Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.** Holstein is an approximately 5 year old handsome guy who loves everybody & thinks he is a lap dog! He tips the scale at 90+lbs so ideally he will need a home with dog savvy kids. He has mastered basic commands and walks well on a leash. During the day he is crated about 4hours and spends the rest of his time socializing with his humans & canine friends. He would love a forever home with a fenced yard, and a canine companion or two wouldn't hurt. Holstein is a great companion that can offer a family lots of love! Holstein’s adoption fee is $350 - which includes core vaccinations (age appropriate), microchip & spay/neuter at one of our contracted vets (if applicable) *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. Story
Click here for Ruth's Facebook Album ***NEW PICTURES ADDED!!*** 6-2023: We are looking for an active home for Miss Ruthie with a playful companion. She is very food and toy motivated and I really think she would especially enjoy taking some Agility classes as she can jump over high barriers and she is fearless in the field. She was doing great at the local dog park until she jumped over the small fence into the parking lot-- STINKER, so the only dog parks she can go to must have at least a 5 foot fence. She's a riot at the dog park however-- she will chase birds and butterflies and we had been working on her running with the pack as she dogs run big and independent. She LOVES to play with the other dogs and the only challenge I am having is trying to keep weight on her. Ruthie is cage and house trained and she can be a couch potato when she has enough exercise. She's been waiting almost a year to find the perfect adopter-- she so deserves a loving home. Since Ruthie is a flight risk, we would prefer an adult only home and Pointer experience is preferred. I also listed her under the prefix GSP, because a GSP enthusiast would appreciate her good looks, but Ruthie is 100% American Field Bred "English" Pointer.. Ruthie is also a little more on the emotional side similar to her Continental cousins. She is also HIGH energy when she plays outside, but can settle down and be a couch potato inside. Off leash, that's where the comparisons end as she is a bigger running Field bred Pointer. The last time we went to the fenced in dog park- she ran out 200 and 400 yards or more. These dogs were actually bred to compete in horseback field trials, but Ruthie would do best being adopted by an active family that can let her run at the dog park occasionally but she really needs a young playful companion for her happiness. She is cage and house trained. Ruthie would also benefit from a structured obedience class. With a good quota of exercise everyday, Ruthie is going to make the best pet and companion. A fenced in yard is non- negotiable and NO HUNTING HOMES!!! 8-7-2022: Here's our new baby lemon Pointer-- Baby Ruth. She is one of many Pointers dumped by a breeder in Trenton, TN to the local shelter in Gibson County. She is about 7 months old and is around 35lbs. She is very thin and her foster family is feeding her 3 times a day to try and help her gain much needed weight. We are also worming her and also treating her with antibiotics for suspected tick borne disease. While Ruth is a playful, confident puppy, we are only looking for a pet foster to adopt home in the Chicago area. Potential adopters also need to have a safe traditional fenced in yard. She would also benefit in a home with a playful doggie companion. She is cat safe. Ruth was going to be killed in the over crowded shelter she was in and we are grateful to Pilot Bob for helping fly her in to the Chicago suburbs on July 25th. Pointers are the best dogs-- have so much joy and personality and we saved this little baby in time before she suffered from shelter life or any training abuse. Story
Click here for Xuma's Facebook Album September 2023: Xuma continues to be a complete JOY in foster care. She has so much personality and has blossomed in my home. The weekend of September 23/24, Xoomie Xoom Xoom will be running in her first hunt test and I actually hope to end the weekend with an AKC Junior Hunter Title. Her AKC PAL registered name is "IBR's Life if the Party", because she is always in the middle of any play activity when she is outside with her buddies. After that and while she is still in foster care, we will be doing some FastCAT competition. My foster dogs are busy when they are with me. A dog like Xuma that came in so sickly with Lyme disease with sores all over her body and some aches and pains from the old car accident being helped by chiropractic care, is a testament to what we do in my rescue. Getting her back out into the field to do what she was bred to do is one of my favorite goals while in my care. Xuma, (pronounced Zuma), is a petite, beautiful Orange and White Pointer originally from London, Ontario, Canada. She is out of French Pointer lines and was bought my a man in the Chicago area in 2018. She was sadly hit by a car in 2021 and has some nerve damage and some movent issues we are having worked on by our local chiropractor. We were asked to help rehome Miss Xu. Xuma also tested positive for Lyme disease and while she is being treated for that, she will need a conscientious adopter that can take her to our vet in the Chicagoland area annually to help monitor her health. Xuma aka XuXu (ZuZu) is a complete JOY!! She runs like a maniac in spite of her back end weakness and she LOVES to play with other dogs. She is also a squirrel hunter and will point them on a walk! Xuma also loves to run in the field and completely reliable at the dog park-- handling like a dream- and was hunted over in her past life, although her health is priority and we are looking for a pet home right now. If I don't find a home for her in the next few months, I will be running her in local hunt test for fun. While Xuma was kept as an outdoor dog, she house trained quickly and she is also content in a cage in the air conditioning when I leave the home. She is cat safe and I would like her to find a home with another playful dog. Xuma has an under-bite so she can never go into the show ring and her spay and a little dental is coming up soon. I do have her entered into a Fast CAT event in late July and that should be a lot of fun. Any potential adopters need to live in the Chicago area and a fenced in yard is mandatory for her safety.
