******Please note, once you complete the initial screening, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks, and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Dipsy, 1.5 years old, neutered male, black mouth cur and plot hound mix, 64lbs. Dipsy is in a foster home in Houston, Texas and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Dipsy is a tall, dark, handsome introvert with perfect natural eyeliner, soft soulful eyes, and fur so smooth you’ll want to pet him (please do—he loves a good brushing). He’s a mysterious-but-goofy boy who proudly digs through toy boxes like an archaeologist on a mission to select the perfect one and rolls in the grass like he’s checking into a luxury spa. Dipsy takes time to bond, but once he trusts you, he’ll wake you with gentle paw taps and his deep “Barry White” morning voice. He loves to play—sometimes a little too enthusiastically—so he appreciates help remembering to take cooldown breaks. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes, plays politely with cats when he’s bored, and does best with kids 10+ since he’s still working on toning down his excited “love pinches.” Dipsy is housebroken, crate trained, respectful around food and toys, fantastic in the car, but might steal a snack off the counter. He also loves sliding himself under your desk like a big furry foot warmer, “talks” when you come home like he’s giving you a full recap of his day, and once in a while stares dramatically into the distance as if he’s in an indie film. His ideal home has adults or older kids, ideally another dog friend, and people who enjoy walks, playtime, and letting an introvert unfold at his own pace. If you’re patient, loving, active, and appreciate a beautiful, quirky, soft-hearted boy Dipsy might be your perfect match. If you are interested in adding Dipsy into your family, please fill out the adoption application below! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDAR/Dog ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***

Looking for a co-pilot who is as chill as a Sunday morning but ready for a brewery patio at a moment’s notice? Meet Baby Bear, the leash walking legend and professional social butterfly who is ready to steal your heart! Bear is the definition of a best of both worlds kind of guy. He’s got that magic touch where he’s incredibly tuned in to his person, kind of like a total shadow who checks in constantly. Although he’s just as happy to kick back and watch the world go by, perfectly content soaking it all in without needing to steal the spotlight. Baby Bear is a total heart melter! He’s the kind of dog who is happy to work for a treat, but even happier to just be wherever you are! Ready to fall in love? Watch Baby Bear’s video, you won’t want to miss those goofy ears in action! https://youtu.be/Ho0FjTK_I9Y We think this silly guy is a Plott Hound mix, making him that perfect medium sized package! At 41lbs, he is sturdy enough for walks but small enough to fit comfortably in the backseat for a coffee run. With those soulful eyes, one striking blue and one warm brown! Baby Bear is a total head turner. His gorgeous brindle coat only adds to his good looks, giving him that extra touch of “who is that handsome guy?” energy. Of course, being a rescue means his breed mix is a bit of a mystery. Baby Bear is currently living his best life in a foster home, where he’s proven to be a total household pro. He is crate and potty trained! Car rides are seriously his favorite, if you’re headed to Home Depot or grabbing a latte, Bear is already waiting by the door with his “take me with you” eyes! He’s also a perfect work from home companion, happily keeping you company while you tackle your day. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, and snuggly sidekick, Baby Bear is ready to steal your heart (and maybe your spot on the couch)! When it comes to other dogs, Bear is a total rockstar! He is just a big, playful puppy at heart who loves a good game of chase. He’s incredibly respectful of other dogs' boundaries, takes corrections like a champ, and knows exactly when to take a "paws" and chill out on his own. He would thrive in a home with another medium-energy dog who can match his playful spirit but also enjoys a good afternoon nap. However, he is equally happy to be your "one and only." While he loves his canine buddies, Bear is more than content to soak up all the spotlight and be the sole recipient of your love and attention. Whether he’s part of a pack or the king of the castle, Bear is ready to move in! Is Baby Bear a fan of the felines? Absolutely, he’s proven he can hang with his feline friends like a true gentleman. No funny business here, just polite sniffs, respectful vibes, and maybe a shared nap or two. Baby Bear’s ready to be everyone’s bestie, whiskers included! Baby Bear is a versatile fellow! He’s so well behaved on a leash and has great impulse control, he could potentially rock the apartment life as long as he gets his small adventures every now and then. However, he’d also love a yard to zoom around in. To top it off, he is a world class cuddler who will gladly share the couch for a movie marathon. Plus, if you're a fan of road trips, you're in luck he is fantastic in the car and ready for any journey you have in mind! Baby Bear is a goofy, cuddly, and incredibly polished little gentleman who is just waiting for a family to call his own. He’s got the brains of a working