Story
Meet me at PawSafe, 348 Old Colony Rd, Eastford CT Sassy’s story began tangled—literally. Found wandering as a stray, this petite pup seemed like she'd just stepped out of a grooming salon… until we got closer. Beneath that deceiving fluff was a body trapped under a solid wall of matting. Her ears were weighed down with hardened fur, and the matting around her rear was so severe it prevented her from going to the bathroom properly. But the moment we began shaving her down, she let out the biggest relief—physically and, we think, emotionally too. And through it all? Sassy was a gem. No growling, no snapping—just trust in the hands trying to help her. She’s been nothing but sweet and cooperative with every person she's met, and her foster mom says she’s a total sweetheart with kids, too. Sassy’s happiest when she's curled up near her person, soaking in all the attention she’s missed for far too long. But… Sassy has a non-negotiable: she’s a one-dog show. Dogs? No thanks. Cats? Also hard pass. Whether it’s a product of past trauma or just part of her queen-bee personality, Sassy wants to be your one and only. In her foster home, she’s thriving—as long as the other pets keep their distance. Sassy’s past was tangled, but her future is looking bright. If you’re seeking a devoted, pint-sized shadow who thinks people are the best thing ever (and doesn’t want to share you), Sassy’s ready to rule your heart and your lap

Story
Meet me at PawSafe, 348 Old Colony Rd, Eastford CT Meet Wolfman 🐺 Don’t let the name fool you—this Pomeranian mix is more teddy bear than wild beast. Rescued from the same hoarding case as Oakley, Twix and several others in our care now, Wolfman’s still figuring out the world outside that crowded, chaotic home. At just about a year or two old, he’s shy and unsure, but you can see it in his eyes—he wants to be brave. Every day is a new chance to learn that people can be kind, laps can be safe, and belly rubs are pretty amazing. Wolfman’s perfect home? Somewhere quiet and patient, with a person or family who understands that love at his pace is the best kind. Give him time to adjust, and he’ll become the kind of loyal companion who stays close, watches your every move, and makes you feel like a hero just for being gentle.

Story
Meet me at PawSafe, 348 Old Colony Rd, Eastford CT Malcom is ready to feel good in his own fur again 🐾 At around 3 years old, Malcom has already been through it. Rescued from a severe hoarding situation, he came to us painfully matted—his coat knotted all the way to the skin and covering his eyes so he could barely see. It was uncomfortable, limiting, and no way for a dog to live. Thanks to a kindhearted vet team at Stafford Vet Center, Malcom’s now sporting a fresh shave and a clean slate—but his best look is still ahead of him. Despite his rough start, Malcom has a quiet resilience. He’s cautiously curious and slowly learning that hands can be kind, homes can be calm, and love doesn’t have to be chaotic. A gentle, patient family will go a long way in helping him bloom. His full fluff will grow back in time—and when it does, he won’t just look amazing. He’ll feel amazing, too: safe, loved, and finally home. ✂️✨🐶

Story
Meet me at PawSafe, 348 Old Colony Rd, Eastford CT Benji’s fresh start begins now ✨ This 2-year-old Pomeranian/Papillon mix may be sporting a new haircut, but underneath it all, he’s still just a sweet soul hoping someone sees his potential. Rescued from the same hoarding situation as the rest of his crew, Benji arrived matted to the skin—his fur tangled and heavy from months of neglect. Thanks to a much-needed shave and a whole lot of TLC, he’s feeling lighter already. But his transformation is just getting started. Benji’s a bit reserved at first, unsure of this big new world, but there’s a softness to him… a quiet curiosity that says he’s ready to trust again. With a gentle home and a little time, he’s going to flourish—not just in confidence, but in floof, too. He’s done surviving. Now he’s ready to thrive—and maybe even strut his stuff when that glorious coat grows back.

Story
Meet me at PawSafe, 348 Old Colony Rd, Eastford CT Twix is ready for his second chance. At around 2ish years old, this sweet Papillon mix has already been through more than most dogs ever should. Rescued from the same hoarding situation as Oakley and several of the other smaller dogs here at the shelter, Twix is one of the quiet survivors—gentle, a little unsure, but with a heart that still wants to trust. He’s been overwhelmed by the world so far, but there’s a calmness to him too—like he’s just waiting for someone patient enough to show him what love really feels like. Twix doesn’t need much: a soft spot to rest, a steady routine, and someone who won’t rush him. Give him time and kindness, and he’ll give you a kind of loyalty that feels extra special. With each small step forward, Twix is learning that the world isn’t so scary… especially when it smells like treats and comes with belly rubs.

Story
Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet.Meet JERRY, a very happy guy who simply gets along with everyone, humans and dogs, big and small.  JERRY is a Papillon mix with a very soft coat to go along with his soft soul.  He is 1 1/2 years old and weighs 10 pounds. This guy was left behind at an apartment complex when his owners moved out and I cannot make any sense of why they did not take him because I have not had any trouble out of him.  He is quiet, crate and potty trained and walks well on a leash.  There is no aggression in him anywhere, he shares his food bowl and his toys with the other dogs. He lives to cuddle with you and at 10 pounds he is easy to pick up and he will not grow any bigger.  You can take him everywhere and expect a well-mannered gentleman at all times. Story
Meet Cookie – A Survivor with a Heart of Gold Cookie's story is heartbreaking — she was cruelly thrown from a moving car in Waterbury. A kind motorist swerved just in time to avoid hitting her, but sadly wasn’t able to catch the license plate of the vehicle. Despite the trauma she's endured, Cookie remains incredibly sweet and trusting. With her big ears and soulful eyes, she might be a Papillon mix — but whatever her breed, she’s pure love. Cookie is house-trained, knows her basic commands, and has a gentle, well-mannered temperament. We're currently waiting on a vet appointment to learn more about her age and overall health, and we’ll keep you updated as we learn more. This brave girl deserves a second chance and a forever home full of love. If you’d like more information or are interested in giving Cookie the life she deserves, please call 860-716-3096. Please share to help Cookie find the loving home she’s been waiting for. 🐾💕

Story
Meet Guillermo! Guillermo is a 5-month-old Papillon and Chihuahua mix weighing about 15 pounds available for adoption in Texas. He's a playful little guy with a big personality and a love for wrestling—especially with our resident dog. He’s full of energy and curiosity, and nothing makes him happier than a good round of zoomies or a spirited match of play. When Guillermo first arrived, he was very feral and unsure of people, touch, and the comforts of indoor life. But with time, patience, and a routine, he’s made incredible progress. Just yesterday, for the first time, he settled down without needing constant wrestling. Usually one of the dogs has to be crated so the other can get a break, so this was a big step forward. Guillermo is crate trained and doing great with potty training. He hasn’t had an accident since his second day here. He also knows “outside” and “inside,” and he's starting to understand that life as a companion animal is a good one. Guillermo will do best in a home with another playful dog and people who understand that building trust takes time. He’s not just adorable—he’s a little survivor learning how to be a pet, and he’s going to make someone very happy. Are you ready to help Guillermo write his next chapter?
