Story
Gracie is just the sweetest, happiest puppy! She's old enough to be past the super nibbling stage but young enough to learn all her tricks with you! Gracie absolutely loves every person, child and dog she meets! She can play hard and nap with the best of them! She has a sweet soul. She's a 40-ish pound pointer mix, has a lean build, and is probably around 10 months old. If you're looking for a playmate and snuggle buddy, Gracie may be your girl!

Story
I WILL BE AT THE ADOPTION EVENT AT THE PETSMART IN FAIRFAX ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13TH, FROM 12 TO 2PM. STOP BY TO SAY HELLO! Current Location: Strasburg, VA Hello, my name is Dottie! I'm thought to be a Pointer mix, about 2 years old and currently weigh about 40 pounds. I'm a submissive gal with a sweet temperament and do very well with the people and dogs I've met. I love, love, love to snuggle and like nothing better than to sit next to my people and get lots of attention and hugs. I'm also house trained and walk well on the leash. I just weaned my litter of pups and will be spayed on 12/1. I'm heartworm positive and will receive treatment on 12/15 and can go home with my new family in time to celebrate the new year. I am microchipped, current on my vaccines and monthly preventives, and will be spayed and have received heartworm treatment prior to adoption. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.

Patterson is a friendly boy who adores everyone he meets – people, older kids, other dogs, even cats -- you name it. He would thrive in a home where he can soak up love, companionship, and playtime. Patterson's journey hasn’t been easy – he bravely battled and beat parvovirus, a tough and often deadly illness for puppies. This young, resilient fella is packed with energy, joy, and just enough mischief to keep life interesting.    Patterson would do well in an active, multi-dog home where he could get the exercise he needs. He’d be a fantastic dog for a jogger, biker, hiker, anything active. He’s super smart, food-motivated (sensitive tummy menu only, please), and absolutely lives for toys and mental enrichment. Important note: cloth toys are a hard No — Patterson believes they are snacks. Chew toys = yes. Stuffed toys = emergency.       Patterson is fully potty trained and will politely whine when nature calls… unless he gets distracted by something exciting (life happens). Crate trained? Yes. But his preferred sleeping arrangement is under the covers, preferably with his people. He loves belly pats better than anything else, and gives lots of kisses to say thank you. He knows his basic commands along with some others, loves learning, and enjoys engaging games that keep his brilliant brain busy.  He occasionally play-bites when bored and may still sneak a chew on something he shouldn’t — but hey, nobody’s perfect. He’s been successful with other dogs at the dog park, as long as they give him his space. He does get overwhelmed by bigger dogs. He has also lived with a dominant cat and did well with respecting boundaries.     Patterson's ideal forever home would be an active one with dog-savvy humans, room to run, structured play, and lots of love. Bonus points if you enjoy outdoor adventures and don’t mind sharing your bed  Apply today if you’re looking for a resilient, affectionate, athletic sidekick with a heart of gold and a belly that must be rubbed! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life.
