Story
Click here for Ruth's Facebook Album ***NEW PICTURES ADDED!!*** December 2023: Rue has waited 17 months to find the perfect home. I know is out there but it has to be in the Chicago area and Pointer experience is a must. She is a super fun dog, but she does need playful dog companions and she needs a romp at the dog park occasionally. She is not easy to walk but she might be fun for a runner. She does need a home with a privacy fence, I don't think I would trust her with an invisible fence. In the home, Rue can be mischievous, but she is super cuddly too. November 2023: Congratulations to Rue aka IBR's White Lightning BCAT! Rue has been busy running in Fast CAT competitions and finished her title in 6 runs and is now ranked 6th in the country for Pointers competing in this event AND she is the fastest female with an average speed of just over 26 miles per hour! SHE LOVES FAST CAT-- so my goal right now is to find her a great home where she can continue in this sport and ideally she would be an awesome dog to train in Agility. Surely there is a perfect home waiting for a dog like Rue -- to help her continue to be the bestest Pointer ever!!! 09-2023: LOTS of new photos of Rue in her Facebook album. I can't believe she's been in foster care over a year and I haven't found the perfect adopter. She is STUNNING- athletic and super playful with other dogs. The best home for Ruthie will have a decent sized fenced in yard and a young playful companion. Her potential adopter has to be educated in the field bred Pointer breed- especially since she runs way to big off leash. What's next for Rue-- hopefully some FastCAT competition. May as well find out how fast she is in mile per hour with this new fun AKC event. 6-2023: We are looking for an active home for Miss Ruthie with a playful companion. She is very food and toy motivated and I really think she would especially enjoy taking some Agility classes as she can jump over high barriers and she is fearless in the field. She was doing great at the local dog park until she jumped over the small fence into the parking lot-- STINKER, so the only dog parks she can go to must have at least a 5 foot fence. She's a riot at the dog park however-- she will chase birds and butterflies and we had been working on her running with the pack as she dogs run big and independent. She LOVES to play with the other dogs and the only challenge I am having is trying to keep weight on her. Ruthie is cage and house trained and she can be a couch potato when she has enough exercise. She's been waiting almost a year to find the perfect adopter-- she so deserves a loving home. Since Ruthie is a flight risk, we would prefer an adult only home and Pointer experience is preferred. I also listed her under the prefix GSP, because a GSP enthusiast would appreciate her good looks, but Ruthie is 100% American Field Bred "English" Pointer.. Ruthie is also a little more on the emotional side similar to her Continental cousins. She is also HIGH energy when she plays outside, but can settle down and be a couch potato inside. Off leash, that's where the comparisons end as she is a bigger running Field bred Pointer. The last time we went to the fenced in dog park- she ran out 200 and 400 yards or more. These dogs were actually bred to compete in horseback field trials, but Ruthie would do best being adopted by an active family that can let her run at the dog park occasionally but she really needs a young playful companion for her happiness. She is cage and house trained. Ruthie would also benefit from a structured obedience class. With a good quota of exercise everyday, Ruthie is going to make the best pet and companion. A fenced in yard is non- negotiable and NO HUNTING HOMES!!! 8-7-2022: Here's our new baby lemon Pointer-- Baby Ruth. She is one of many Pointers dumped by a breeder in Trenton, TN to the local shelter in Gibson County. She is about 7 months old and is around 35lbs. She is very thin and her foster family is feeding her 3 times a day to try and help her gain much needed weight. We are also worming her and also treating her with antibiotics for suspected tick borne disease. While Ruth is a playful, confident puppy, we are only looking for a pet foster to adopt home in the Chicago area. Potential adopters also need to have a safe traditional fenced in yard. She would also benefit in a home with a playful doggie companion. She is cat safe. Ruth was going to be killed in the over crowded shelter she was in and we are grateful to Pilot Bob for helping fly her in to the Chicago suburbs on July 25th. Pointers are the best dogs-- have so much joy and personality and we saved this little baby in time before she suffered from shelter life or any training abuse. Story
Click here for Cody's Facebook Album **UPDATE 2-12** I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Cody and I am so glad we got him into our program. Whatever his life was, whoever starved him, Cody is the just the epitome of everything we LOVE in our Pointer rescues. He is so friendly, happy and outgoing. If you will allow him- he will give you a Pointer hug, and one of my favorite things about this breed is that affectionate gesture. He needs to shed out some of the discolored hair on his fur, but otherwise he looks in good shape. There is a chunk of his ear missing and a little calcification on his front paw- but it doesn't seem to bother him. His blood work is 2-16 and his neuter thereafter and then he will be available to be adopted. Cody is a Pointer (possibly mixed with a little Brittany a few generations ago) and he was in an over-crowded Southern Illinois shelter. Cody is adjusting well to his new foster home. He loves everybody and is wiggly as can be. He is also super affectionate. His foster mom is spoiling him rotten and in proper Pointer fashion, he has already made himself comfy on the couch. He is also working on cage and house training. Cody is 3-4 years old and probably weighs 45- 50lbs. We are looking for a Foster to Adopt home in the Chicago area since he will still need to be neutering in a few weeks. Potential new families will absolutely need to have a safe fenced in yard (no invisible fences). Please give Lisa a call at 630-694-1359 if you are interested in Foster to Adopt.
