 Snap 4Dx test (passed and tested negative for heart worm, lyme, ehrlichia, and anaplasmosis)   Dental cleaning in June, 2026  Bloodwork June, 2026 - Numbers within normal ranges and nothing concerning.  Additional procedures and treatments:  • Microchipped • Fecal test, negative • Flea/tick preventive treatment, heart worm prevention, and dewormer  • First positive reinforcement training sessions  • Several baths and grooms   A good health certificate will be provided with her medical records. Requested adoption donation fee is only $800. This is to partly cover the costs of care that our 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue has incurred. On average, Animal Saints’ cost to save a life through our nonprofit exceeds $2,000 per Saint. We do our best to keep our adoption requests as reasonable as possible to encourage more people to adopt.   Breed and Hair Notes  Clementine has hair and not fur. She is a very rare "Imperial" Shih Tzu with liver and cream hues. She is full grown and tiny. Some are guessing she has a bit of Pekingese in the mix. Whatever she is, she's amazing and one-of-a-kind.  PLEASE NOTE: Clementine’s hair will grow as it is not fur. She will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Clementine is terrific for baths and grooming. She’s had a few since arriving. She was frightened at first, but now she loves the attention. An adopter who loves to maintain her longer hair is an ideal match.  Personality Clementine is incredibly sweet but incredibly shy. Once she trusts someone, her loyalty, love, and exuberance for life is so impressive and moving. Her eagerness to connect is there, but please note that this connection will take time. It’s possible that it will take a least a couple of visits to our sanctuary before she connects with her new person. If you are an empathetic soul and can completely understand that this will take time with her personality, please keep reading.  It appears that Clementine has not met very many people in her life. She is under socialized and skittish. Because of it, she is a flight risk. Only very securely fenced-in yards will be accepted for her. Do not plan to take her for a walk safely until you’ve completed all of your training classes. She is just getting comfortable being outside; she’s not yet ready for leashed walking. In time, we can see her potentially enjoying it. But it will take time and patience to allow her to gain confidence.  If you live in an urban setting and fall in love with Clementine, please note that it will take weeks and even months before she is comfortable with the sights and sounds of city life. With a very experienced adopter, this could be possible. But we do believe she will be much calmer and happier in a quieter setting.  Clementine gravitates toward hanging out with her sister (from a different litter) named Marigold. She also loves the more laidback matriarchs here in the sanctuary. Clementine learns from the more outgoing Animal Saints here, and she gains confidence by watching them. With this in mind, we see her thriving in a home with other small dogs. In a home as an only dog, the confidence building will take much longer.  Clementine’s favourite spot in the sanctuary is a velvet sofa. As her hair grows out, she’s looking quite regal and is becoming very at ease with her surroundings. She will perch on her pillow and watch everyone intently. When volunteers do office work in her flat, she runs over by them and promptly gets comfortable in a dog bed next to their feet. She’s makes a great assistant! She is very observant and follows humans’ cues well.  Clementine is getting familiar with foundational skills training. We are working on “sit,” recall word “here,” and “look.” We expect her new family to continue her training sessions to keep her safe in her new life with them. Watch Clementine's short film and see a glimpse of our sanctuary: :https://vimeo.com/1216866664   Ideal Home It is ideal for Clementine to be in a home with people who are around most of the time. Plan on sharing your sofa and bedroom with her. Once she trusts you, she will want to be by your side, no matter where you are and what you are doing.  She will especially thrive in a home that can give her companionship day and night. She will be okay if you have to be away for a few hours, but only if another Animal Saint or Saints are in your home. She loves her sister Marigold who is also available for adoption. It would be wonderful to find a home for them to live together.  Clementine is very small — smaller than a standard size Shih Tzu. For her safety, she needs to be in a home with dogs who are a similar size.  Clementine is a great traveler and is comfortable in a travel safety carrier or latched in a car harness. But no daytime/nighttime crates for her. If they are a must for your lifestyle, then she is not for you.  Older children are case by case — only those who have experience living with dogs, understand dog behavior, and have great respect and love for them will be considered.  Love and Commitment  At Animal Saints Rescue Society, our goal is to keep dogs out of overcapacity animal control facilities and out of a re-homing cycle. Our goal is to place the dogs we save into lifetime families.  