Story
I'm 53lbs, and I am seeking my forever home! Adoption Donation: $450 Meet Mia! This sweet, friendly Pointer/Boxer mix has a warm and loving personality. Mia enjoys being around people and is happy to greet just about anyone she meets, making her a joy to have by your side. She is house-trained and does well with other dogs and kids, making her a wonderful fit for an active but balanced home. Mia has a bit of extra energy and enthusiasm—especially when meeting new people—but she settles nicely and enjoys both playtime and quiet moments. When the day winds down, Mia truly loves to cuddle and soak up affection. She is looking for a home that will appreciate her loving nature and give her the chance to continue growing into a confident, happy companion. In return, she’ll offer loyalty, love, and plenty of sweet moments. All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. An application is required to view our adoptable pets. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are not put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. We also cannot guarantee the ages of our adoptable animals or how large puppies will be when fully grown. We look forward to seeing you soon! Story
Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine. If you would like to consider Billie for a member of your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the NW Suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to our area.

Story
Eleanora (Nora) is a sweet, soulful ~1-year-old girl who was pulled from a kill shelter and is now officially living her glow-up era. She’s still putting some weight back on and it’s clear she’s already been a mama, but despite whatever life threw at her before, this girl is pure love. She is: 💖 A certified kiss-giver 🐶 Obsessed with other dogs (friends = YES please) 🫶 Gentle, affectionate, and so grateful for every bit of attention 🥹 Full of love and just wants to be close to her people Eleanora has the softest eyes and the kindest soul. She’s the type of dog who leans into you for pets, follows you around just to be near you, and looks at you like you hung the moon. Eleanora is ready for a fresh start, a full belly, and a forever home where she can finally be someone’s baby instead of surviving on her own. If you would like to meet this dog, please call or text Lorri at 630-659-8814. The adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming
