Story
Meet Jelly Bean! 🩷🐾 If happiness had a face, it would be Jelly Bean's. This adorable 2-year-old Pug wakes up every day convinced the world is full of friends she just hasn't met yet. Whether it's adults, kids, other dogs, or complete strangers, Jelly Bean greets everyone with a wagging tail and an infectious smile. She absolutely ADORES children and would make an incredible family companion. Jelly Bean was born with severe hip dysplasia, but here's the amazing part—you'd never know it. She runs, plays, and enjoys life just like any other young dog. Right now, the only thing she needs is to stay at a healthy, lean weight and continue taking her joint supplements to help protect her hips for years to come. As she gets older, there's a chance she may benefit from pain medication to keep her comfortable—but honestly, that's true for many dogs (and plenty of people, too!). It doesn't define her, and it certainly doesn't slow her down. Jelly Bean is looking for a family who sees her for who she is: a joyful, loving little Pug with a heart far bigger than her tiny body. If you're searching for a best friend who will happily tag along on adventures, snuggle with the kids, and brighten every single day, Jelly Bean is ready to steal your heart.

Story
Meet Rory 🐾 Rory is an 8–9-year-old pug with the sweetest, personality. He’s great with kids, gets along well with other dogs, and is happiest simply being near his people. Whether he’s curled up at your feet or snoozing under a desk while you work, Rory is the definition of a loyal companion. He enjoys toys from time to time, but at this stage in life, he much prefers lounging and soaking up a calm, cozy environment. Rory absolutely loves food (as most pugs do!), and we’ve been working on his manners, especially resisting the urge to pop up when people are eating. He can also be a little grumpy if you try to take food from him or if you try to cut his nails so we’re working on that as well. Rory would likely thrive in a home where someone is around for a good portion of the day, as he truly enjoys companionship, though he does handle being left alone just fine. He has made great progress with marking behavior, and we are hopeful that now that he is neutered this will help resolve this completely. A quick but important note for anyone considering adopting Rory, or any pug: this breed can be high-maintenance. Pugs are prone to skin conditions, spinal problems, eye issues, and breathing challenges, so it’s important to be prepared for potential extra care, cost, and vet needs. Doing your research on the breed is essential to ensure it’s the right fit for your lifestyle. Rory is a loving, laid-back little guy who is ready to find a home where he can relax, be adored, and spend his days close to his people.

He loves sleeping on his back, belly rubs and playing fetch.  Neutered, up to date on routine shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  Nutty Butty is fostered in Durham NC and his adoption fee is $350.00. Please contact Cathleen (cathleen.pronc@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Http:/www.pugrescuenc.com/images/PRONC_Express.jpg ON MEDICAL HOLD another update: On exam for her spay the vet detected a heart arrythmia. She has an appointment in 3 weeks with a cardiologist. This will need to be addressed and see what options there are for treatment. More to come on this sweet girl.   Update: I am finally over my pneumonia after 2 rounds of antibiotics. I do have severe collapsed trachea and will be on prescription medication for my cough for life. I am still very selective on my eating so my foster mom is working on that. The plan is for my spay with a doctor that is experienced with dogs with collapsed trachea. Once this is done and I am medically cleared my foster mom will go through all the applications for me to select the best possible home for me.  Ava is a 7.6 year old black pug. She has an upper respiratory infection or early pneumonia, and bilateral ear infections. We are concentrating on making her well. Its hard to learn their personality with they come in sick. Ava was bulled in her last home so she fearful of other dogs. She would be best as an only dog or a home with an older dog her size that will give her space.  Ava will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on routine shots, heartworm negative and current on prevention prior to adoption. Fostered in Virginia Beach, VA adoption fee is $300.00  Pugs most be indoor dogs.
