Story
Meet Rusty! Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Landenberg, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Rusty is an absolutely adorable 8–10 year old Pomeranian weighing in at a tiny 6.5 lbs. This little fluff is as sweet as can be and has been a joy since the day he came to us from the shelter. Rusty is a gentle, quiet companion who enjoys a calm home and a comfortable spot to nap. He’s an independent little guy who doesn’t need to be in your lap at all times, but he definitely loves the option — especially during cozy downtime. Rusty is good with dogs, cats, and respectful children. Because he startles when woken up, we think a home with children who understand gentle interactions would be ideal. He’s still working on his housebreaking and currently uses belly bands while he gets the hang of things, but he’s making progress. Rusty is crate trained, does well on a leash, and sleeps happily in either a dog bed or an open crate. He can handle a few stairs, but due to his tiny size, a home with minimal steps (or someone willing to give him a little lift) would be perfect. Rusty recently received a dental cleaning, neuter, and treatment for a mild ear infection, so he’s feeling fresh and ready for his forever family! He does not require any ongoing medications or a special diet. Rusty’s Perfect Home:
A loving, gentle household that can provide a safe, cozy environment and help him continue with his housebreaking routine. A yard is not required, and he does well on walks. His new family should understand that this sweet boy may startle if woken suddenly, so soft approaches are best. Likes:
• Napping in soft places
• Quiet companionship
• A warm lap when the mood strikes Dislikes:
• Being startled awake (don’t we all?) If you're looking for a small, sweet, easygoing companion who will quietly fill your home with warmth, Rusty may be the one for you. He’s ready to give his heart to a family who will love him just as he is.

Story
We prefer potential adopters to be within 1 hour drive of Claymont DE 19703. Oso (bear in Spanish), was surrendered because his original family could not provide him what he needed. We got “Oh so” and immediately made a vet appointment, we knew he needed to be neutered and dental surgery if his bloodwork was ok, so he was thoroughly checked and good to go. He is a totally different dog after 24 teeth were removed. I don’t think he notices his testies are gone, he is having so much fun chewing on bones, playing with toys and eating with no pain. He has the energy of a 5 year old dog, so not a typical low key senior dog. I would have named him Tigger bc he bounces so much. He just wants to be with his people. If foster mom is sitting, then Oso finds a spot close by to lay down. He loves to go on walks and car rides. He is crate trained too. He gets along with most of the other dogs, except a high energetic one yr old chi that's in everyone’s face. Oso has a very think coat so he will need to be brushed, and he loves it. His bark doesn’t match his size, you would think he was over 50 pounds if you heard his bark behind a closed door. He is very chatty so we will not home him in an apartment or condo. If you are interested in adopting this young at heart old man, please email us AOLanimalrescue@gmail.com. We do require a vet reference. If you do not have one we are willing to accept a family’s vet reference, with their permission.

Story
Meet Birdie – Senior Pomeranian, 10 Years Old and Approximately 10lbs Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Mays Landing, New Jersey for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Birdie is a gentle, shy senior Pomeranian who is looking for a calm, patient forever home. She originally came to us from a difficult situation and made wonderful progress in her foster home. Birdie was recently adopted, but due to unexpected changes in her adopter’s life, she has returned to foster care through no fault of her own. Birdie gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. She relies on the presence of another dog for comfort, so a home with at least one friendly, calm dog is required. She is a quiet, reserved girl who watches everything around her with curiosity, and with time and kindness she continues to build confidence. She is pee pad trained and still working on full housetraining. Birdie is hard of hearing (possibly deaf), but her vision is good, she tolerates grooming well, and she is in overall good health. What is great about Birdie, is she only needed a cleaning at the vet! Birdie would do best in a home that: • Is calm and predictable • Has small-dog or Pomeranian experience • Has at least one other dog to help her feel safe • Can provide patience, gentle guidance, and one-on-one attention • Understands that she needs time to trust new people Birdie doesn’t need much — just a loving adopter who will let her settle in at her own pace and give her the safe, peaceful life she’s always deserved. If you’re ready to give Birdie her true forever home, she is ready to meet you.
