Story
Our Solo dog is the best! He loves people and other dogs and is GREAT with kids. We recently moved across the country and have found that, in addition to raising 3 very young kids, we are struggling emotionally and financially to give him the attention he deserves. He just turned 7 years old last week. LOVES to explore on walks, sits kindly on the bus, says hello to other dogs and sleeps a lot 😄He would be an amazing companion dog for anyone who loves to snuggle, as he is a living stuffed animal 😄

If you do not receive confirmation from us, email adoptions@hsnb.org . -----Meet ELVIS! 👑🐾]Specialty: Landscape Botanical Enthusiast & Loyal Companion If you're looking for a dog with personality, intelligence, and a heart full o' fluff, meet ELVIS! He's a majestic 64-pound Siberian Husky who has been patiently waiting at the shelter for about 2 years. Elvis is looking for his special person-the kind of bond that, once built, makes him your ultimate ride-or-die.😎🌿 The Green-Thumb ExplorerElvis isn't just a dog; he's a connoisseur of the outdoors. He has a deep appreciation for landscape plant life! His ideal afternoon involves long walks exploring newly landscaped front yards, sniffing out every plant in sight, and leaving his personal mark on everyday flora.🚗 A Dream Travel Partner & Local ShopperCar Rides: ELVIS is an absolute dream in the car. After a good long walk, he gets right in and quietly lays down for the duration of the ride.Pup Cup Snob: ELVIS knows what he likes! He prefers supporting small, local businesses over big chains like Starbucks. A half to three-quarters of a pup cup is his sweet spot. (He tends to not finish pup-cups.)🙄Picky Gourmet: Like many distinguished Huskies, ELVIS is a bit of a foodie. He prefers natural, non-processed foods (he has a real soft spot for Whole Foods-level quality!).🛁 Suprisingly easy to scrub-a-dubBath-Style: ELVIS admits defeat early on and will sport the ear cover head wrap to protect his ears without a fuss after he trusts you fully. His trust extends to people his people trusts, but he will gladly return to his energetic Husky-boy self post bath with a generous offering of McDonalds chicken nuggets, and he will take them from you gently, and not hold a grudge.🐾 Social Style & Sensitive HeartHis Inner Circle: ELVIS knows instantly when he's found "his" person. His signature approval sign is sitting right on your shoes. Once you're in his circle, he has a sweet, protective instinct and likes to keep a safe perimeter around his favorite people to show he cares.Dog Friends: This boy loves going on walks with other dogs! He does exceptionally well with confident, strong female dogs who know who they are. He can get eager and excited when greeting other dogs-he might look intense, but he's just still learning his doggy manners. He has done parallel walks with smaller dogs and greets them gently without any issues.Sensitive Soul: Don't let his handsome Husky exterior fool you-ELVIS has a total softie side. Shelter volunteers have seen him cuddle up and wrap his little paws around his stuffed animals when he sleeps. Like many dogs, ELVIS has been significantly affected by the stress of the shelter environment, and some of the behaviors he has displayed may be related to that stress. He is a wonderful dog with tremendous potential, but he requires a confident, experienced handler who is committed to providing structure, consistent training, and appropriate management. Adopters should be prepared to manage leash reactivity, resource guarding, and other behaviors he has displayed in his 2 years at the shelter. Because of these needs, he is not recommended for first-time dog owners or those seeking an easy, low-maintenance companion. He also requires a home without cats. 💡 Good to KnowPaws Off: ELVIS has sensitive little paws. While he will gently pull his feet away if touched, he is always polite and patient about it.Deep Bonds: ELVIS has formed deep, meaningful bonds with shelter volunteers who know and love him. He just needs a patient adopter who respects his process while he decides you're his person.Ready to give this handsome botanist the home he deserves? Come meet ELVIS and see if he chooses your shoes to sit on!👞👟🥾🥿👠👡🩰👢Check out profile video here! https://www.hsnb.org/youtube-elvis-16303His adoption fee is $250. If you do not receive confirmation from us, email adoptions@hsnb.org.-----Meet MAX! 🐾Breed: Siberian HuskyStatus: Neutered & House-trainedCrate Training: Crate trained at night; does great for up to 3 hours during the day in his foster home.Ideal Home: Active humans who love long walks/hiking, appreciate a dog who takes time to stop and smell the roses (literally!), and are ready for a sweet, loyal shadow.💖 About MaxMax is a sensitive, endearing boy with a big heart and a deep love for human connection. He thrives on touch and likes to stay physically close-often leaning his fur right against your elbow. If you stop petting him before he's ready, he'll give a little gentle mouth/nibble reminder to say, "Hey, don't stop!"His foster family has been working with him using a "gentle" command to soften his communication. He also already knows "sit".👃 Master of the Sniff & The "Downward Dog"If sniffing were a professional sport, Max would hold the gold medal. The Nose Knows: Long walks filled with intense sniffing-whether along train tracks, nature trails, grass, asphalt, or rocky paths-are his absolute happy place.Walk Pauses: When something important catches his nose, Max will do a full downward-dog yoga pose and completely halt the walk to investigate!Car Rides: He's coming along nicely with car rides. He might whine a little out of pure excitement because he knows the car usually means a trip to the park! He loves sticking his nose through the window gap for fresh air.🐕 Dog Friends & Play StyleMax is very dog-friendly, but he prefers a polite, slow introduction. The Inspection: Max is a extremely thorough sniffer and needs to check everything "under the hood" multiple times before feeling 100% safe with a new canine friend.Play Style: He is a playful tease! Max loves playing tag and getting chased, but he isn't into rough-and-tumble play.Small Dog Fan: Max loves small, confident dogs and will happily walk beside them all day long. He would do wonderfully in a home with a small dog or another big dog with his similar play style.🧸 Toys & GroomingToys: While shelter stress initially made Max guard a favorite toy, outside of a shelter environment, his foster has observed he's not as interested in toys.Baths: For a Husky, Max is surprisingly super easy to bathe when he needs a polish!Ready to add this loving, goofy, nature-loving boy to your pack? Adopt MAX today and gain the ultimate walking partner! 🐕✨Ready to give Max his forever home? Fill out an application on our website.
