Story
About this Dog: Name: Jumanji Breed: Pomeranian Approximate Age:  8 yr Gender:  Male Weight:  around 10 lb Adoption Fee:  $450 Why in Rescue:  puppy mill survivor Requirements: fenced yard or secure potty area Scroll down to learn more! Please fill out the adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs.  If clicking on the link doesn't work, just copy/paste into a browser to get to the application.  Jumanji came from a commercial breeder who was no longer going to use him for breeding.  He is a sweet guy becoming more comfortable with human handling everyday.  He tends to spin in circles, likely from living in a kennel for so long.  This may get better after he figures out he has more space to move around than just a kennel run.  He has been neutered and had his teeth cleaned, and is now ready to find a loving home. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often scared/shy/skittish), and probably never lived in a house.  They need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like television is.  They will need a patient adopter who will give them the time they needs to adjust and learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after being used the first part of their lives for making puppies.  A fence (or at least a fenced in potty area) is highly recommended and may be required for certain dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home and may be required in some cases. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html   We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.     The adoption procedures are listed below.  Priority is given to potential adopters who fill out the application on our website.  If a listing is on the adoption websites, we are still accepting applications.  The listing is removed once we have received a sufficient number of applications or the pet leaves the shelter.   Adoption Procedures: 1.  Completely fill out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog.  Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2.  If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in.   3.  If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.  Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her.  In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day.   4.  If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application.  You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time.  Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us!   The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc All dogs are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue dogs.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a dog.  It also assists us in placing dogs in homes where both the dog and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog from Bichon and Little Buddies. The Dog Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS February 20, 2024, 3:42 pm

Story
Meet Rudi! The Rudster is what his foster parents call him and he's really something else. Rudi is a 6 lb Pomeranian mix and he's a 'golden oldie' as they say because he's right around 14 years old. He's everything sunshiny with an old soul and is a really cool little dude. In his spare time, he likes to lay on top of the couch where he can look out the window and catch some sunshine rays and also lay alongside his foster daddy on the couch to snooze the day away. He's not a barky kind of guy although when it's close to dinner time, (because he does know what time it is) he gets a little sassy bark and stands on his hind legs and waves with his front feet in the air. So cute! He has personality for days. Rudi is really good with dogs his size but wouldn't mind being an only child. Cats are unknown, but can be kitty tested if nessesary. Due to his tiny stature, children over 10 years old would be best. He wears a belly band for good measure because he does have accidents but he also enjoys going outside as well. Rudi would enjoy short walks to show himself off to the neighbors, he loves car rides and enjoys shopping at the local stores. He's an all around perfect little guy who doesn't ask for much except for when it's time to eat! If you'd like to meet this obviously handsome little man, you can get started by filling out an application. *Rudi is fostered in Delavan Wisconsin. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). Story
Klaus is a tiny guy, and if he was a cat he would have used up at least 8.5 of his lives. Only weighing in at about 10 pounds, this little dude was hit by a car. It just about turned him into a jigsaw puzzle but hey he's mostly repaired now! But sans one leg.   He's only about a year old, but he's an old man at heart. Klaus isn't much for playtime or zoomies. He'd rather spend all day snuggling with you! While he does live with other dogs, the bigger ones can scare him at first. He doesn't GAF about cats, they might as well not exist in his world.   Klaus is potty trained, crate trained, and knows a few basic commands. Mostly the commands are in Spanish. He doesn't even bark much! Mostly he grunts and groans. What more could you ask for in a tiny dog?   Approximate DOB: 2023 Foster Home Location: Madison    If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful dogs, you can apply on our website: https://forms.gle/MGakwmFh92UiK9iM6     Please allow several days for us to process your application. Story
Dimitri is learning how to be a dog in his foster home, and every day, he makes great progress. You see, Dimitri spent the first six years of his life in a puppy mill. Despite this he still craves human affection and will give the sweetest little kisses. He gets startled by sudden movements, but he will approach you and hang out with you if he feels comfortable. Otherwise, he will hang out in his crate if he needs some alone time. He has shown curiosity in toys, pulling them all out of the toybox and throwing them around. However, he sometimes tries to chew on things that aren't toys too, so he still needs to learn how to distinguish toys from other objects. He has had a few accidents here and there but is potty trained - he always pees as soon as he's let outside, but I think he still needs to learn how to let people know when he needs to go out. He likes being outside and enjoys going for walks. He seems a little nervous when the leash is on him at first, but then he walks well beside his dog foster sibling. He rides well in a car and did fantastic at an adoption event surrounded by many dogs, adults, and children. He wagged his tail so much and approached strangers, especially a few calm kids for lots of attention and gave so many kisses. At his first visit to the dog park he really blossomed, approaching all the humans for attention and eventually initiating play with the other dogs.Dimitri would benefit from a quieter home, preferably without young kids since sudden movements scare him. He barks sometimes when left in his crate, so he may not be a good fit for apartment living (however, he has the cutest little bark I've ever heard).Be sure to check out the many stories, pictures and videos about him on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/Ask to meet him today!!Adoption fee: $425All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. As required by Wisconsin Act 90, all dogs will have received a veterinarian exam (CVI) within the past 30 days. Our adoption process requires the submission of an application. Applications and Adoption Rules can be found on our website, on the "HOW TO ADOPT" tab at JRsPupsNStuff.org. Upon receipt of the completed application, we will process the application including: contact with your veterinarian and completion of a home visit. Please be sure to include the contact information for your vet as we will call. If your vet requires an information release, please be sure to contact them as soon as you submit your application. We are a group of volunteers with families and jobs, so please be patient and allow a few days for our response. JR's Pups-N-Stuff Dog Sellers License 512395-DS

Story
8.5 years old Spayed female Gets along with other dogs More information coming soon! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.February 20, 2024, 6:19 pm
