Story
(Dallas, Texas) Marley's an energetic boy, a whole white ball of fun-seeking guy. Although he's small and light, he knows how to wrestle well with big dogs. Marley certainly is good-looking, and his smile is contagious. It's hard to stay serious around him when he looks at you with that constant grin on his face. We know it sounds weird, but it is really funny seeing Marley pee pee. The way that he's so enthusiastically stretching his legs and kicking the grass and dirt after he's done pee pee is a scene that stops us from doing everything, and simply looking at him and laughing. Marley thinks of himself as the big boy, and he doesn't like to be picked up all the time. He loves adults and other dogs, but is very impatient with small children. Thus, we think Marley will do very well with older children who respect and understand Marley's Napoleon complex, ha ha ha . Marley is about 3 years old, merely 10-12 lbs. a very likely Pomeranian mix. He's playful, house-trained, fixed, and shots up to date. PLS helps us to share Marley, so Marley can nominate himself to the family who's looking for a fun companion. September 15, 2023, 12:04 am

Story
Lopez is a sweet boy who recently lost his owners due to their health issues, and ended up in the shelter after being found wandering as a stray. Poor boy, his world fell apart!  He's doing great in his current foster home, loving the other dogs. He is wary of new people who come into the home but warms up fairly well. He just completed his obedience training, so we are happy to report that he is doing better with new people!Lopez is a fun and affectionate boy hoping his next "forever home" will last forever! His ideal home would be a calm place, perhaps with a retired couple or a person without kids. He is good with other dogs, but prefers to be the only dog or to have a play buddy who is bigger than him. Lopez is house trained and despite being a senior dog, he is full of energy and doesn't have any health Issues.  ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. WILL NOT BE ADOPTED TO A HOME WITH CHILDREN. **Bite potential - but he hasn't bitten in a very long time.** ~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~   HEALTH: ***  Concho had some health issues when he came into our rescue but everything has been resolved and he is in good health according to our vet.   Temperament: Concho is an interesting little guy.  He has a few neurotic-like issues.  He absolutely will not be adopted to a home with small children.  Concho requires a delicate slow touch that a small child would just startle him.   Concho paces a lot outside.  This is something that a long walk will not fix.  It's just something he does and we have never been able to figure out why.  He has had an MRI but nothing indicated a reason for his pacing.  Concho loves to go on long walks and we highly recommend taking him on lots of adventures.  Concho is NOT a cuddling dog that will lay beside you on the couch for hours while you stroke his head.  He has learned to sit beside you a little and he does like to be on the couch or bed with you. He has his down time but only after he has been exercised quite a bit.  He loves to play tug and he likes it when he gets to win.  He loves play time.  He does not like being "roughed up" or handled roughly.  He requires gentle touches.  Yelling at him for mistakes will not make him a better dog.  It will make him WORSE.  Unfortunately, he doesn't really respond to positive reinforcement either.  Concho is not for everyone.  He has been passed around to many homes because he is an unusual little fluff.  He is gorgeous and that's why everyone wants him.  But when they get him home and he paces the back yard for hours and they don't know what to do with him, they bring him right back or give him away.  He's very food aggressive and toy aggressive.   The bottom line is, he needs a lot of understanding and maybe some exercise along with his meds but you are unlikely going to be able to fix him.      -- Where did he come from:  Concho was passed around from home to home and was about to be taken to the shelter when another family took him in.  They had really big dogs that did not like his little fluffy butt and they also had kids that Concho was afraid of and growled at.  So he was surrendered to our rescue and we are trying very hard to make sure Concho does not end up in another home where he is not wanted.    We all love Concho and have learned how to have a cute loving relationship with him.  He is comical and wants love and attention just like any other dog.  Please make sure you spend a lot of time during his meet and greet to get to know him and understand his quirky personality.   Adoption: ***** $500.00***** Weight: 12.1 lbs. This causes him to not use that leg as much. He is not in pain and will use it some just not all the time. He has hypothyroidism which requires meds twice a day. ***** No obvious health issues found during vet exam ***** Temperament: Keeper is absolutely a keeper!!! This boy has stolen my heart and will absolutely steal yours. He is one of the best dogs I have ever fostered. Keeper probably wont be able to go on long walks but I'm sure he would go on a very short one and then love to ride in a stroller. He LOVES toys!!! Keeper is the cutest dog when he's playing or carrying toys around. Because of Keeper's leg surgery he can be pretty wobbly. He will get knocked over easily. He does have a harder time standing up on wood or slick floors. He would do best with rugs or carpet down. If you give Keeper the chance he will make you smile and laugh. He doesn't play with other dogs or anything. He is supposedly 12 years old but with how much he loves toys I'm not sure that's accurate but it's what the shelter aged him at. He loves to sit by you on the couch but you will need to make sure to put him on the floor if you get up. He can't jump up or down on his own. -- Where did he come from: He was adopted from DAS and then surrendered back when he kept hiding from them. (side note: he has never once hid from us! He's perfect!!!)  Adoption: ***** $400.00 ***** Weight: 8.3 lbs. She will take time to warm up and would prefer only a few people in the home. NO CHILDREN. She is a bite risk for strangers. I think children would overwhelm her and I wouldn't put them at risk. When she warms up and loves you she is super loyal. Very sweet and cuddly and happy! Loves being with her person. She would be great for a retired couple who just wants a doggy to hang out with. --  Where did she come from:  Surrendered to the shelter when her owner died. He’s very playful and loves kissing you good night and waking you up with some morning kisses. He also loves hugging you in case you didn’t already know how much he loves you. He likes to run around and play with his foster brothers but can also relax on the couch with you. Tornado loves going on walks but also uses the doggy door when he needs to go. He does go crazy over food so you have to be careful around him until he learns his manners.  He would do best in a home with another dog to play with and no small children since he’s still a little shy with fast movement. -- Where did he come from:  Breeder Release Adoption: ***** $700.00 ***** Weight: 7.8 lbs.
