She is doing well adjusting to northern life, her foster shares, “Maggye is a spirited gal who is the life of the party. She can be your go-to buddy for hiking and activities- the possibilities are endless. Maggye would make a great addition to any home who’s excited to continue her training and show her the world!”Maggye is a medium-high energy gal who loves to play fetch and romp around the yard but then is ready to cuddle on the couch by her humans. She gets along well with other dogs and is still learning to take cues, so she’d be fine with another canine sibling in the home with a bit of space and time to get to know them. She has been neutral with cats, so she’d likely be fine with a dog-savvy cat in the home. As Maggye is a typical puppy and learning boundaries, she would likely be fine with older, dog-savvy kids. She is a smart girl, as she knows several commands including ‘sit’ and ‘place’. Maggye is crate trained and housetrained. She can be crated occasionally in the day after sufficient exercise, and sleeps in there overnight without any issues. Maggye is housetrained with no accidents in the past few weeks and will continue to do well when taken out on a regular structure and routine. She is improving on her leash skills and enjoys her daily walks. Maggye will thrive with a patient owner who can uphold structure and boundaries to set her up for success as she navigates her new environment.Maggye’s zest for life and beautiful green eyes will have you falling in love in no time- is she the one for you? Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. Story
Goldie is a sweet and shy mom. One day, she just showed up outside her finder's house (we believed that she was abandoned because she was pregnant). A few weeks after her finder (who is Goldie's foster mom now) took her into her care, mama Goldie had four puppies who are also Sandy Paws dogs. Goldie is a chill dog. Most of the time, she just likes to lay on any soft bed and stares at her human. She is potty and crate-trained. This is what her foster mom says about Goldie: "adventurous, sweet, loving, playful, and goofy at times, craves affection, loves belly rubs, is energetic, gets along with large and small dogs." We don't know how she behaves with cats but the plan is to cat-test her soon. There are no children in her current foster home but we will kid-test Goldie soon as well.  Goldie is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. (puppies under the age of 6 months may not be sterilized prior to adoption, if this is the case your adoption coordinator will discuss the process with you). To adopt or learn more about: you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, visit our website: WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM ** PLEASE READ: If a dog/puppy is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. In some cases this dog may be pending an adoption already, and their profile has not been updated yet. Please note, SPR does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated otherwise. All breeds listed are educated best estimates by transferring shelter staff, our volunteers or our vets. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them the All American MUTT. Our dogs are rescued from various situations (kill-shelters, owner surrenders, strays, etc). It is most likely that both their parents were strays and mixes of some sort. If you are interested in this dog, you MUST submit an application. Sandy Paws Rescue does not a have a public shelter in Mass, so there is no building you can visit without an appointment. Our dogs live in private foster homes or boarding kennels down south until adopted, and foster care homes through out MV, Cape Cod and other parts of MA. A majority of our dogs are adopted/spoken for prior to transport and release from state mandated isolation. To learn more about our rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of FAQ’s on our website at WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM **The FIRST step in adopting an animal from our rescue is to submit a completed adoption application. Story
Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper introsGood with cats: NoGood with kids: Kids 16 +Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesLilac is a sweet, lazy girl who is looking for a quiet home where she can play some fetch and then curl up in the dog bed and take a nap (her two favorite things). Lilac is wonderful with other dogs when properly introduced, and she loves to play. She would love a fenced yard to romp in. She can be leash reactive to new dogs, and though she has improved with training, this will always be something she needs to work on. For this reason, proper intros are a must with her.  She is also ecollar trained. so her perfect home would continue this training with her. She excels with structure and routine.Where Lilac still struggles greatly is with meeting new people in the home. Outside the home, and even a the vet, she is generally fine. When people that she does not know very very well come into the home, Lilac should be crated, leashed, or muzzled. She needs to be slowly introduced to new people, but once she gets to know you very very well, she's all in and is the kissiest, snuggliest girl.  She is even very sweet to pretty much everyone while muzzled, so that's an easy fix to keep her safe.  When people she does not know come into the home, she can get vocal,  but when introduced while muzzled she does fine.  Because of her reactivity to new people, a single family home is the best fit for her. She would not do well in an apartment. Lilac has had a long road, and while she has come a long way, she is very much still a work in progress. With the right family she will do just fine.Lilac's issues have happened in the past when her intros to new people coming into the home were not controlled.  So I can't emphasize enough that she needs to take it slow with new people :) But she will reward you for sure once you get to know her.Age: 9 yearsWeight: 45 lbsPlease Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted.
