Story
Our Tooti is a vivacious sweetheart who has shown us a lot of older puppy mojo. She was found as a country stray in North Carolina, and was then transferred to our Connecticut rescue, where she has completely charmed everyone she meets. Our Vet Techs love Tooti! Tooti has quickly adjusted to the chaotic rescue process and has become one of our most beloved fosters. She has grown into a proper Hound busybody with her nose in everybody's affairs. About two years old, Miss Tooti now is ready for her second act!  Tooti is a sweet girl, who can be shy at first stranger meeting, but warms up into a total lovebug. She would thrive in an active adult home, with folks who can commit to her training program. She could join a home with older kids, who were taught to be respectful of animals, and she has lived harmoniously with some other dogs. We would need to do an in-person dog introduction to determine specific dog chemistry. Tooti is not a fan of cats.  Tooti is in excellent health and is at a lean weight of 30 pounds. She appears to be a Plott Hound, with classic brindle coloring. She has the Scent Hound tendency to "sniff the roses," and likes to slow down occasionally on her daily walks. Tooti has made great progress on her leash manners and basic obedience commands. Adopters should continue her on the path to Canine Good Citizenship.  Tooti has good house manners, and is mostly house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. Tooti is in great health after treatment for heartworm, and will be spayed before final adoption. She has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. If you are interested in Tooti, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Introducing the blonde beauty, Carina! Carina is one of the precious Star Squad cuties who is currently hanging out in boarding while she waits for her perfect forever (or foster!) home. While we prefer that our cuties are fostered in homes to learn about being a part of a family, where she is being boarded she is getting to play, run, meet new people and learn how to make new friends! At only 8 months old, she is still growing into an amazing dog and deserves the perfect home to do that in! This blonde brindle is about 45lbs, and will stay medium-sized! She is a plotthound/shepherd mix that has stunning caramel eyes. She loves to rest her head in her human friends’ hands and lock eyes. Carina is sweet and loving and prefers to hang out with men! She loves to give snuggles and play with other pups and older kids. Carina is looking for a patient home that understands that she might be a little nervous at first, but she will make it worth it when she learns that they’re her people! She is eager to learn, does well when crated while her people are away, and is working on leash training. Her perfect homie must have a fenced in yard and enjoy spending time out back with her! She loves to hang out outside, but only if her people are there with her. If you’re looking for a gentle girl with a lot of love to give, and don’t mind waiting a little for her real personality to show - carina is your girl! Story
😍BOSTON🐾 Boston is an adorable, petite one year old plot hound mix that is loved dearly by her foster parents, but ready for her forever home!🏡 Sweet Boston bounces and hops around instead of running, it’s like she doesn’t quite understand the concept on running yet so she just hops everywhere! She has a happy go lucky personality, amazing recall, and is crate/house trained!🐶 Boston is a pro at leash walking and loves walks with her foster mom! She gives “love nibbles” that her foster LOVES and thinks it’s the cutest and sweetest ever🖤 The world is still a little scary for her right now so big/loud crowds or places aren’t her thing (but she will get there!) Shes doing great with other dogs at doggie daycare and in her foster home! She is an adventurous dog! Training, hiking, and other things like that would be right up her alley. She’s still got some pup energy so she LOVES to play. She’s also got a very loving side to her where you can tell she just longs for someone she can love and snuggle 🥰 In her forever home, Boston will need someone who is willing to work with her, and be there for her as she continues to learn how to be a dog. She’ll need someone who can give her exercise, all the tummy rubs, and someone who is patient, and is willing to learn with her.🐕 If Boston sounds like your girl, apply today!🏡 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: MYSTIC GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-13-22 APPROX WEIGHT: 50 approx BREED: Plot Hound Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) RESCUE STORY: Every so often we come across an unfortunate situation and we are compelled to help. It is not abandonment or neglect; it is simply a loving pet owner that can no longer care for their pet. We are so happy when they reach out to us so that we may help find the pup a new, loving home instead of being turned into a shelter where, sadly, their fate is commonly not a good one. Turning in a dog is by no means easy on the human, but the dog also goes through a lot of stress and feelings of loss. They just don’t understand why they were taken from their home and their people. Mystic is going through this right now, and we are in search of new people for her, people who will be just as lucky to get her as she is them. PERSONALITY: Mystic is a beautiful Plot Hound Mix with silky brindle fur that looks like a tiger, and a delightful personality to boot! Foster mom says she is super sweet and very smart. Mystic is young and energetic and would absolutely love a young couple to hike with or a family with children to play with (we ALWAYS stress, however, that young children and dogs should never be left unsupervised for the safety of both). ABOUT THE BREED: When it comes to the personality, the Plott Hounds are confident, courageous and bright dogs. In addition to it, their kind nature attracts the attention of the people. Hounds are one of the most popular breeds in the USA because they are loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. Plott Hounds will defend their owners from perceived threats. And early socialization is imperative to prevent this trait from getting out of hand. This breed is also fantastic watchdogs. Plott Hounds are incredibly brave. They were bred to hunt massive animals such as bears, so they will not back down from any person or dog no matter the size. The Hounds are known to fit perfectly into family life with its sweet, peaceful and gentle nature. These dogs are well behaved and always friendly. They are not aggressive to people and other animals. They will happily welcome your guests with a tail wag. This breed is just as happy lounging around the house. They are extremely affectionate with all the family members and have an average activity level. The Plott Hound has a curious and playful temperament. Firstly, these dogs are loyal and smart. Moreover, they love to please their people and be along with them every-time possible. Overall, the Plott Hounds are people-oriented dogs that behave very well with their family members. Though the Plott Hounds are loyal and affectionate with their people, they are somewhat wary of strangers. And they are likely to bark at them at first. But when properly introduced, they get along very quickly. Lastly, the independent and stubborn nature of them play a huge role while training. CHILDREN: Yes, the Plott Hounds have a good reputation when it comes to dealing with kids. However, these dogs are better with older children who know how to treat dogs better. And this means they are not suited for younger kids. These dogs can become very possessive of their food items. To conclude, the Plott Hounds are only recommended for families with older children. WHY THE PLOTT HOUND? The Plott Hound is a fabulous pet for dog savvy owners. The Plott Hound temperament makes it a challenging choice for beginners, but if you are an experienced guardian and you are looking for a fiercely loyal companion, the Plott Hound might be the dog for you. Mystic had a loving owner and is now in search of a new forever home to call her own. If you think Mystic might be the right addition to your family, please give her a chance. She is such a wonderful girl!