dog and the soul of a full time, professional lap warmer (yes, it’s a very serious job and he takes it very seriously). Hello there, sorry for the wait ... My name is Doc and I'm here to see YOU actually! Let's see now, you say you're experiencing the lack of a fun loving companion dog in your life? You need to get out and go on walks more? And you say here that you have a huge backyard but no one to play in it with? These symptoms lead me to believe you're suffering from INAD syndrome ... also known as "I need a dog disease." and we have JUST the cure for you!!! I am a DOC :) Well, I think I can prescribe you something that'll help reduce these symptoms and get you back on track to healthy living.... here is what one of my admirers has to say about me ;) "Doc is a super playful dude and is soo happy to meet everyone he sees and just is an overall bouncing bundle of joy. He loves walks, pets and scratches, and loves to do sprints with you. When you're walking he will walk slightly ahead of you and is super excited to meet everyone. He'll try to pull but once he realizes you are not coming too fast he will do this cute little hop thing where he bounces between his front paws and his back paws, its adorable" That is quite an admirer, right??? If you'll just go ahead and sign here on my adoption papers, we can get started right now on your treatment!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Meet Betsy Blue, the wiggly, talkative, piglet-sounding sweetheart you didn’t know you needed in your life. Betsy is about two years old, and while we can’t be certain since she’s a rescue, our best guess is that she’s a Catahoula Leopard Dog and Pittie mix. With her one blue eye and one brown eye, her soft, floppy ears, and her gorgeous coloring, she’s as stunning as she is silly. At first, Betsy can be a little hesitant when meeting new people. She’ll do her signature “drive by bump” just to test you out before deciding you’re worthy of her wiggles. But once she warms up, you’ll see a whole new side of her — joyful, snorty, and downright hilarious. Her foster says she sounds like a piglet when she gets excited, and she’s been known to jump for joy when her favorite people walk into the room. Once you’re in Betsy’s inner circle, you’ll be greeted with wags, wiggles, and the most loving gaze you could imagine. This girl has a deep love for her people. See just how loving and silly this girl can be in her video! https://youtu.be/s42gtTUfaQg?si=chzlVTRf8K1Stl5r Betsy is an active girl who loves her walks, and she’s an absolute dream on the leash. She’ll trot right beside you, checking in with sweet eye contact to make sure you’re enjoying yourself as much as she is. Back at home, she’s a toy enthusiast — her favorite playthings are actually small plush cat toys. She’ll toss them into the air, chase them around, and keep herself entertained with the tiniest of stuffies. She’s also a huge foodie, totally motivated by treats, which makes her not only fun but easy to train. Betsy is a smart girl too! She picks up new commands within a day or so, and loves to spend quality time learning with you. Betsy has lived with other dogs in her foster home and, while she can be shy and a little unsure at first, she blossoms once she feels safe. With time and patience, she turns into a playful companion who enjoys running, chasing, and being chased. She’s also done well living with cats, she’s proven herself capable of settling in peacefully with them. She even wrestles with her feline foster siblings!! Dog-savvy cats are definitely the best fit! Because Betsy can be slow to open up to new people, she would do best with a family who understands the beauty of patience. She would thrive in a quieter home where she can truly decompress, gain confidence, and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Older kids who can respect her space and let her come around on her own terms would be a great match for her. Once she trusts you, though, Betsy bonds hard. She’ll be your devoted best friend, your walking buddy, your toy-tossing partner, and your snuggly couch companion. Betsy never fails to bring a smile to everyone she meets. She’s wiggly, silly, snorty, and incredibly loyal — the kind of dog who will make you laugh every single day while reminding you just how special the bond between a rescue and their person can be. She has been described as just so loveable! If you’re ready to give her the patience she deserves, Betsy is ready to give you her whole heart. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Jennie has recently just won the award for best hugs. She puts her front legs around you and if for some reason she can’t give you a full on hug, she will just wrap her little paws around your arm, looking deeply into your eyes. Don’t believe us? Guess you will just have to find out for yourself when you come to meet her! Jennie is dog friendly, cat tolerant, and most of all a people lover, kids included! People are just her favorite! She is very timid and loves a calm environment so we could see her in a quiet home with a solid everyday routine! Jennie is even cat friendly! Are you ready to meet Jennie (Huggie)? Here she is! Meet Jennie here: https://youtu.be/odtLFfKUIJ0?si=qslLtgsCLKDyKhrE Jennie is a goofy girl who loves to bounce bounce bounce from one person to the next, looking for her next hug. She has been around kids as young as 4 years old to 11 years old and you