Story
Rylee is an older puppy who just needs a little time to show you his true colors. He can be a bit shy at first and likes to take things at his own pace while he gets comfortable in a new environment. But once he warms up, his personality really shines—he’s playful, energetic, and loves attention just as much as any outgoing pup. Underneath that initial hesitation is a fun-loving dog who enjoys pets, playtime, and being part of the action. Rylee is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will give him the time he needs to settle in and build confidence. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion who’s always ready for adventures, walks, and plenty of bonding time. If you’re willing to give him that chance to open up, Rylee will reward you with the same joyful, energetic spirit that makes dogs like him so special.

Story
Meet Dean!  Dean is a 1-year-old Pointer/hound mix with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He’s very much still a puppy at heart — energetic, curious, and always ready for his next adventure. Dean is currently working on basic manners like sit and “nice,” and he’s learning quickly with treats and consistency. One of Dean’s absolute favorite things in the world is cuddling. If you’re hoping for personal space during movie night… Dean may not be your guy. He will happily climb into your lap, shower you with kisses, and then flop over for belly rubs, channeling some serious Puss in Boots puppy-eyes energy. When he’s done loving on you, he’ll settle in close by — or sprawl out dramatically on the couch or bed. A tidy house and supervision will help set Dean up for success since anything left within reach is fair game.  Dean loves other dogs and enjoys playing and cuddling with them. If one dog goes on an adventure, Dean will happily tag along — and come back together. Cats are still a question mark; he wants to play, but may be a bit much for cats who prefer lounging and being admired from a distance. Dean would thrive in an active home that can provide exercise, structure, training, and lots of affection. In return, you’ll get a hilarious, loving, loyal companion who believes there’s no such thing as too much togetherness. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining pup who will keep you laughing and loved, Dean may be your perfect match   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $250 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Story
Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine. If you would like to consider Billie for a member of your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the NW Suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to our area.

Story
We adopted Hank in 2020 from Hinsdale Humane Society when we were living in the city. Since then our family has grown with three little children and Hank struggles to leave toddler toys and milk sippy cups left alone around our house. Hank is very sweet and loves going on walks, running in our backyard, and laying in the sun. We’d love to find Hank a new home where he can be at ease with lower energy & less little people surrounding him.
