Story
Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine. If you would like to consider Billie for a member of your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the NW Suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to our area.

Story
Life’s a carnival with Rio - Available for Foster or Adoption in Illinois. Hi everyone, I’m Rio (aka Oreo). I’m a 1-year-old male Pointer mix, weighing in at about 40 pounds of pure fun and joy. I’m neutered, up to date on all my vaccines, and heartworm negative. I get along great with other dogs, I’m calm and respectful with cats, and I’m totally friendly with farm animals like cows, goats, horses, and even chickens. I also love kids, especially the ones who like to play and share snacks. I’m still a puppy at heart and probably one of the goofiest dogs you’ll ever meet. My silly facial expressions and playful personality will make you smile every single day. I’m full of energy, but I also love attention and being near my people. I walk pretty well on a leash and I know how to sit. I’m very food motivated, which makes me a fast learner. Training with me will be fun because I love working for treats. If you're looking for a loyal, silly, happy pup to brighten your world, I might be your guy. Send in your application if you think we belong together. I can’t wait to meet you. ##2525403##

Story
Click here for Mae's Facebook Album August 2025: I was contacted about 2 Pointers that were in need of help in the Benton, Illinois area. I was told they were saved from being killed by a hunting preserve. The whole story is rather vague and I heard there were actually 4 dogs. Mae is a sweet Lemon Pointer about 3-5 years old. She's been bred A LOT, and is a typically loving dog with people. Mae has some dental issues that will need to be addressed when she is spayed. She also has an Umbilical hernia that can also be repaired at that time. Her ears were full of brown crud and a little infected- but she is doing great now. We have also switched her to a lamb based diet now. Mae did test positive for Rocky Mountain spotted fever and she is doing well with antibiotic treatment that is helping her underlying anemia. No doubt she is feeling a lot better! If you would like to help, please click HERE to submit a foster to adopt home application. If you interested in adoption, please click HERE to submit an adoption application. You can also call Lisa@ 630-694-1359
