Story
Spot - 2 years, 57lbs, English Hound Mix, Spayed  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Their Foster Family Says: "Spot is an absolute love bug—friendly, curious, affectionate, and convinced that every human she meets is a new best friend! Her favorite thing is cuddling with her foster mom and dad after a nice long walk, though she’s also a big fan of balls, chew toys, and stuffed animals (which don’t tend to stay stuffed for long!). At home, Spot is a total shadow who happily follows her foster parents everywhere—even to the bathroom—and starts each morning by waking them up with kisses. She loves getting outside and exploring, but leash manners are definitely still a work in progress, especially when an exciting bird or squirrel catches her eye! She’ll need a patient, committed family who is willing to work consistently with her on leash skills and continue reinforcing her basic training. A semi-active home that enjoys walks, playtime, and plenty of quality time together would be a great fit for this sweet, playful girl. Above all, Spot loves being with her people and will reward their patience with endless affection, cuddles, and devotion." Level of dog ownership experience required:INTERMEDIATE – This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy Level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  TOLERANCE TO CITYAdjusting to the city – Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well in quiet areas and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue). Would prefer a home in a calmer part of the city or the suburbs.  POTTY TRAININGYes – Few or no accidents  COMFORT LEVEL WITH STRANGERSSocial butterfly – Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, loves anyone who will stop to say hello.  BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN (always requires adult supervision)Maybe for age 12 and up – Is either big and energetic (okay with kids big enough not to get knocked down) or a little skittish (could be comfortable with older children that can be extra gentle)  SOCIAL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGSYes – Good with most other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other canines RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER ANIMALS (cats, small pets, etc.)Not sure – Wants to chase squirrels and birds so may not be a good match for a home with cats, rabbits, etc.  MOUTHY BEHAVIORWorking on it – Is respectful of hands, feet, etc. but likes to chew on things they’re not supposed to like shoes, furniture, etc.  SEPARATION ANXIETY (Please leave your foster dog home alone every day for at least 20 minutes.) Adjusting – Might cry for a few minutes when you first leave the house but settles pretty quickly and has no problem being left alone otherwise.  LEASH MANNERSWTF is a leash – Pulls hard. Zig zags like crazy. Has no idea how to walk on a leash or doesn’t have outside privileges yet (too young) getting better every day!!  CUDDLE BUG LEVELHigh – Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time  JUMPING ON PEOPLE TO SAY HELLO. Listens to correction – Only jumps on people they know when really excited, stops with correction. CRATE TRAININGNot at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range.  Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2851590##

Story
Meet Sadie! Sadie is a 4-month-old, 20-pound Pointer mix puppy with a big personality, a playful spirit, and an even bigger heart! When Sadie first arrived, she was a shy girl who needed a little time to feel safe. But she’s making HUGE strides every day! She’s become so comfortable with her foster family, and now she greets us with her tail wagging so hard that her whole body wiggles! True to her Pointer nature, Sadie loves to run, jump, chase, and play. Balls and animal plush toys are among her favorites, and she’s always happy to settle in with a good bone or bully stick. But don’t let all that puppy energy fool you—Sadie is also a world-class cuddler! She’ll happily leap right into your lap for snuggles or bring her favorite chew over to enjoy while relaxing at your feet. Sadie has been wonderful with the kids in her foster home and loves playing with them. She’s also dog-friendly! She’s been doing fantastic with her house manners and hasn’t had a single accident in her foster home. She also sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. She may fuss for a few minutes when first settling in, but then she quiets down and sleeps peacefully until morning! Sadie is still learning about the big, exciting world around her and can be a little nervous in new places at first, but she’s doing great with gentle exposure and encouragement. And if she hears an unfamiliar sound, you might catch her doing her classic Pointer move: freezing in place and standing perfectly still while she investigates what she’s hearing. It’s pretty adorable! Sadie will thrive with a family who understands that confidence takes time and is willing to help her continue blossoming. In return, you’ll get a fun, affectionate, playful puppy who will keep you laughing, join you for adventures, and then curl up in your lap when it’s time to unwind. Sadie is learning to be brave, one day at a time, and she’s ready to find a family who will love her every step of the way. Could that be you? Sadie is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. Her adoption fee is $575. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet our active, happy boy Loki!! Loki is a male pointer mix around 5 years old. He is incredibly toy driven and loves playing fetch or running around the yard on his own chasing a ball. Loki was rescued in 2022 when a family member was discovered to be deathly allergic to dogs. Loki is good with people and has an extremely high prey drive so he would do best in a home with no other animals or younger children.

Story
Meet Broadway!Broadway is a 6-month-old Pointer mix with a striking black-and-white coat, a growing frame, and a bright future ahead of him. At 36 pounds, this handsome young pup is discovering that life can be bigger, richer, and more exciting than he ever imagined.Having come from very small living quarters, Broadway is still learning that it's okay to explore his surroundings and embrace new experiences. The sights and sounds of the outdoors can be a lot to take in, but he approaches each day with growing confidence and curiosity. With patience and encouragement, he's making wonderful progress as he learns about the world around him.Like any young dog, Broadway is also working on his manners. He's learning basic commands and practicing his leash-walking skills, and one thing that makes training especially fun is how food-motivated he is! A tasty treat and a little praise go a long way with this smart boy, making him an eager student who enjoys learning.Broadway has already made a few canine friends at the shelter and enjoys spending time with other dogs. He also loves meeting people and is always happy to make a new human friend. Because every dog friendship is unique, any resident dog in his future home will need to meet Broadway before adoption to ensure a good match. This sweet, affectionate puppy is looking for a family that will continue helping him build confidence while celebrating every milestone along the way. With his friendly nature, trainability, and willingness to learn, Broadway has all the ingredients to become an incredible companion. If you're searching for a loyal best friend who is blossoming into the dog he was always meant to be, Broadway may be waiting just for you. If you are interested in meeting Broadway, please complete an Interest Form. An adoption counselor will contact you to schedule an appointment.October 16, 2026, 6:54 pm