guessed it, she was a huggie girl with them too. She definitely gravitated toward the Elijah, the 11 year old and was so happy sitting next to him, giving him sweet kisses, and inching herself closer for hugs. Even for snuggles on the floor, she loved being snuggled by Elijah and really enjoyed being around his calm energy. She did great with Kobe, the 4 year old too, she just definitely had a favorite. It didn't bother her when Kobe was jumping around, tossing toys, making loud noises or even moving fast unexpectedly, she just sat next to Elijah, watched him, and then went out of her way to go give Kobe a little kiss. Jennie would be a great companion for a family with 1-2 kids, and would be happiest with both kids little bit older or similar to Elijah and Kobe's age difference. She appreciates the way older kids give her a little space to open up and even more so when even smaller humans are around, you know to teach them the ropes sorta thing. She let them dress her up, put silly bunny ears on her, and headbands. One thing that was super cute and she kept on doing, was she kept coming back to Elijah and laying her head on the pillow right next to him! It was so sweet! This girl is definitely ready for movie nights! Her gentle approach with younger kids can even be said with other doggy pals, so we can see her with a more calm sibling that keeps to themselves or maybe even being your one and only! She has formally requested a house with a yard, so if you’re selling a spot in your family, Jennie’s buying! Jennie kept to herself when meeting Biggie the kitty, so he told us she gets the feline friendly stamp of approval! Yay Jennie! She is also amazing in the car, going from window to window just soaking it all in! You will definitely will brownie points with this one if you stop for a pup cup on the way home. Apply for her below! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/68017821cbc3bb4a0e0e44ed Questions? You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience! The adoption fee is $900 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship! We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
Looking for a professional cuddler who doubles as a world class playmate? Meet the girl who is ready to turn your home into a nonstop festival of belly rubs and tail wags! https://youtu.be/y1boHfjcpps If sweetness were a sport, this girl would have a gold medal around her neck! She’s the ultimate cool girl who wins over every human she meets with a little wiggle and a lot of heart. While she might start off a tiny bit shy, one treat is all it takes to unlock her goofy, love bug personality. Get ready for a dog who doesn’t just live with you; she celebrates you every single day! This girl is the definition of a velcro dog in the very best way. She is a dedicated shadow who prefers to be wherever you are, whether you’re folding laundry or finally finishing that book. She isn’t necessarily looking to hike across the country; she's more of a map out the best spot on the rug kind of girl. If you’re looking for a companion who prioritizes quality time and indoor snuggles, you’ve found your match. While we’re always playing a fun guessing game with rescue breeds, we believe Gracie is a Catahoula mix! She has a beautiful white and brindle coat that is truly captivating; it’s the kind of coat you can’t look at just once, as you’re constantly discovering new patterns and variations in her stripes. Weighing in at a solid 56lbs, she’s compact enough to be your favorite plus one for errands, yet has a heart that’s clearly oversized! She’s the ideal size for someone who wants a buddy who fits comfortably on the sofa next to them. She is currently thriving in a foster home where she’s already proving what a star student she can be. Gracie is gentle and patient, she is also kid-friendly, making her a wonderful addition to a home with children. She’s familiar with her crate and settles down beautifully. She’s a dream in the house, calm, focused, and very respectful of her boundaries (and her snacks!). Whether it’s a car ride to the park or a quiet evening in, she’s just happy to be part of the family. When it comes to other dogs, she is an absolute rockstar! She handles leash greetings with total grace and is always down for a game of tag with her canine friends. She’s a very balanced girl who gets along with almost everyone. She’d be a fantastic addition to a home with an existing dog who wants a playful, easygoing sister to romp around with. She is also a devoted soul who is more than happy to thrive as your one and only, soaking up every bit of your attention. The jury is still out on whether Gracie’s a cat person, but she’s definitely got the curiosity! To make sure it’s a purrfect match, she’s ready to have a supervised sleepover with a feline. It would be the best way to see if she and a kitty sibling can become the ultimate besties. Don’t have a massive backyard? No problem! This girl is the ultimate apartment candidate. She’s easy to exercise and knows exactly how to flip the off switch once she’s indoors. Her foster mom says she’s happiest just hanging out and cuddling, making her the perfect neighbor. Her ideal home is anywhere her favorite person happens to be! In short, she’s a sensitive soul with a love for other dogs, and a serious talent for belly rubs. She’s the loyal, easy to love companion you’ve been dreaming of, wrapped up in a sweet, wiggly package.
