Story
Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine. If you would like to consider Billie for a member of your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the NW Suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to our area.

Story
Hello! My name is Sasha and I am about 4 years old. I'm not quite sure what I am mixed with. Some of my papers say Shepherd and some say Labradoodle. That's a funny one because my fur is really short and definitely not curly. My fur is black and white. Mostly white but I have black freckles. I weigh 50#s. I'm the perfect size! My Mama had to move into a nursing home, and I couldn't go with her. I was so ready to go. I had my things packed up. I don't require much. Just my leash, collar and my bone - I travel light. But sadly, the nursing home said no doggies can come with. So, thankfully some nice folks at Hounds Town knew about me and helped out. I get to go there during the day and play with other dogs. Sometimes I have my sleepovers there too Hounds Town reached out to Treasured Animal Rescue and asked if I could be one of their Gems. They met me and knew I was a gem right away. I get more playdates & sleepovers. I'm such a lucky girl to have so many people helping me find a new home. I was sad when my Mama was no longer with me, but I know she loves me, and I loved her as best I could. Now, it's time for another family to love me. I'm a quiet girl. I like to be around other dogs. I love to sniff and explore. I walk really well on a leash, and I like car rides. I sit really well in my seat and watch the world drive by. I wonder what adventure I am going to. In my foster home there are other dogs and cats. I've met the dogs at my doggie daycare, and we are friends. The cats? It's still un-decided. The cats here are very "dog-savvy". They are used to dogs barking at them. The only time I bark is when I see one of the cats. I might chase them but I don't mean them any harm. Even though my foster home has cats it might be best my forever home does not have any cats. My foster home also has a fenced yard and my forever home MUST have a fenced yard. Even though I'm great walking on leash I will pull you to see that squirrel or rabbit and try to chase them. No fenced yard I can become a stray. I haven't been around kids so maybe we just say older kids for right now. I might jump on you when we first me. That's just me saying "let's be friends" and I'll give you a hug. I'm ready for my next adventure. I'm ready for a new family and a new home. Maybe my new family will have a fenced yard that I can walk around and explore. We can go for daily walks. At nighttime, I'll lay by your feet or maybe I'll have a dog bed. I will give you that unconditional love a dog gives. My Mama loved me enough to be sure I was taken care of. I think of her every day but she knows I'm a special girl that needs a family to see how special I am so they can love me just like she did. Can't wait to meet you! Love, Sasha Sashais located in our foster home in Aurora and also spends time at Hounds Town in Aurora. Story
Kuma is a very energetic, loving dog. Who loves to cuddle and gives hugs. The main problem we have experienced with him is that he is reactive when he sees and is around other dogs. We currently have other dogs in our household, and he seems to be causing them stress as they're older than him. We travel a lot, and we are having trouble finding people who know how to deal with a dog like him. He is potty trained, and he knows how to sit, spin, paw, rollover, heel and place.

Story
Click here for Elvis's Facebook Album March 18: Elvis' dental and neuter are done. He did well, lost 4 teeth and we are doing a biopsy on his potential scrotal tumor. What a sweet boy, that just needed some TLC. With heartworm slow kill, we'll test at 8 months and see where he is at, hopefully he'll be negative by then, but oftentimes it takes longer. We are taking our time with him especially since he is also infected with Ehrlichia, Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Glad he came to IBR otherwise that would have been missed. We are looking for a foster or foster to adopt home for him in the Chicago area with a safe fenced in yard. Heartworm slow kill treatment is super easy and so much easier on the dogs we rescue. Our adoption or foster app can be found at www.helpibr.org March 2025: Elvis was left outside the city jail in a cage in Tompkinsville, KY a few weeks ago. The jail is sometimes used as the local humane society. He was in terrible shape, extremely thin and frightened. We worked for a few weeks to line up transport and in that time it was discovered that Elvis was infected with heartworms and he had a sore on his testicles. The great folks in Kentucky got his vaccinations done and also got him started on heartworm slow kill. In between some nasty weather, and some plane electrical problems, Elvis was driven to Louisville, KY and then flown to the Chicago suburbs by Captain David Tan. His latest exam and bloodwork shows that Elvis is also fighting 3 tick borne diseases- Ehrlichia, Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. We got a closer look at his teeth- which were in terrible shape and Elvis also has an enlarged testicle besides a cyst. This poor dog has suffered some terrible neglect but while we are in the search for a longer term foster, he is being cared for and loved on by our good friends at Tail Gate for Dogs in Elmhurst. As Dr. Rimkunas didn't rule out testicular cancer, I have his neuter and dental set up for March 18th and we could really use some donations to help with his ongoing medical care. We have Paypal at www.illinoisbirddogrescue.org, VENMO with @illinoisbirddogrescue and ZELLE with info@illinoisbirddogrescue.org If you would like to help, please click HERE to submit a foster to adopt home application.
