Story
Hi, I'm Raina. Thanks for taking a look at me! I know my cute face is irresistible, but remember that I will take up lots of your time and attention while I grow into an awesome adult dog. Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things I will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in my mouth are all part of the puppy experience. And, be prepared for the time and money for frequent trips to the vet during the first few months so I can get up to date on my boosters and vaccines. But most of all, be prepared for all of the LOVE, puppy kisses, and joy I will bring into your life. If you are up for the challenge and the fun, stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Story
Sammy is a sweet, 8 year old Pointer Mix, possibly a bit of a Lab Mix, estimated to be 45 lbs. Prior to joining BAARK, Sammy was bounced around until he reached his foster home. It takes a bit of time for Sammy to warm up to people he does not know, but once he gets to know you, he is your best friend! He enjoys being petted, and snuggling next to his person. He loves to chew bones and play with (tear apart!!) soft toys. He is not too fond of sharing his toys, however, and prefers to hide them when not playing. Sammy is afraid of loud noises and can be startled by quick movements, as well. He gets long with most dogs, but would definitely do best with a female dog friend. He’d enjoy being an only dog too. A family with older children or an all-adult home would be great, but smaller children might scare Sammy. He is housebroken, and can be left free-roaming when home alone. Sammy is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, has had recent bloodwork, is heartworm negative and is on year-round heartworm prevention. He is also neutered and microchipped. If you would like to add Sammy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Story
Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine. If you would like to consider Billie for a member of your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the NW Suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to our area.

Story
Click here for Cody's Facebook Album Cody is a Pointer (possibly mixed with a little Brittany a few generations ago) and he was in an over-crowded Southern Illinois shelter. I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Cody and I am so glad we got him into our program. Whatever his life was, whoever starved him, Cody is the just the epitome of everything we LOVE in our Pointer rescues. He is so friendly, happy and outgoing. If you will allow him- he will give you a Pointer hug, and one of my favorite things about this breed is that affectionate gesture. He needs to shed out some of the discolored hair on his fur, but otherwise he looks in good shape. There is a chunk of his ear missing and a little calcification on his front paw- but it doesn't seem to bother him.ern Illinois shelter. Cody is adjusting well to his new foster home. He loves everybody and is wiggly as can be. He is also super affectionate. His foster mom is spoiling him rotten and in proper Pointer fashion, he has already made himself comfy on the couch. He is also working on cage and house training. Cody is 3-4 years old and probably weighs 45- 50lbs. We are looking for a Foster to Adopt home in the Chicago area since he will still need to be neutering in a few weeks. Potential new families will absolutely need to have a safe fenced in yard (no invisible fences). Please give Lisa a call at 630-694-1359 if you are interested in Foster to Adopt.
