Story
adoption donation : $699 weight 40 lbs  Age 2 years       Sweet Stubby was found wandering alone in a rural part of Mississippi, and taken in by an elderly man who fell in love with this gentle boy but couldn’t keep him. He called Wags for help and the rescue took him in, The man’s grandson named him Stubby for his little short legs!     Stubby is a sweet boy, he is gentle and gets along fine with all the dogs at the rescue. He was recently neutered and has all his vaccinations and is ready for a loving home. Stubby absolutely loves to be with his people, he follows the director of the rescue all over the property, his little tail wagging. He is gentle with children and just a great family dog. Stubby is house trained at Wags but like any rescue may need a refresher while he adjusted to a new home.   Stubby is ready to come to the northeast on Saturday, March 8. He will make a wonderful member of the family.       Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs.  Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bogey (MS) is a male Pointer mix estimated to be 1.5 years old at the time of intake in July 2024. Bogey is up to date on core vaccinations and is microchipped. He will be neutered prior to joining his forever home unless  there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Bogey is good with people and other dogs. This big, goofy, silly mush of a dog loves to be wherever his people are. He  adores every dog he’s ever met--big ones, little ones, even the ones who wish he would go away! Bogey is not a fan of being crated but hasn't destroyed anything (except for stealing food) while roaming free. This handsome, fabulous boy is looking for his happy ever after with his forever family. If Bogey's path to happiness leads to your front door, please apply online to adopt Bogey (MS) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 10:34 am

Story
Spot is a very handsome 5 year old pointer/hound mix. Spot was being trained to be an emotional support dog, and although he made great progress... he found squirrels or other dogs on a walk a little too exciting. He is very energetic and will love a hiking and jogging family. He loves his family and gives lots of kisses and snuggles. Spot knows basic commands and is neutered, totally housebroken and up to date on vaccines. He will be very happy to be your one and only! If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website at www.ny-petrescue.org. Only applications submitted directly to Petrescue will be considered.

Story
Charlie - 6 months & 42lbs (as of 4/5/25) Pointer Mix Neutered Expected to be about 50lbs Full Grown Our Team Says: Charlie needs a home in the burbs. He REALLY loves other dogs and would do really well in a home with another pup :)  This puppy is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Parent Says: "Hey ya’ll! Let me introduce Charlie, our southern gentleman from Tennessee! He’s a homebody and a snuggle bug. He enjoys quality time with his foster siblings, playing with his toys, cuddling up to a movie (secret life of pets.) He really is the most loving dog ever! He will shower you with kisses and hugs! The best part, he loves to nap with you! Now that he has been with us for about 5 weeks, he has opened himself up! He is your typical high energy dog that needs to be kept busy with toys, redirecting, and with enrichment toys/puzzles. He is a little mouthy but easily redirected and loves putting anything and everything in his mouth, so it is very important to keep an eye on him. He is such a goofy boy, clumsy, loving, loyal, eager to please, and just melts on your lap! He doesn’t realize his size but to him he’s just a five-pound chihuahua! He’s turned into quite the lap dog. We have come to learn that Charlie is not familiarize with the outside world, cars, people, certain household items, doorways and stairs. We have beenworking on getting him accustomed to all these new things. He’s been doing great going so far but still needs helps with walks, loud noises, people, and being outside. He does wonderful with his foster siblings and meeting new dogs! He has taken social cues from his sister mochi and is learning every day. He would thrive in a household with another pet sibling and a quiet area or a backyard. We start the morning off with a potty break and getting him used to sounds and people, then breakfast! Followed by some teeth brushing, usually around 7-8 a.m. He does sleep in and tries to fight you on potty time. He keeps himself entertain with his toys and playing with resident pets. Around noon he takes his second potty break of the day and an afternoon snack of kibble because he’s a growing boy! Shortly after he will put himself in his crate for an afternoon nap. Around 6-7 p.m. he usually has dinner and a potty break followed by his last potty break of the night around 10-11 p.m.Charlie is still getting used to certain things such as TV’s, doorways, stairs, people, certain noises, and being outside. Everything is new to him! And scary.Getting him outside has been challenging, but as long as he has a furry friend to teach him the ropes, he will be fine. He still needs help with walks and loud noises. He just needs patience and a confident handler that can put him at ease and preferably a quiet neighborhood (ideally the burbs).Charlie is potty trained and does his business outside if you’re on top of his schedule! No accidents, just if you keep up with his potty schedule. He has also mastered crate training, takes his meals in his crate and sleeps in his crate. He does not bark when left alone in his crate and sleeps soundly! He knows sit and stay and very treat motivated! He’s very intelligent and eager to please. He would make a great companion and friend." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug Level-high Comfy with strangers?- Fine with meeting new people but not particularly interested, kind of shy in busy social situations like a gathering or a packed day in the park. Once he is inside he will shower them with kisses. He just needs to be in his safe space. Good with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision)- Yes for 12 and up -- may be a little energetic or a little skittish, best with older children that can be extra gentle or that are big enough not to get accidentally knocked down Good with Other Dogs?- Yes -- Good with all other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other canines Mouthy Behavior?- Is either still in the puppy stage or was never trained to not be mouthy. Wants to put everything in their mouth. Tries to chew on your hands when playing or needs attention, grabs the leash with its mouth, loves to gnaw on your personal belongings. He is easily corrected with a toy. Leash Manners?- Getting the Hang of it – Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in its life but he is figuring it out. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction. Okay in the city? Sort of -- Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue) Jumping on People to Say Hi?- Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited.Stops with correction. Separation Anxiety? -Low – Completely fine being left home alone. Doesn’t cry or do anything shitty whenyou leave the apartment or house. Crate training? -Yep/mostly – Seems comfortable in the crate, may whine a little at first but settles pretty quickly. We use the crate when we leave the pup alone and/or at night Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Hiiii, I’m Danny, it’s nice to meet you! I’m a fun, friendly and sometimes goofy 3 year old, 49 lb. boy who loves making new friends! I’m so good with people that I’m used as the ‘demo dog’ when training new volunteers. I know my manners so greet each person with a smile and tail wag, and then roll over for a belly rub! Can you say, ‘awwwww’? I love being out on walks and am mostly good on leash. Sometimes if I see or smell something that needs investigating I might pull a bit. I was surrendered by my family when they had a change of circumstances and could no longer take care of me but I’m not letting that get me down. These are things I love: people, doggie play dates, long walks, toys, couch cuddles, learning new commands, and treats. I’m smart, motivated, and ready to be part of a family again. I’m also neutered, up to date with appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and an all around good boy! I’d love to meet you so please complete an application to meet me Copy this link and paste into your browser and fill out : https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POSH/Dog

Story
Woof (Hi)... My name is Lita! I am an adorable little girl that packs a big punch! I am super athletic; I run, leap and bounce everywhere I go. I am super fast and definitely need someplace that I can safely run around. I am house trained and am ok with living in small spaces, like an apartment, as long as you take me somewhere to play! I love to play with toys - I will collect them all, while I am running around. I am also very sweet, but shy at first. Once we get to know each other, I will be your best friend! I am good with other dogs - even great big ones! I am getting pretty good with the house cat here, too! Please take me home, so I can love you, and be loved! I am currently living in Puerto Rico, but there is a flight that I can take on December 31st to the New York area, and then we can start our New Year together! ***When inquiring about one of our beautiful pups, please be sure to include your phone number. We reply to everyone, but some of our responses are unfortunately being marked as spam, so be sure to check there. You can also message us at 787-456-6746. Thank you!