With this in mind, we seek adopters who understand that an adoption is a lifetime commitment. The families who adopt from us believe that love is not a feeling, it is a decision. Some humans still believe it’s okay to try out a dog for a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years — then discard when they get bored or don’t want to deal with emotional or physical needs.  We are looking for the empathetic, kind, and patient humans in this world who view these Animal Saints as family. They don't believe animals are subordinates or view them as mere possessions; they are partners in life. They are committed to giving them the safety and love they need to flourish.  Will that family be you? We look forward to finding out and receiving your application!     October 30, 2026, 3:36 pm

Meet Max, a distinguished senior gentleman with a heart of gold and a soft spot for cozy laps! Max is at a point in his life where he truly appreciates the finer things: warm snuggles, delicious treats, and being pampered like the king he is. While he’s happy to do a gentle patrol around the yard to stretch his paws, his absolute favorite mode of transportation is being carried around by his favorite human. Why You’ll Fall for Max Social Butterfly: Max hasn't met a stranger yet! He genuinely loves every person and dog he meets, making him a gentle, friendly addition to almost any home. Story
🩵 Meet Chavvo (aka Beans!) — A Tiny Boy With a Big Heart and a Whole New World to Discover! 🩵 Approximately 10–12 months old | 12 lbs | Male | Possible Bichon Frise/Poodle Mix | Full of Energy and Love Chavvo's story is heartbreaking, but the best part is that his story is no longer about what he's endured. It's about everything wonderful that still lies ahead. ❤️🐾 This little boy has spent almost his entire life without the love, care, and attention every dog deserves. Now, for the first time, he's discovering just how beautiful life can be. And let us tell you, he's READY to live it! 💔 A life no puppy should ever have to endure Chavvo was born in Mexico, where he spent approximately 90% of his life alone inside a home infested with feces and roaches. People came and went, but only one person paid him much attention. Sadly, that person passed away when Chavvo was around five months old. After that, he was left with little to no human contact. No adventures. No walks. No playtime. No grooming appointments. No vet visits. Just a tiny puppy growing up in a world that had seemingly forgotten him. We heard about Chavvo through word of mouth and offered multiple times to help, but his owners refused to surrender him. Eventually, we were able to secure him, although they wanted $100 for him. They didn't seem concerned about where he went, as long as they got their money. So we paid it. Because his life was worth it. ❤️ And that was the beginning of everything changing. ✂️ A fresh start, from the inside out When Chavvo first came into our care, his coat was severely matted, twisted tightly against his skin. It was so bad that he had to be completely shaved down. His skin was red and irritated, and his coat was full of feces, urine, and who knows what else. To make matters worse, one of his nails had curled around and grown into his paw pad. We made sure that was taken care of immediately. He had never even been to a groomer or a veterinarian before. And here's another heartbreaking detail: the people who had him had forgotten his name. His foster gave him a new name: Chavvo! Some of us initially thought she said Charro, so a few of us lovingly call him Beans. 😂🩵 Once his painful, matted coat was gone, Chavvo looked at himself in the mirror. We can only imagine what was going through that little head of his, but we'd like to think he knew something had changed. That his old life was behind him and a new one had begun. He may look a little naked right now, but we can promise you he's feeling so much better! As his coat grows back, we expect him to become one absolutely gorgeous little boy. Just remember that his beautiful coat will require regular professional grooming throughout his life. 🩵 The most amazing surprise? He LOVES people! After everything Chavvo has been through, you might expect him to be afraid of people or reluctant to trust them. But this little guy? He is absolutely THRILLED to be around humans! He gets so excited about practically everything. A person giving him attention? AMAZING! Something new to explore? INCREDIBLE! A chance to be included in whatever you're doing? BEST. DAY. EVER! He is discovering the world with the enthusiasm of a puppy who has just realized how much fun life can be. And honestly, watching him experience these simple joys is one of the most rewarding parts of his journey. Chavvo has so much love and happiness inside that little body. He just needs someone willing to help him learn how to navigate his brand-new life. 