Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hope was taken as part of a cruelty case.  Her skin was in bad shape and she seemed to have a lung infection.  Both were treated and our little girl has blossomed.  She loves life :)She has an odd limp that has been decided is arthritis in her one front leg so she is on meds to make sure she is not 'ouchie'She should go to a home without a lot of steps and as much as you might want her to sleep in bed with you it would be very dangerous for her.  A soft bed next to your bed and she is very content.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!November 29, 2023, 9:17 pm

Story
Hi, I'm Scooter! I am an adorable little pup who enjoys belly rubs! I am a bit older but I still have plenty of youthful energy and love to give. I can be VERY nervous meeting new people and need time to warm up to you. I am looking for a furever home with children over 10 since I can be sensitive to being touched if I'm feeling insecure. I'd prefer no other dogs, but I could possibly live with cats and other small animals. I would love to meet so you can fall for me! --- Our facility is open daily from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM for meet and greet appointments, which are highly recommended. If you are interested in meeting an animal please contact us via email at Lancaster@pspca.org to learn more about our adoption process and to set a meet and greet appointment.

Story
Meet Winston, a real cutie pie of a Pug mix!  Around 1 year old and weighing 18 pounds, he’s probably as big as he’s going to get.  This boy with his short coat of brown with accents of white, and his curly tail makes quite the good looking fellow.  And his pointy ears and big brown eyes certainly add to his handsome appearance.  Really, though, the best part of this fine boy is his temperament.  He’s good with other dogs, kids, and his foster’s cat!  Winston is a small package with a heart filled with love!  (posted 11/29/23, TN)  **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $375 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  December 2, 2023, 10:12 pm

Story
Johnny AKA Blu is an 11 month old neutered male pug/poodle mix. He was adopted as a puppy and recently returned due to a change in his owner's life style. Blu is an explorer and a very quiet boy. He loves to go for a walk as soon as his owner gets home and he enjoys running in the yard as well. He is a very strong little guy and has tested well with other dogs.

Story
Meet our perfect little pig mixes (aka pugs that can actually breath!)! These ladies are about 2-3 years old and were all given up by a puppy mill in Lancaster County after being used as breeder mamas for their whole lives. When we picked them up the breeder informed us they were recently attacked by another dog on the property, and upon closer examination we could see the wounds on their sweet faces. We cannot imagine what these dogs have been through, but despite this traumatic past, they are the most loving and laid back dogs you could imagine. They are perfectly happy curled up on a bed, and will patiently wait to get attention from people whenever they can. They love other dogs, and everyone they have met. They are truly something special! As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Each pups adoption fee is $450. This fee includes the following care of the dog: vaccines, microchip, deworming, vet visit, preventatives, any additional needed vetting, and spay/neuter. The rest of the adoption fee goes towards caring for all of our dogs (including seniors, special needs, etc.), and keeping our rescue operating and able to continue to save more animals. Please apply to be considered at our website www.angelsretreat.org.
