Meet Rip — A Sweet Boy Learning What It Means to Be Home.Rip is a handsome shy Pointer/Terrier mix with a gentle heart and so much love to give. After spending time roaming with his brother, Rebel (also available for adoption) Rip is discovering just how wonderful life can be in a safe, loving home.A little shy at first, Rip is coming out of his shell more every day as he learns that people can be trusted. He is submissive with and absolutely loves playing with other dogs and has done wonderfully with the dogs in his foster home. He is a big fan of the foster’s grandchild. Kids, dogs, and playtime? Rip is in!Rip is learning to walk on a leash and is making progress with house training, although he still has an occasional accident. Rip is such a good boy in the car, sitting quietly in his seat and enjoying the ride without bouncing around. Unfortunately, this sweet boy does tend to get carsick, possibly due to nerves. The good news is that with a little anti-nausea medication before a recent trip to the vet, he did wonderfully!Rip also does well in his crate when given regular potty breaks, although he may have an accident if left for too long. He would be happiest in a home where someone is around more often and can provide him with a consistent routine and plenty of opportunities to go outside. After everything he has been through, Rip is simply learning the basics of being a house dog—and he’s doing his best. He is a dear boy who would love a patient family who will continue teaching him and give him time to build confidence. A home with another playful dog or children could be a wonderful fit for this sweet, playful boy.Rip has already learned that being safe feels good. While their adoption donations are often reduced, their veterinary costs are typically much higher.IMPORTANT INFORMATIONPaws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England. Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