🐶 He LOVES other dogs! Despite having very little interaction with other animals during his early life, Chavvo absolutely adores other dogs! He wants to meet every dog he's introduced to and is so excited to make friends. He's still learning appropriate social manners, though, and his enthusiasm can be a little overwhelming for dogs who prefer a calmer introduction. We believe having a friendly, confident, well-socialized dog in his future home could be incredibly beneficial. Another dog could help him learn routines, canine communication, and all those wonderful things that dogs teach each other. ⚡ A little dog with A LOT of energy! Chavvo has spent much of his young life confined indoors, with very little opportunity to run, play, explore, or simply be a puppy. Now that he has the chance, he is making up for lost time! This boy has energy to spare, and he's still learning what to do with it all. He'll need a family prepared to provide daily exercise, playtime, enrichment, and positive training to help him channel that enthusiasm into healthy habits. He is still a baby in so many ways. Although his body is nearly full-grown, he's missed out on important early experiences that help puppies learn about the world. He will need patience, consistency, and gentle guidance as he learns things other dogs may have taken for granted their entire lives. Household routines, leash manners, boundaries, basic commands, and settling down when it's time to relax may all be new concepts for him. His future family must be prepared to teach him, encourage him, and celebrate the little victories along the way. Chavvo isn't a finished product. He's a little soul who is just beginning to discover who he can be. 🩵 🏡 What kind of home does Beans need? Chavvo needs a family who understands that love is only the beginning. He will also need time, training, structure, and a commitment to helping him grow into a confident, well-mannered companion. His ideal home would offer: • A patient family who understands that he is learning many everyday skills for the first time. • Plenty of exercise and enrichment, including walks, playtime, sniffing opportunities, and adventures. • Positive, consistent training to help him develop good manners and learn how to settle. • A friendly canine companion, if possible, who could help him learn and enjoy appropriate dog-to-dog interaction. • Lots of human companionship. After spending so much of his life alone, Chavvo deserves to be included in family life and given opportunities to build healthy bonds. • A lifelong grooming commitment. His coat will need regular brushing and professional grooming to prevent painful matting from returning. • Chavvo may be a possible Bichon Frise/Poodle mix, and his coat may have lower-shedding characteristics. However, no breed or coat type is truly guaranteed to be hypoallergenic, it’s only an estimate. At just 12 pounds, he's a little guy with a whole lot of personality. He may be small, but his excitement for life is absolutely enormous! 🌎 Just imagine the life he could have... Imagine Chavvo discovering the beach for the first time. Imagine him running through the grass, playing with a doggy friend, learning new tricks, and going on little adventures with his people. Imagine him having a soft bed, toys of his own, regular meals, a comfortable home, and a family who never forgets his name. Imagine him being groomed regularly, receiving veterinary care whenever he needs it, and growing up knowing that he is safe. These are such ordinary things for many dogs. But for Chavvo, they are opportunities he has barely had. He has already shown us something truly special: despite a life that gave him very little reason to trust the world, he is excited to embrace it. He wants to meet people. He wants to make friends. He wants to play, explore, and be part of something. He just needs someone to show him the way. 🩵 Can you give Chavvo the life he has never had? Chavvo's past cannot be changed. We can't give him back the puppyhood he missed or erase the neglect he endured. But we can help give him a future filled with kindness, security, adventure, and love. He deserves a family who sees beyond his current haircut and his still-developing manners. A family who sees a bright, happy, affectionate young dog with so much potential. Someone who will laugh at his silly antics, patiently teach him the ropes, take him places he's never been, and help him discover all the wonderful things the world has to offer. Someone who understands that the most rewarding dogs aren't always the ones who arrive knowing everything. Sometimes, they're the ones who blossom because someone finally gives them the chance. Chavvo has spent his first months surviving. Now it's time for him to start living. 🐾🩵 Could you be the person who gives Beans his happily ever after? Please help us find this handsome little boy the loving, patient, forever home he's been waiting for. His whole world is just beginning, and we cannot wait to see how beautifully he blossoms. ❤️ PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW IF INTERESTED IN ADOPTING: The next step to adopt is to fill out an application on our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org Charro is neutered, heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and has received a clean bill of health from a veterinarian already.
