Meet handsome Connor! This young man was a stray that went unclaimed. He is a sweetheart and seems fine with cats and other dogs. He has a more petite frame and weighs 40lbs. The perfect size! He is good on leash for the dog walkers and loves going. He has not had a meeting with kids yet. He seems like the type of family member who would integrate in easily. He is just a happy fella! Apply for Connor today!

Story
Hi, I'm Python! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Story
Sweet little Bea was running around rural Georgia with her sidekick for several weeks after apparently being dumped. Everybody in the area said they were friendly, but no one knew them so they called animal control. The girls were very bonded at first, but we feel like their first love is people. They want to love people and be loved so badly but when they didn’t have any people, they became very attached to each other. Her sidekick has now found her forever home and it’s Miss Bea’s turn now. She’s exceptionally sweet and outgoing. She loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She also loves to snuggle on the couch. Bea is 22 pounds and between four and five years old. WE ARE ONLY GUESSING AT HER BREED! She does not really have a JRT temperament but she has the size and cute little short tail. She is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm tested negative. She appears to be a very healthy and happy girl. She had a couple of accidents the first day in her foster home but now she’s doing very well with house training if you would like to be Miss Bea’s hero and the center of her world, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or Dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send you our information and application. Story
Meet Dean!  Dean is an almost 1 yr old Pointer/hound mix with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He’s very much still a puppy at heart — energetic, curious, and always ready for his next adventure. Dean is currently working on basic manners like sit and “nice,” and he’s learning quickly with treats and consistency. One of Dean’s absolute favorite things in the world is cuddling. If you’re hoping for personal space during movie night… Dean may not be your guy . He will happily climb into your lap, shower you with kisses, and then flop over for belly rubs, channeling some serious Puss in Boots puppy-eyes energy. When he’s done loving on you, he’ll settle in close by — or sprawl out dramatically on the couch or bed. Dean is doing well with potty training and will use puppy pads and go outside. He does get very excited when greeting his people and may have an excited pee, so quick trips outside right after greetings work best for him. He’s still learning how to manage big feelings, but he’s trying! True to his puppy status, Dean is a chewer. Toys, kid items, and anything left within reach are fair game, so supervision and plenty of appropriate chew toys are important. He’s also very curious — including about things he probably shouldn’t be interested in — so a tidy home and guidance will help set him up for success. Dean loves other dogs and enjoys playing and cuddling with them. If one dog goes on an adventure, Dean will happily tag along — and come back together. Cats are still a question mark; he wants to play, but may be a bit much for cats who prefer lounging and being admired from a distance. Dean would thrive in an active home that can provide exercise, structure, training, and lots of affection. In return, you’ll get a hilarious, loving, loyal companion who believes there’s no such thing as too much togetherness. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining pup who will keep you laughing and loved, Dean may be your perfect match   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $250 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs.
